5StarDoll Tinies Discussion Part 4

Speaking of event dolls...... I just did a trade and have a package waiting at home for me. Within are 2 twins cast in 2014 that were event dolls called Twins. I think, based on a pininterst pic I did manage to find.... they might have been 2013 summer events. They have odd heads I can only describe as fish-people. The original owner got them as event bonus dolls in grey skin but I cannot find anymore information on them. Is anyone familiar with these kids? In pics, they look pretty cute. Once I get a chance to be at home (I work crazy hours) and spend some time opening the box and putting them back together, I will share some pics.

Also, these dollies are super cute. Yay!!! I'm not sure how I've gotten by so far not noticing this company before. I'm going to spend idle time here at work looking through all the old threads I can find about these tinies.

I have been so out of the BJD loop, so I am sad to see that they have retired so many sculpts. Is Batboy retired? I looked, and can't seem to find that one on the site, though it wasn't working. I was never able to re-get Batboy, so I quite sad about that.

@mollym - congrats on the twins! Those heads are so cute. I can't quite remember what year that event was, but I remember seeing it. I can't wait to see any pics you take!

 

Hello there, Rabbit-moon! I don't understand why they would either. Just like the agony of Pipos retiring the majority of their PI and Jr. PI line, and when Luts and FL split and the Delf line died. Broke my heart. I suppose this hobby has to "progress" and change, but it sure is hard to witness.

I did see DDE has the Quintus, and I would love to snatch him up. Sadly, my funds are all spoken for at this moment. It'll change, so hopefully he will stay in stock for a little longer! He's one I have wanted for some time, so if it is meant to be, he'll be mine.

 

Yeah, you and I got into the hobby around the same time. So much has changed - newbies don't know what they have missed! I was pretty upset over the original IH YIDs too. The new ones just aren't the same.

I sure hope I can. Quintus is one of my favorites. Your's is such a cutie pie! I'm just glad I have my Jesse (Lucian), since apparently that sculpt is gone too! Did they even get rid of Aiden? I did see one new sculpt I like, but with the regular human ears, and lack of vampy fangs, totally on the fence on that one. Can't remember the new one's name.

 

@mollym - You're right, they were summer event dolls in 2013. I got them in summer 2013, along with my SD Gabriel.
Mine have very crappy face-ups. I do want to redo them, but it's not great weather for face-ups at the moment.

 

It's kind of strange being an old timer, lol, but here we are! El was like that must have doll - everyone wanted one. I think the fact there there were far less companies back in the day gave it a cozier feel. Now there are so many companies and so many dolls, while it's got its own kind of exciting, it's not like the good ol' days.

My first tinies were the anthros. I think my first Yo may have been a LTF, but I can;t remember at this point. My first 5star was a WS Batboy, and I was like "these are the best Yos!" I love the fact that the 30 size are a little bit bigger. They just feel so solid in your hand.

I am going to see what I can figure out and secure that Quintus somehow. Crossing my fingers!

You listed all the companies I can remember! Maybe because it was new to me, but there was just this magic to the hobby then that I don't feel so much now. Seeing old companies "update" their aesthetic...well, its just sad to sentimental me. At least I have some old beloved dolls to enjoy.

Yes , and I have calculated how much each payment would be each month. Gotta see if I can make it work.

Aw, look at all those cute faces! I think the bottom one on the left is Kane. I had one in grey skin.

 

There is quite a few older sculpts I still lack that I want quite badly, but I feel very lucky to have just acquired 2 in a trade.

OMG, just look at your Kane!!! So cute. I love the tan color. What are your plans for her? Have you named her yet?

 

@Rabbit-moon , @pepperonipizza and @Fairy Milliner . Thanks for coming back into the thread. Wow, it's great to see it being so active. It's great seeing all the pics and good luck to those still searching for more of these guys. Where have them been all this time? I have no idea how I managed to miss this company. I suppose it's just like you said, there are so many companies now. I tried to get my first doll back in 2010, it didn't end well then, so I tried again in 2014 and it's been a constant since.

