Rabbit-moon I love your Vivian and white rabbit - so cute together! My dolls arrived today - I love Hester and Jay, but Aiden5 and Yami are on the new generation body and Yami's middle finger on her left hand broke off - I assume in shipping as it was in the bag with her. I think I will just super glue it back on as I don't want to wait another 5 months.. They also sent a bat boy (without face-up) I am guessing as the free gift but no wings. I think he is cute anyway and will probably keep him faceless. I am tempted to order the Aiden5 that DDE has in stock to get the other body but I really didn't want the beast arm. I wish they had of shown options for the body when they were ordered instead of assuming they could use the new one which cost less. Just a hint for anyone ordering the Star5 dolls make sure you specify that you want the old body. All that sadness aside Yami and Aiden5 have adorable faces. I did try a yosd outfit on Puck (Aiden5) and it fit over his bigger bottom, but it is knit and probably makes a difference. I think Prudy (Yami) is going to be destined for knits and/or dresses and Puck for knits. Going to go play, hopefully I will have some pictures later.
Merlin's Mom, congrats on getting your dolls! I'm sorry that they pulled the switch on the 26cm bodies. I think that really sucks. If the Maggie they sent me hadn't had such a sweet face, I would have sent her back. (Additionally, I didn't want to wait another 5 months to get the right body.) But, about the hand, do tell DDE about it. Sometimes on small parts 5Star can be pretty quick. When I lost the magnetic hands to my TongTongs, Denver Dolls got me a new pair within 60 days! It was kinda amazing! Looking forward to pictures of your new darlings!
I emailed Denver Doll to let them know about the bodies and the hand - mainly so they can check with customers in the future that ordered Star5 dolls as to which body they prefer. Here is a photo of sweet Hester in her Summer outfit - not the best photo. I hope to get better ones later, have to go vote
Oh, Merlin's Mom! Isn't she cute! I love the coloring of her face-up. And, what a pretty dress! I'm kinda picturing a more girly wig on her with that lovely old-fashioned dress. What do you think? Glad you told DDE about the body, and her broken finger. Did they tell you they'd ask 5Star to replace the broken hand?
I haven't heard back from DDE yet. I have two more wigs for her, but this is the only one that looked right with hats. Here she is with Puck in her Spring outfit Edit: I heard back from DDE they are getting another hand for Yami, refunding me the difference between the original body and the new body ($20) and emailing 5Star to see what is going on as they were not informed of the change. DDE has great customer service.
Merlin's Mom, I'm glad to hear that DDE is going to get you a new hand and reimburse you for the body switch. Poor DDE, good luck to them trying to get a straight answer out of 5Star. 5Star really should have told DDE that they were changing the body. Unloading a cheaper, less posable body, on unsuspecting customers was not cool! Oh! Another new dress? She looks very prim and proper in that lovely dress. Your Aiden looks great! What a beautiful color his resin is! And, that wig is perfect on him!
Thank you Rabbit-moon. I really do like the service you receive at DDE. They always work to make things right. I told them when I emailed them that I didn't think it was their fault just wanted to let them know for future orders. Here is Hester in the curly wig and a Boneka dress I have had for ages. I am really enjoying my little vampire
Thank you Lubelle - Her wardrobe is due to the great information about Bleuette clothes that you mentioned. Here she is in her final wig and her winter outfit - this is the one that came with shoes and they fit perfectly.
Isn't she adorable - I really love her . Fashion show is over but here is Puck, Prudy (short for Prudence but she hates that name Puck calls her that when he wants to be annoying and Hester when Prudy has done something mischievous ) and Bat Boy (no name yet)
Last of my new little ones - Julia (Jay) would like to say hello. She also wonders where everyone else is with all their great dolls - Tong Tong, Aiden et all.
Merlin's Mom, your new dollies are awesome! Puck and Prudy are adorable! I love the colored resin! Your Jay girl is so pretty. I love he wig! I gotta say, Jay as a girl makes a very serious little missy. She makes me want to give her a hug.
