Aesthetics 3rd face up

Sep 26, 2017

    1. I didn't really have a goal except for "don't mess up". I'm pretty proud of how this turned out, but I still need some advice for brows and lashes.

    2. The one thing that sticks out to me is the blushing. Did you use a brownish color to do it? In some spots it just makes him/her look dirty. Especially in that first picture, around the eyes and the upper lip area.

I think the eyebrows look pretty good though. Maybe a little sparse? Trying adding more chalk pastels to fill in the brows more unless you were going for a thin look.

Anyway, great job overall, I really like the lips.

    3. I really like the use of darker colors for the shading. Not every skin tone is flush with pinks. The strokes on the brows and lashes look great.

    4. Very nice work!!! I think the shading in the ear, around the eyes, and the mouth may be a bit too dark. But, really strong work overall!!!

    5. You asked for advice on the brows and lashes; the eyebrows are quite high, I'd suggest dropping them down an eyebrows width, so the curve of the nose flows into them. Touch and compare the relationship of your own brow bone and nose. Your understanding of hair direction is spot on! Maybe try blending a little more dark pastel to bring them out more.

For the eyelashes, they are very long. My suggestion is to make them shorter, and more sparse, especially towards the inner eye. Adding some doll lashes to the upper lid would help balance everything else out I think!

Overall, nice work! The lips are especially succulent!

    6. Yeah, I used a brown and another color. I think I over compensated for colors because my last face up was very intense and saturated. I'm still trying to the the hang of colors. Thanks for the tip about the eyebrows, too. I'll give it a try next time.

I'm still working on colors and shading intensity. Technically, this is really unsaturated compared to my last one, though, so I think I'm starting to get it.

Yes, thank you. This is exactly the type of advice I was looking for. I was thinking the brows were too high, but I just couldn't tell. I'll definitely try to lower them next time.

I kinda have trouble judging the length of the lashes. If that's too long, I'll definitely try to shorten them next time. I think lashes are my weakest point, so any advice or critiques on them are greatly appreciated. I don't have any physical lashes to put on him at the moment, but I plan on getting some later.

Also, the lips are my absolute favorite part of this face up. haha

    7. Those are great eyebrows! The hair direction looks natural. They may look a little more polished with some pastel though, and by reinforcing the hair lines in pencil on another layer. Same goes for lashes, I like to add dark pastel along the lower lid to cover up the pencil texture but on your faceup it would blend nicely with the contouring you've already done.

    8. Yay! I'm so happy that it helped! The best thing we can do really, is to look at pictures of what we're trying to do. Drown yourself in a pile of eyelashes, haha! Looking forward to seeing your forth faceup!

    9. I too think that the eyebrows look really good :) Lashes could be less similar, shorter when closer to the nose and longer when further from it. Also maybe angle them a bit away from the nose? Another thing you might try is starting drawing the lashes only from the middle of the eye or leave them very light closer to the nose.

Sorry for weird explanations, not really good at describing eye parts for positioning. XD I do really like the upper lid and eyebrow parts of the eyes, very smooth! ^^

    10. Eyebrows are a bit higher then necessary (especially inside parts . And eyelashes are too long. They has the same length. It looks not enough realistic.

    11.
    12. I do love the eyebrows I've seen the feather look eyebrows I would probably have to practice on paper before even starting out on my tiny bjd:cheer