I've took the heads out and had trouble finding time to do nothing but put these kids back together. Grrrrr...... Once I woke up after sleeping I had the quiet, focus and energy to sit down and do so. The previous owner did a cute air-brush job on them and it's going to stay for awhile. Their faceups look cute, so until I get a few other bjd things sorted, they can wait for an updated look. They make me want to get an air brush set-up even more now. I plan to make them mer-children but since I am a beginner at sewing, I'm sure their tails will require some trial and error on my part. :/ I'm first going to make them carrier bags soon so they can go to a meet with me next month. In the meantime, I'm going to have fun with them joining the growing population of bjds on my nightstand in the bedroom. (Dang, I really need to get the shelves painted and up in here!)

In addition to planning some tails, I have picked up some fabrics to make them aquatic themed carrying bags. I designed them so they can also look like sleeping bags. I've made a few so far, and they are looking better with each try. It's only my 3rd sewing project for my dolls but I'm getting more confident to continue to learn to sew for my crew. I hope to get them finished next weekend as I don't seem to have had enough time this weekend thanks to adulting.

IIRC originally they had Quintus, Bibi, Rex, Ria, Mia, Ray, Todd and TongTong.
Then came Mr. Pumpkin, Batboy and Aiden. I remember because that's when I made my first 5SD order.
I'm not sure who came first, Kathy and Kane or Mars and Miya.

After that they made the 30 cm body, which became Star-10. That's when they came out with Amy. I never liked that body as much as the earlier ones. And they introduced the Star-5 line at the same time. (Jesse and three girls with optional antlers or bunny ears whose names escape me...)

Of all the ones I didn't get I most regret Mia and Rex. But hey, I have 9 of them (if you include Jesse) so I shouldn't complain. (The ones who "got away" always seem to get cuter by the year, though... LOL!!)

 

I think that's Ray. It's the old environmental resin that they started out with.

I edited my above post: the top girl was Miya, and the one next to Aiden was Kathy, not Katy.

Mr Pumpkin had a resin pumpkin-shaped head cap (which looked like it was an extra cap on top of the head, not part of the actual head) and he had the most adorable pouty face.

I now wish I'd saved pictures from the old site.

I currently have the demon-fish-faced twins, Quintus, Batboy, Aiden, Jadite, Ria, Amy and Jesse.
But you can never have enough.

 

@Rabbit-moon - I got a WS Elf chiwoo I named Coal, and a WS Elf Yder - with his archer hands! - I named Jaspar. They haven't settled in 100% yet, but I am so happy to have them.

Your new girl would look amazing in a fantasy type costume. What kind of style are you thinking? I'm always a fan of fantasy! I think the burgundy color looks great on her. For some reason I am favoring the light shorter wig, which isn't usually my preferred style. I think I like the way it shows her face, and the color looks excellent with the tan skin.

Your new dolls looks very happy to be in their new home. Have you thought of any names yet? They are so cute, and will be incredible mer-children! I am sure you will figure out how to make them their tails. Carrying bags is an excellent idea. I once had a coffin bag for one of my big dolls I was super proud of. I don't think it kept him as safe as I would have liked. The bags people make for their dolls always seem to be safer! I hope you will share all your progress with us as you go along!

@Fairy Milliner - oooh, you have 9? So awesome! Its funny how that works, isn't it - the ones who got away always have a certain thing to them.

I crawled the Wayback Machine for old pictures, and found that the picture you showed is of a doll named Todd.
I'd forgotten about Todd.

I also found Ray's company picture, and he was wearing a white outfit with a hat. I'd forgotten about that outfit as well. I wish I'd bought it now. (I wish I'd bought ALL their tiny shoes when I had a chance, too!!)

Congratulations on scoring the twins Molly M. One of my major regrets is not being able to get them when they were released. They wouldn't let me buy them separately and I couldn't come up with a big enough order to get them. I was bummed. I am still bummed.
I shouldn't be greedy as I do have a lot of 5 Star tinies.