Thank you Rabbit-moon - Julia fits right in with the other girls. Her wig is a Kemper Ashley mohair wig - I really like that it isn't as full as some of the mohair wigs - she grabbed it right away
Great pictures everyone. I've been waiting for my Jadite, and she finally arrived today (well, yesterday, in fact, but I didn't have the money to pay the postman...) She came with Jesse as a free doll. (I was smart and didn't get a free head... I would have ended up needing to buy more bodies and I really don't want to...) Left to right: Jadite, Event Doll 1, BatBoy, Quintus, Aiden and Amy - and Jesse trying to hide the fact he doesn't have eyes. In the foreground are Event Doll 2 and Ria. They will all need some TLC and definitely some clothes.
Lovely group - your Jadite is so cute. Looking forward to seeing your Jesse when you have him completed. Thank ahalfling - it took 5 moths but they are all home now including a Bat Boy I hadn't counted on
They are patiently waiting for the arrival of the newest member of the family but the little green girl has still not shipped. 5 Star Aiden Family by Kelli, on Flickr
I don't know. The doll is paid for and apparently ready to go but I've yet to be notified regarding shipping. It's only the 12th doll I've purchased from them, you'd think I'd be used to the wait. Nope. The reasonable adult in me is going 'Remember, you are not their only client and they are all the way in China so be patient." but the doll lover part is going. "You got my money. Gimme my dolly!"
Hello! I'm new to the forum and I went to this topic straightforward. I'm planning on getting my first BJD ever in May/June for my 18th birthday and I fell in love with Tong Tong, Nancy (both 30cm) and Vivian (26cm). I won't have a huge amount of money, not more than 200-220$ (and the delivery is 45$). I asked for unstrung doll and they said that the doll would be 20$ cheaper. But the thing is, that I cannot decide which one to buy. I'd love to get two pairs of shoes from them, so 75$ are only delivery and shoes. I've heard that it's difficult to find clothes for 30cm ones and I can't spend like 30$ on one piece of clothing from etsy, I'd rather buy something cheaper from wish or aliexpress (as it's also free delivery in most cases and I don't live in USA) or sew some clothes myself. Is it better to get one of the taller ones like Tong Tong or Nancy (I'd like to get a body with three joints in torso), even though finding clothes to fit them is harder, or go for the cheaper and smaller one that has two joints in torso? What is your advice on that? Thanks for helping me out!
I don't know how much help I can be, but I will try. I prefer the 30cm dolls. If you look on ebay the clothes and shoes that fit Kish 12" Bethany also fit the 30cm dolls. Also if you can spend a little more there is a special release Nancy that is a full set and though you didn't mention Jay there is also a special release Jay and these come with outfits and shoes. If you decide on the Star5 dolls (yosd size) be sure to mention that you want the original body and not the new single jointed body. Vivian is easier to find clothes for with the original body as most yosd clothes fit her and also most yosd shoes. It really ends up a personal choice and I think you will be happy with either size as they really are nice dolls.

Hi Fairywhale! Welcome to the forum! My only advice to you is to start with a doll you can easily get clothes and shoes for. I love my 30cm dolls, TongTong was my first tiny, but the search for a wide variety of affordable clothes is sometimes limited. My 26cm dolls are great and the ease of clothes buying is a plus. You can hop on Ebay and find all kinds of cute stuff without the added hassle of worrying if the outfit will fit. I agree with Merlin's Mom, be sure to tell 5Star that you want the original Star5 26cm body, not the "New Generation" body. (The new body is a bewildering step-back from the great jointing the older body has.) Again, welcome to the forum and best of luck with your plans to get your first doll!
Thanks for your responses, Rabbit-moon and Merlin's Mom! I've actually thought a little about this and I will probably go for littler Vivian, it's just going to be easier to find something for her (and I totally wouldn't be able to afford any of the special releases even though I've seen them and they are really cute). And the fact that I can order luminous ears for her definitely wins! So I guess I will go with 26cm first and then buy 30cm body or Tong Tong later. Once again, thanks for helping me and your opinion. Do you have any 26cm dolls from them? Can I get any photos of them?
You are welcome fairywhale! Yes, I have two 26cm dolls from 5Star: a Jessie-girl and a Fullset Vivian. Here's my Vivian dressed as Alice. We aren't allowed to post a lot of photos in the Discussions threads, but there is a Doll Snaps in the Gallery Section that has a 5Star pixs thread.
