I got my boy yesterday! ^_^ I'm so blown away my their amazing bodies I'm getting one for Moth!!!

 

So i asked 5star about why my boy's leg joints are different from the other 5star boy on the forum and this is what she said


The body is different because we are modifying some position of the body.The typle of body you received will be our final and default body soon.

Anyone else get this verrry elongated S-hook for the wrist joint? I plan on changing it out for a smaller one, if you're not careful when you pull out the hands, the hook scratched the inside of the forearm part!

 

I'm having trouble finding boor Lennox some clothing in his size... he is such a tall boy. So I'm going to have a friend make him some. Where did you get clothes for your Reika?

 

CuteKittami: I commissioned a seamstress that owns a small business nearby, I admit the clothes fit rather loose but I'm thinking that the general MSD size would fit them fine. 5Star hasn't updated their site in a while, I was hoping they'd have their line of clothes soon..OH and I think I saw that your boy doesn't have the W-sit thigh joints?

RaineFournier-awwh, it's a bit upsetting, but not everyone will like the style, which dolls did you find gorgeous? I admit that some of the faces are exaggerated features. : but Emma called out to me~

huhm. I think that the photos on their site do the dolls no justice at ALL. The faceups aren't as orange-ish in person, Reika has a default faceup and it's in very nice pinkish tones. The eyelashes aren't as gaudy, either...ALSO they use the old body in the pics, so the hands look too big and the head's disproportionate to the body XD

After reading this thread I went to try to get him to sit like that, and there must be a trick to it because I FAIL miserably. *laugh*

 

Tygati: hahah! It works, but then it's more like a 'right angle' sitting instead of a W shape...Those W-sit joints are really stubborn, the elastic gets caught in the slot when I try to get Reika to sit like that. Evil!

and I failed to mention that I looove the two-part knees they have! It's a really simple structure, but makes for some interesting posing

 

yeah they have knees like Pukis, makes posing easier and more diverse

 

yep! posing is so funny sometimes cause of those knees my only complaint is the kneeling and how the elastic is exposed+having to kinda balance them...

 

I'm obviously going to have to experiment more. I was convinced he couldn't kneel properly.

 

They can kneel, you just have to pop calf and knee joint out from the thigh and mess around with how they're balanced. looks kinda bad to me

 

you can't really see it in this shot, but I made her a dress and wanna-be mini jacket...thing out of an argyle knee-high sock.

autumnrain: The faces look soo much better now, and so do the faceups! I understand what you mean, the faces look like they would appeal to even MORE now~ They've changed so much of the body, it's a three-part torso now!

They now have the new items up on the English site, the price for a standard 1/4 doll is $190. *which is only $25 more than they originally were. *

I'm totally in love with the new Emma sculpt. Not sure if I'll end up getting one, but I can't wait to see some owner pics of her here on DoA

 

Has anyone ever seen any resin matching posts showing 5Star's resin with other companies? I am wondering how they match up with Iplehouse's resin? I am blown away by the engineering and posability of the 5Star 1/4 body as shown in these pictures that Doll*Fan sent me:

the doll is 5Star's white skin, and it's compared to several diff. resins a bit into the 2nd post. Hope it helps!

I think that Sha Sha looks quite a bit like their 1/4 doll Judy before 5SD did the body and sculpt changes. Tong Tong is just sooo adorable, and I'm debating whether to get Yoka or not! The style's so diff. from others I've seen, but I like it very much~ Anyone planning on getting one of them...?

 

I'm debating between Sha Sha or Yoka myself but I am not sure yet. I still rather like Emily too. I know my next doll is going to be an MSD, it's just deciding which one and I've been procrastinating on it for a few months now and still haven't decided!

eep, I hope you are able to figure that out! It's all about personal preference, so I can't say which you should get, they both have such nice faces! I much like Sha sha's eye-shape, reminds me of a DZ Tin-Tan but more matured. As for Yoka, I'm looking over whether or not she could work on Reika's old vers. body for diff. face expression~

 

Ah, your Emma is so cute. She's very delicate looking!

That's the same reason I like Sha Sha too. The eye shape draws me. I like that slightly lowered look she has going on. I'm thinking of waiting until they release their clothing line as well. It'd be kind of nice to get everything from the one place. I like Yoka's outfit but not too keen on Sha Sha's and Emily's outfit is quite different too.

I love that you can choose to make a fullset doll from the choices they give you.

 

shirahime: thank you! do not let looks deceive, she has quite a mouth on her XD I like that choice! I really wish they would do the separate clothes, or maybe customer's can request for 'doll name's fullset clothes'..? Grahhh, I can't wait to see what their updated 1/3 line looks like! Has anyone got Yoka? She seems like a slim MSD doll to me. How does she compare with Resinsoul doll?

little_rika, I emailed them recently and they said they are planning to sell separate clothing but it would be maybe a month or two before it's released. I'd be stoked if they do because their clothing designs are quite nice and different from a lot of the stuff out there.

Ariss, I don't have one yet so can't answer your question either. Hopefully someone will see your question and answer. If they are as slim as RS dolls and 5SD are making clothing for them, at least that will be another option for RS doll owners in terms of clothing. I have heard the RS bodies are quite slim.

I actually found out about the company through a friend of mine who had been looking at one of their dolls a few weeks ago. I love the diversity in choices when it comes to BJDs.

I have an RS Fei and she's quite slim. Hardly any MSD clothes fit her. That's why when I saw the 5Star nude body I immediately thought of RS bodies.

 

Checking the measurements (here and here), the 5stars definitely larger in every dimension, though some of them are pretty close.

 

grahh, I just love how 5Star sticks to their own kind of style instead of trying to 'copy' the other companies~ the more I look at them, the more I want to have them! The newer clothes won't fit the older 5SD body cause the size is too small, though. awh! DX makes me sad cause I REALLY want Yoka's dress for Reika...hrm..

Ariss: I think it would depend just a bit on whether you get the 'younger' 1/4 BBB body vs. the 3-part torso 'Bobie' body:

the figures are a bit closer, with the BBB Bobie body having slightly larger chest, shorter legs, and slightly 'broader' shoulders. Either way, I think the clothes of 5SD could fit BBB quite closely? as Foxdragon said~

Yes, it seems 5Star is a bit chunkier than the slim girl body used by Fei and Mei.

 

Oh I wish I could get a Tong Tong. I think after I get the one I am saving for now... The Tong Tong is next on my list. I can't resist her cute!

dante12: I like this company since they are so earnest and willing to improve, as stated before~ I saw you had a concern about the knees/hands of these dolls. The knee posing of the new body is similar to that of AoD, it's a 'capsule' shaped knee. I'm not sure if they've changed the hand/foot s-hook system, but the s-hook of the older version wrist used to dig into the resin if you weren't careful...then again, several companies have this issue, a change of s-hook could be needed if the new ones have that issue as well!

I'm thinking about getting one of their dolls. Either Emma or Emily. I'm not sure they're both so pretty. I was just wondering what size eyes the mini size uses.I couldn't find any where that tells you. (Sorry if this question doesn't belong here I'm new forgive me.)

 

I do believe that Emma or Emily uses 16-18 mm. eyes~ I have 16 mm. for Reika with little gapping, putty shows a TINY bit at certain angles.

these dolls are great. Taller than most and a slender body. Closest in size to Dollzone and Soulkid double body, but a little taller ans smaller hipped than both.
