I just LOVE the great dioramas! It's just a fantastic opportunity to take some great doll photos! Can't wait!

 

Already started making my Naughty Nauticals costume for my doll and getting excited for this fun event, My first one! Yippee!

 

Looking forward to it! It was great to see everyone at the North Park Doll Collectors expo too. BJD's are getting a lot of attention from all kinds of doll collectors.

 

I missed the Doll Show... a bit too much of a drive and I had a mess of stuff to do.

I'm glad it was well-attended, though!

Yep, we've been working WEEKS on a Pirate ship. It's awesome.

I really want to try and make this! It's been so long since I've been to a meet much less a con XD And this will be my first BJD con if I can go~

The problem is, i live in MCAS Miramar and i dont have anyone interested enough to take me. Please i havent been to any doll meets since i got here so i dont know anyone else i can carpool with...

 

OMG that is really nice of you. It wouldnt be that hard to find a ride, but Saturday is the day after our ball, and everyone is probably too wasted or busy plus my bf is overseas right now so i pretty much have no one. Im hoping to go because i would really like to be social amongst doll owners in San Diego.

 

Turns out I'm gonna make it this weekend! I hope I have enough time to give my boy a new face-up for the occasion!

 

I'm coming down on the 5, but there should be a way to cut over to the base... If she doesn't mind being at the con all day--maybe do dinner?, but I don't have to stay for that.

Ohhh, I wish I could come >_< But my closest friends who could've watched my new puppy received notices from their jobs this week and had to move cross country And unlike my other dog, our new pup is extremely demanding and most likely would howl his head off if I were gone for more than 4 hours T_T

I hope you all have fun! And who knows, maybe someone might pop up to be able to watch him and I could go

 

Oh, this sounds like fun! I just moved to San Diego, and haven't been to a doll meet in ages. I might have plans with a friend on Saturday, but if they fall through, I'm there!

 

Whoot! It's tomorrow!! Yay!! I brought three dolls. I was only going to bring 2 but had to throw in a third last minute.

 

Gahhh! I didn't know about this till now >_< I haven't been to any doll meets at all this year. I'm hoping to be able to make it... but my dolls aren't even strung together and I don't have anything nautical.

 

You don't need to dress nautical- none of my dolls have pirate outfits either! And you don't need to bring very many

I hear there are lots of vendors this year too!

 

Yeah-- dressing dolls for the theme is NOT required! There will probably be a costume contest with the Nautical theme--and the dioramas will be made in the theme--but that's it.

Just come along and check it out. Dolls aren't required... it's very easy. People can talk about dolls, buy things from vendors, have a chance to win some door prizes, view lots of dolls, eat some snacks, meet people. It's a lot of fun! And no pressure!

THANK YOU to everyone who organized and worked on this wonderful con. Plus to all the amazing vendors. And to everyone who attended!!! So many beautiful dolls and wonderful costumes. Loved the amazing dioramas. I had a fantastic time.

 

April - I know, my photos didn't turn out all that great either I thought they were okay (on the small screen), but so dark when I got on my computer. I should have forced the flash a lot more.

Thank you for bringing Dune! And your pirate boys were wonderful!! Loved the whole lot of them. Wished we could have talked more - but that's what happens when you are in charge of something - no time to chat! ARGH!

 

The lighting in those rooms has always been pretty dim... Not quite dark enough for flash, but not great without a flash! I can tinker with exposure in Photoshop, though... but the grain and fuzziness can't be fixed.

Plus, it's crowded, so hard to get a good shot sometimes. And so many dolls and other pics to take--and a lot of things to do!--so that makes it hard to get pictures, too...

Yeah... I never seem to be able to get to talk at the con! Everything seems to move so fast and suddenly it's over! Even when I stay after, that doesn't seem to be enough.

Maybe there will be some more quieter, easier doll meets down there...? Dunno...

Heh... sorry for not bringing Dune's tail. That thing totally falls off all the time, though...! I wish they'd rigged it so it had at least one joint so it could move around a bit more easily... and needs a stronger magnet...!

I wish I'd had time to dress Dune up, too, but I actually don't have many mini outfits... I've been trying to not buy Minis... but that resolution is dying fast. I just found a Fairyland Minifee in the marketplace and have him on layaway...

 

I'm really bummed I found about this too late to be able to attend since I already had other plans. Are there other meet-ups, less formal, in the San Diego area?

 

No others that are set times, no. There are usually a few a year, often in spring & summer. Just keep an eye out in the 'meetings' thread for announcements. Or you could plan one yourself!

 

AND of course there is always the next SD BJDcon to look forward to!