Oh, thanks for the photo Rabbit-moon! She looks even better than on the site! Uh, I really can't wait to get her. The thought of waiting next 6 months only to get her and then minimum of 2 months to ship her to Poland just kills me. And I can't do the face up myself, so I need to mail it to my favorite artist and wait for them, and the shipment... It's going to be rough time for me. But it's definitely worth it, so I try to wait patiently for this beauty.
Holy cow! You do have a long wait ahead of you! I must say that this hobby does require a lot of patience. You hang in there! It will be worth the wait when she finally arrives! Nothing beats the smell of new resin!
Never did get a shipping notice but my doll arrived, much to my surprise. I'd have posted her sooner but I've been ill. So, here she is, a human bodied Jadite. A human body, just like I ordered. by Kelli, on Flickr The resin is a lovely soft shade of green. At the moment my girl looks like this: So cute! I haven't figured out her new name yet. by Kelli, on Flickr Not how I'd pictured her when I bought her but you know how some of these dolls have a mind of their own. I'll have to wait and see if this her final look.
Wow! Kelli, congrats on your new girl's arrival! She looks awesome! I love the green color of her resin! More pictures, please! Funny how some dolls have a mind of their own. My TongTong is the same way. I had all these girly plans for her and she was like, "No!". Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. I hope you are all better now. (I live in dread of catching the flu. If I hear a person coughing at work, I run the other way!)
Kelli - she is adorable, so cute on the human body. I really like the resin color, she is very special. Hope you are feeling better - nothing worse than being sick this time of year!
I asked 5Star if they were going to have a Christmas Event this year, and they wrote back and said. "No". Oh well, maybe they will have an event in 2017 for the Chinese New Year. I'd really still would like to get an Aiden.
Oh, Jadite looks amazing on human body! The green looks very nice and the face mold is absolutely gorgeous. Great that she finally arrived!
Ugh! I couldn't help myself! I bought the last, lonely little Lotte that was still showing as "in-stock" at Denver Dolls! She really does have an odd little face; I actually think the Lotte sculpt makes a much better boy than a girl. But, I think with the right wig, she'll be cute. And, she came with the original 26cm body, which I love! You can see her little horns/antlers in the upper corner of this picture. (What are those antlers? Moose? Reindeer? Elk?) So much for waiting for the next Event Sale!
I like her coloring and her eyes. She has a distinctive little face, but I think she is very cute. Nice that she is one the original body! The one thing I do like about the new body is the shape of the hands - they are very graceful. Glad you caved and brought her home Almost forgot - the antlers look like either moose or reindeer to me.
Hi guys! I've been lurking this forum since August. But I guessed now would be a good time to jump in since my tan Aiden 5 just got shipped! However, he will be on the new generation body...I placed the order the 15th of September and they announced the change on the 30th. I'm not really upset because I do like the slim and and the hands (hands are my deal breakers). The single joints though...haha. I did request in the beginning that he'd come on the 30cm B-body, but they said the Aiden head wouldn't fit (I already bought bunny-nine clothes for him too T_T). Anyway, I can't wait to be active in this community! He's not going to have the right eyes, wig, or clothes since they have yet to ship, but at least he'll have a face-up!
Welcome Geo-Earthling, nice to have you hear. Anixous to see your new guy - I don't think I've seen him in tan. The new hands are lovely, and they actually pose really well even though they aren't double jointed.
Hey Geo-Earthling! Welcome to the 5Star thread! Glad you came out of lurking mode! The more the merrier! Congrats on the shipping notice for your Aiden! So exciting! What do you have planned for him? Does he have a back-story?
Thanks Merlin's Mom! Little Lotte is really starting to grow on me. Actually, I think she's much cuter in person than she appears in the promotional pictures. Yeah the new Generation body does have nice hands. And, thinner arms. I'm gradually getting use to the new body. But, Maggie is definitely going to be a "dresses only" girl with that big butt of hers. Anyway, I finally got Lotte squared-away, and here she is all dressed up in her Ugly Christmas sweater to say, "Hi!" I changed out her eyes to blue because 5Star used the same color green on the Vivian doll I have. I didn't want both of them having the same eye color. I think she looks good with blue eyes.
She looks so cute, even with the traditional ugly Christmas sweater . The blue eyes really suit her as does the color of her hair. I think she looks sweet.