Thanks! I am so super lucky. I just love those old CP elves. My Yder is pretty yellow, which is no biggie to me, and my Chiwoo isn't too bad, just a lovely cream, which I love. Chiwoo always has the most serious expression. I also love those melon headed dolls! I miss that aesthetic! Do you have any pics of your Elf Chiwoo? I haven't posted any pics of mine yet. They need face ups (not to mention a complete outfit!), and the weather is too frigid right now to try. Its supposed to warm up a lot by the weekend, but then we got rain and lots of humidity coming. Ah, the state of KY! I can always send you pics when I get them sorted out if you'd like!

Can't wait to see what you can find for her! When you day fantasy, all I think of is medieval, but there's lots more things that fall under fantasy.

I hear you on that. I have forever regretted parting with my Vampy Shiwoo. I wanted a dreaming Shiwoo too, and don't even get me started on the Els! Its like if you had any idea that something would one day be not available any more, would you still part with what you parted with? The question that can drive you literally nuts.

Oh my, thank you so much for the link on your boy. He is just.....perfection! He's gorgeous. I love everything about him!

 

Oh, wow.... I can hardly keep up here. These kids are so amazing.... and I'm still scratching my head wondering how they had managed to escape my attention all this time. These older sculpts are so cute. I've been slowly reading through the part 3 thread and really enjoying it. It's too bad that so many of the photobucket pics are dead, but it's amazing to see all the photos y'all have recently posted. Poor little Ray up there looks like he just found out his older brothers ate all the cookies. The variety in the dolls is really fun, we have so many different character types but they are still really cute. Thanks for sharing the photo of Pumpkin @Fairy Milliner. I was trying to imagine what he looked like and was way, way off. Your photo above, @Kelli makes me think of a class photo of the Monster High kids when they were in elementary school.

I agree, @Rabbit-moon, your new girl is incredibly cute. Good score for you! The short wig sure does show those cutie little ears.

These twins are pretty neat. I wasn't sure how I would feel about them, owner pics were hard to find and I don't know if I've ever met a 5 star doll before. The air brush job on them is cool, but it would be nice to someday give them a look of my own creation. I do feel air brush is the way to go with these and I don't have that setup. I've no grey dolls and no 'monster' sort besides a floating head with some vampire teeth that's been stored since he came home. Coming up with their characters should be a lot of fun. I'm imagining they could even be a bonded pair that stays together through all stages of life. I also like how the Eastern Europeans say that mermaids eat boys, so maybe these guys aren't so friendly. Muahhhahaha. I had a lot of trouble finding tinies that appealed to me that also agreed with my wallet. Mine have that three part torso, which is also something I've not noticed in any other tinies. As I understand, there have been four different bodies for these kids? I'm trying to absorb all of this, and it's a lot.... discovering a new-to-me company usually takes me a bit of time.

It is a shame they've been discontinued, I think it would be neat if at some point, the company did a special order period so some of us could have the ones we missed. I sure wouldn't be upset if a boy Tong Tong just happened to show up here! I think I've got that one right, I like my kids to be all smiles. I'm so happy everyone has continued the conversation and is being so helpful. This is a good crowd in this thread for sure.

 

I think my Ria may be on the first body, the girl body with the really tiny hands. When I ordered her they had just switched from the old environmental resin to 'regular' resin. I think soon after they had an "A" and a "B" body to chose from, when I got the demon twins and my SD Gabriel.
Since then they switched a few times and it got really confusing when the old "B" body was now the "A" body and they had a different "B" body...
I have no idea how many different bodies I have on mine, but there must be at least three different ones (not counting Jesse, who is on the Star-5 body but not that much shorter than my old Batboy and Aiden.)

 

@Kelli Maybe you can still find them. When I got mine, it was just by chance from a trade. I bet someone out there might be like the original owner of mine and just have a pair sitting around that don't get much attention. That pic of yours is still gives me a happy giggle, they're the cutest little bunch of 'Monsters' I've ever seen!

Maybe at some point we can do a virtual meetup via skype or something and have a live chat about these kids. They came home and I fell in love with them.

 

I don't know if I'm allowed to do this but I found a listing for a 5star yo on ebay that is legit, I believe it to be a Kathy on a boys body. Seems normal pink to me.

