5StarDoll Tinies Discussion Part 4

Yes, mollym, Meng Meng is very cute! And, new dolls are always a plus. Actually, I'm sort of tempted to order her as my TongTong's little sister. Size-wise she would be perfect since TongTong is 30cm and Meng Meng is 27cm.

I also appreciate that 5Star put up the memory page for their old discontinued sculpts. That was really nice. I wish all companies would do that. The way things are with most companies, once a sculpt is discontinued, they delete all photos and history and it's as if the doll never existed. I think that is terrible!

(I have to admit, I am a little sad that all the old 30cm dolls are gone. Jadite and Aiden were such unique dolls.)

 

Love hearing about all your plans, Mollym. A vacation sounds so nice. I haven't been anywhere since the pandemic started. T_T I have pre-existing medical conditions, so I've had to be careful.

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought you already had a Bat Boy. *My bad* I wish you luck finding him on the secondary market, after your vacation.

You mentioned a wall-mounted shelf; since I've been stuck at home, Ive been plotting to put up wall-mounted shelves, too. My doll room is a mess! But, I can't decide between shelves, glass cabinets, or just bookcases.

Sorry ahalfling, wish I could be of help. I'm not familiar enough with those characters to suggest any dolls. And, it doesn't look like there are any 5Star tinies for sale in the Marketplace. (I just looked.)

The only YOSD-sized boy on the 5Star site is Peter. Sadly, not much of a selection.

This is such sad news! I can’t believe they are gone. My favorite tinies are 5Star dolls.

Another beloved doll company is gone. This just breaks my heart.

Hey, Pepperonipizza. I totally agree with you. This is such sad news. I’ve always been a huge fan of their dolls. And, I also would have bought more of their dolls. But, it had been a while since they put out any new sculpts.

I wonder what happened? It was probably COVID. From things I’ve read, the pandemic reared it ugly head again in China and there have been a lot of issues and delays. 5Star wasn’t a big company, maybe the pandemic was too much for them.

5Star will be sorely missed by the people who loved their dolls. We can only hope they will come back again.

For some reason, because I was feeling nostalgic, I went to visit the old 5Star site, and it appears to be back. Here is the notice that was posted in “News”. (See attached link)

I just bought a 1/6 doll they had listed. No name, so I don’t know who she is, but I just couldn’t not support their return. I’m not sure, but I think this girl may be a TongTong. But, it’s hard to tell because the face-up is so different.



I used the contact link on the site to send a message to them and ask them what happened last year when they disappeared and if they plan to return. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they will return permanently.

 

Wow! You have a Miss S! She’s such a lovely doll. 5Star was really ahead of their time with that doll. Now, a lot of companies have mature 1/6 dolls. I really didn’t appreciate that doll when she first came out. Now I know better.

Yes, it does appear that they are cleaning out their stockroom. Is it really a growing trend? Are other companies doing the same? I’m just glad they are back and hopefully 5Star will come out with some new dolls.

The 5Star Team got back to me about my inquiries about what happened last year when their site disappeared. Their response is below:

Wow! This sounds like great news. I was so afraid that 5Star had become another doll company that disappeared without a word. I sure hope things go well for them and they stick around for a good long while.

I confess I’m very nostalgic about this company because I bought my first 1/6 doll from them in 2010, my ancient little TongTong. I’m really happy they are back and look forward to their new creations.

Will post photos of my new doll when she arrives.

Hi Pepperonipizza! It was so nice of them to get back to me on my questions. 5Star has always been such a great company and so accommodating to their customers.

I’m so happy to hear them speak of future projects. It will probably take them a little time, but they will get back on track with new and exciting dolly stuff. I’ve got my hopes up! (Who knows? Maybe I’ll finally get my little werewolf boy )

Actually, you should contact 5Star and ask them if they have an old TongTong hidden back in their stockroom. Seriously! They have been so nice to talk to, and I bet they’d love to see your photo with all your 5Star tinies. They seemed genuinely thrilled to hear from their fans. And, I think they could use the encouragement. It can’t hurt to ask.

I sure hope they find a TongTong for you. She is such a darling little sculpt. And I think she's kind of special to 5Star, too. But, I'm just assuming this by the prominent way she's shown on their memory page.

I agree, 5Stat has always had great customer service. They are one of my favorite companies. That's why I was so sad when I thought they had closed up shop and gone away. So very happy they are back!

OMG! Fairy Milliner, she is so CUTE! 5Star did a wonderful job on her face-up.

Sorry she didn’t come with her little horns or paws. Maybe if you write 5Star, they could find an extra set of the horns and paws that they overlooked. 5Star is always so accommodating. It might be worth a try. But, it’s cool that you got extra hands. That’s always a nice bonus.

Fairy Milliner, what a great line-up of 5Star girls! They all look so cute.

Yeah, 5Star went through so many iterations on their tiny bodies. I was really saddened when they dropped the double-jointed elbows and knees. I hope when 5Star comes back with new dolls the double-joints are back.

I didn’t know that you had a Jesse! I love that sculpt!

I hear ya on the clothes issue. Proper fitting clothes can be a little difficult to find for the 30cm bodies. None of the pants I got for my Quintus fit. It was so exasperating! So I was very happy with the pants I commissioned from Pepperonipizza for my Quintus. They fit him perfect!

 

FairyMilliner, your Quintus looks great! All that attention has certainly paid off. What a cutie!

Oh my goodness! And, that sweater is so adorable!

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the Ken pants. That gives me a new place to look. (I don’t sew, but even I can hem a pair of pants. )