Thanks Merlin's Mom! I anxious to see the tan resin too, I'm hoping it's a good match to his character's! (finger's crossed) Thanks Rabbit-moon! He is a boy kidnapped by a prestigious college due to his genius intellect with computers. They experiment on him physically and psychologically. Basically in the story, his twin sister tries to find him. His doll form basically embodies the age of his disapperance, while my incoming Withdoll Cathy doll is going to be his twin sister years later. Funnily enough, his character is obsessed with Christmas and snow, and he's going to come right before Christmas! I love the little sweater Lotte's wearing, so cute!!! And that Iittle nutcracker, omg haha.
Thanks Merlin's Mom! Don't you love that ugly Christmas sweater? I thought it was a hoot! I love ugly Christmas sweaters! (You should see the one I've got; it's got a kitty wearing a Santa hat! Ha-ha! ). Do you dress your dolls for Christmas? You do such lovely rooms, i was wondering if you do a Christmas room for them? Very interesting back-story on your Aiden, Geo-Earthling. Do you eventually plan to find a doll to shell him as older, like the Withdoll Cathy? It's cool that your Aiden is going to arrive around Christmas, since his character is so obsessed with the holiday. BTW, why is he obsessed with Christmas? Thanks for liking Lotte's little Christmas sweater. And, the Nutcracker was a lucky find at a Big Lots years ago; its about four inches tall. He was a tree ornament and works perfectly with my dolls. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's Lotte again playing with some Christmas toys. She's pretending that the family is going to go camping for Christmas, and her Dad has tied the Christmas tree to the hood of the car.
I don't dress the dolls for holidays - too many to try to dress them all . When I first started I had a tree and dressed them for Christmas, but got carried away buying dolls . Very cute scene with Lotte and I love your couch! Would love to see your Christmas sweater as I am a big cat fan.
Aww, that's a shame. I know you would do an incredible job if you decided to do a Christmas Room for your dolls. Myself, I don't dress all my dolls for Christmas, just a few. (I have way too many dolls as well.). But for the few I do dress up, I have my little tree and a few ornaments and that satisfies my Christmas-dollies-have-a-holiday cravings. Thanks for admiring the couch! It's the perfect size for the tinies! It was a very lucky find for me. I found it on Ebay from mybayer2008. I've bought a ton of stuff from her over the years. Unfortunately, this lovely print couch is currently out of stock. They have another couch, but in a solid dark color. LOL! I'm a big cat fan, too! Ugly Christmas sweaters w/cats are a personal favorite of mine.
I most likely won't, because I'm starting to get the feeling he's dead . I really just need to sit down and try writing out this story, so maybe his arrival will help with motivation in that department, haha. He became obsessed with Christmas because it's the only time he ever felt like the actual child he was. Since Christmas is about family, cheer, excitement, and snow. So when he kidnapped and began to get experimented on, his mental stability started going fast, and he really started to crave for anyone's love. So, he started pretending everyday was Christmas. He's a pretty messed up little dude. Is that a miniature gingerbread house I see lurking in the back!? Haha, you always know it's the holiday season when you see trees on top of cars!
Wow! Geo-Earthling, that is an interesting backstory! Poor little dude! But, like most fictional characters who suffer greatly in childhood, it only serves to make them stronger as adults. ( "A Smooth Sea Never a Skilled Sailor Made.") Has your little guy arrived yet? And, yes, that is a miniature gingerbread house lurking in the background! It lights up, too! Here's a better picture of it.
Waahhhh, So cute! No, he hasn't arrived yet sadly. The last update was on the 16th from Beijing China. So hopefully the updating is just lagging and he's somewhere in America...
Oh bummer! Man! The waiting after you get a shipping notice is the worst! I'm sure he'll get home to you soon!
Willie has arrived today, on Christmas Eve! I'm so in love, I was starting to get antsy about his size but it's perfect. However 5star doll forgot put a logo stamp in his head...But they did a great job on the face-up and they gave me an extra pair of eyes!
Wow! Geo-Earthling, he looks great! I love his big brown eyes! And his face-up is lovely. Congrats on your new boy arriving safe and sound!
Haha, his hair came in. I may need to trim it down some, but I'm defiantly not good with scissors + hair. Any new updates to anyone's resin crew? The Quintus sculpt is starting to tempt me, she's so beautiful, but I don't think she'll fit into the story.