As I read the rules, it looks like self-promotion is a bad thing, but as far as I can tell, just mentioning something we notice being available elsewhere is fine.

Is it known that 5star dolls have been subject to recasting? If so, that's a shame. They seem to be very affordable to begin with, geezy-pete's sake! I know one of those dolls is listed by the original owner of my twins, she uses the same user name on eBay as she does here. She's been in the hobby for a long while, so I would fetch a bet that one is legit. Also, another seller of a yosd size 5 star boy also appears legit as the other listings by the same seller appears to be a regular individual just clearing out some nice items they no longer want. They look like good deals. I would even look into getting one possibly but I already have another layaway going right now for one I'm eager to bring home ASAP. An experienced collector can certainly find some great secondhand deals, the problem with eBay are the newbies that get taken advantage of by scammers. It happened that way to me back in 2010 and it took me 4 years to get that bad taste out of my mouth.

 

@Rabbit-moon - for me Yami and Aiden-5 are the ones that got away...

Still, I shouldn't be moping, as I do have plenty of them...

One thing I did notice that is driving me nuts at the moment, though, is that Aiden seems to have lost his tail... I've been moving dolls back and forth in my two small cabinets and somehow somewhere his tail must have fallen off. Which means it's probably still in the room - but if you saw the state of my room, you'd understand why that's small consolation right now... Grrr...

@Rabbit-moon That's good to know, it's sure nice to notify other collectors when something is available. It helps keep our own collections valuable and gives dollies a second chance to have a home and be loved. I can tell those two in your pic, Aiden and Yami certainly are loved.

@Fairy Milliner What a great looking crew! I'm sure if you keep checking the MP from time to time, you will eventually find the missing members if you are able. Neat to see the twins in a different resin color than my own, cool! There's also a few groups on FaceBook and ebay as well but I'm much more cautious of those, but...... I'm sure the honest collectors out-number the scammers. I know when I loose something, it's a sign it's time to start to clean until I find it.... I feel your pain.

There is a Pink Skin Quintus Girl in the MP. The eBay links to the boys are here and here. One comes with the official company bag, the other comes from a DoA member that uses the same user name here as on eBay. If I saw something fishy about either of those, I'd make sure to mention it. I'd bid myself if I didn't already have one in layaway right now. I hope I'm not being a bad influence on anyone.

 

Well, I cleaned my entire floor, and I found it... I also ordered some new magnets so I can put extra magnets between his body and his clothes. Hopefully that will help the tail stay put. And my floor looks so nice now!

Yes, I have the twins in tan. I saw them on the MP in white, I think (old posts, but they're still listed if anyone wants to check). I really need to do a better face-up on them, but the weather isn't great for MSC.
Jadite needs a dress, but her body is so cute I don't want to cover it up!

 

@Fairy Milliner So glad you found it! Yep, that's how I tend to loose things as well, and how I find them. Cleaning is one of my least favorite activities but nothing motivates me more than wanting to find something. Aiden is really cute, like a chibi version of Hellboy to me.

@Rabbit-moon Awe, yeah, she is really sweet looking. I think her faceup really suits her. Did you do it yourself?

I've so many plans in mind for this year. I'm currently working on carrying/sleeping bags for all my tinies, my son's dolls, as well as a few extra to give away among my meetup group. I've been struggling to learn to sew for my dolls and trying to learn since I was 11. Having a good, high end machine that gives prompts to dummies like me has been the key to get me started and enjoy some minor successes so far. In the long run, it will allow me to build wardrobes for my lovelies at less expense than buying them and it allows for better fits. It's just going to be a long road to get to the skill level I hope. The mer-twins have tropical fish print on their bags. I'll be sure to post a photo when I finish them. Once I have all the bags made up, next is fish tails!

These mer-twins I am lucky to have are really pushing me to make the air-brush set-up a goal for this year. I really like the job the previous owner did but noted that the difference between the pale pink and the dark blue makes it difficult to photograph them together. I want to remedy that for sure. I've a layaway nearly finished so then I'll have to decide between getting the airbrush or the next doll on my wish list. Maybe one day I'll win the lotto and get to play with dolls like it was my job, lol. Until then, I'm going to keep saving for retirement and hopefully bjds will still be a thing and I can play with dolls a lot more. Although, at the rate I'm going, I'll have a hundred of them. Oh, my!

 

Hello there, I've been following this thread for a while and been a little to shy to post in here but getting braver.

I currently own two Aiden dolls, Pain who is white skin and Panic who is red skin, two of my best posers!

I am really looking forward to chatting with you all and seeing your beautiful dolls.

Also 5stardoll have temporally released Jadite again, someone asked and they are now available on the website. I haven't seen this posted anywhere besides one thread in the ordering/shipping section so thought I'd let you guys know. I missed the last order and regretted it since, so I now have her on layaway.

 

Hi, @Miku_Plantman ! Aiden is a really neat sculpt. I get a little giggle whenever I see him in red as it makes me think that bad-boy, Hellboy, used to be so cute when he was little! It would be cool to see both of your guys, if you don't mind to share a photo sometime.

That's neat about the Jadite, it's a cute little doll and I like the color too. Thanks for mentioning it. I'd have a thousand dolls if money was no reason to hold back! Thanks to DoA, I get to enjoy a lot of them though, and that's worth quite a bit to me. I'd sure like to be able to hold one someday and see how Jadite moves. I especially like the wings and antennae.

 

@mollym Haha yes, baby Hellboy is the cutest! The only problem is the red resin is very pink but still cute.

I have a feeling that the antenna will be held in place with magnets? I may be wrong though. But same with the possibilities of infinate money. I fall in love with too may dolls far too easily too but also love seeing other people's dolls and how they style them.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your twin's fish tails.

@Rabbit-moon Ah I'm happy you managed to get your girl. Very lucky! I wonder if they are just bringing sculpts back in stages or if they will just open up for orders every once in a blue moon?

 

WHOOHOO! I hope you get your Amy soon. She's so pretty. I wonder if I can finally get my hands on a pair of Jadite antenni as mine did not come with any. She was supposed to but I was never able to get it straightened out with the company. And I really kinda like Anna...and Peter...and I'd better stop looking at them. ::flees::

 

It's tempting to get a Tong-Tong... But I've really already blown my doll budget and I need to keep some $$ reserved for if ever somebody offers to sell me a DC Jodie...
If it had been Yami and/or Aiden-5, though I think I would have thrown caution to the wind... LOL!!

@Rabbit-moon - I'm happy for you that you can still get Amy. I didn't really love mine when I first got her, but she grew on me... (I always loved her face, just not a big fan of her body...)

@Miku_Plantman - your Aidens are really cute. I think Aiden will always be my favourite 5SD sculpt. There's just something about that face...
(Also, I still remember when he was OT and kept sneaking into people's photographs alongside their on-topic 5SD tinies... LOL!!)

 

Would anyone be able to tell me if I can order the kid size tony with a child body (I like the extra joints) if not would you mind showing me what the kid size body looks like? Would a kid size head even look good on the other body it’s only a 4cm difference but I’d like to be sure

 

@Aara Maybe you could e-mail the company? They might have that body and head to be able to show you a photo!

It's New Year for the other humans in Asia, so maybe that's a good time as any for them to update the website. Heck, maybe they'll re-release the Aiden dolls!

Edit: When you browse from a different direction, Bibi is there, though... They're defnitely not done with the site yet.

I see they do not offer the beast arm for him, but he does come in the moon grey and purple. I think I may go for a purple one...

I'm going to wait and see what they do with the site, though. All this blinking in and out is making me nervous. I don't want to end up ordering a doll and then finding out it's discontinued after all...

 

Not a problem! And Bi Bi is still there, you need to go to their drop down menu and select 1/6 dolls and the full list come up.

I've asked if i could add on to my Jadite order because it was just under the threshold to qualify for the event and they have said yes. So I think I will be adding a moon grey Aiden 5 or 10 and I'm trying to decide between the event dolls. They are all really cute!

I asked about Yami, they have hinted a re-release but it won't be for a while. "Yami is not going to be released recently." Very exciting stuff!
