It seems that the Obitsu company isn't making 1/6 size clothes right now and Parabox doesn't have any 27cm female clothes anymore. I am going to buy my first 27cm Obitsu body soon, and looking around on the internet I've been hearing different things about how Barbie clothes fit them. While the Obitsu body is a little shorter, it seems to really depend on the size of the bust and the era of Barbie clothes. The outfit I really like is the 2008 holiday Barbie dress. I had planned on getting the body with the small bust, but now I'm not so sure. I've also heard that clothes from dolls like Pullup and Blythe can fit well, along with Takara Jenney and some Barbie little sister outfits like teen Skipper. I'd also like to know if 1/6 BJD clothes and shoes can fit too. There are a lot of things on Etsy that come in 1/6 or yosd size. What about clothes from the Disney character or old Sailor Moon dolls or that are similar Barbie? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!
the old OBITSU 27 was my Go-To for about a decade-odd there, - late-2000's/early-2020's - and then the beautiful 2018 OBITSU 26 came available to me in quantity to upgrade all my Anime Dolls with. Just a Portion of them; - OBITSU 27cm. - - OBITSU 26cm. - - OBITSU 23cm. (original 2000's ver.) - - OBITSU 26cm. - - BANDAI Style Doll Body (close copy of TAKARA Licca body) and OBITSU 26 -
don't own any Obitsu bodies myself, but I own a few Volks Dollfie fashion dolls mostly males, but I do own one female body. The clothes that are meant for actual 1:6 scale action figures won't work. Most people outside niche hobbies seem to use the terms "scale" extremely "loosely," but they actually mean scaled-down-to-that-size, and nothing in the likes of how most "BJD" enthusiasts seem to use it. For example, chubby baby BJD that are 25-30CM are not 1:6 scale, because if that were the case they would be giant babies if they were life-sized -- like six-feet-tall-babies, right next to a grown life-sized-human-adult. Barbie is also not 1:6 scale (as is the case for most any fashion doll), she's considered play-scale because the proportions are off (giant head, tiny feet and hands, more legs than torso, ect.). The shoes meant for action figure females, that are labeled as such won't work, as Obitsu and Volks' fashion dolls' feet are tiny. A lot of those shoes are also meant to go on action figure type of ball joint, and not on actual feet. Maybe some Barbie shoes can work on them, but I don't own any unboxed Barbie shoes to try (I am a hoarder!), but Obitsu's female feet seem chunkier than Volks' anyway. The clothes also labeled as female action figure clothes won't work on Obitsu, because the proportions are simply not even close. Maybe some tops and pants might work, if you don't mind adjusting them, but most female action figures are more or less realistically proportion if highly idealized, while Obitsu are hyper stylized in a cartoony way. The BJD clothes labeled as "1:6" are probably mostly all meant for 25-30cm baby-ish dolls, and not adult/teen 25-30cm-ish dolls, so I doubt they would fit either, more so considering how slim/narrow the Obitsu bodies are, let alone the chunky baby shoes meant for baby BJD. They should really use "1:3" baby, for "1:6" baby-esque BJD, but that seems like using the term "scale" in a more correct manner, that is probably not what most people (mostly-bjd-buyers-sellers) care for. It would solve a lot of confusion, at the very least (just go look for "scale" related questions anywhere in the forum, and you'll see loads of confused people asking questions about how/why any particular "scaled" BJD next to the supposedly same "scaled" BJD, all seem so off, all the time). (; Probably not useful information, but it all has to do with the wrong "scale-terms" being used, to mislabel products for absolutely no reason (or logic) whatsoever. I wish it was something sellers/buyers stopped using so incorrectly, but I sadly doubt it will stop. At least, I would like it if it weren't used specifically for 1:6 scaled items, since that's really what I purchase on occasions, and rarely anything else (the inconvenience of navigating page after page of baby BJD shoes/clothes, instead of mature action figure stuff). DX TLDR; I don't purchase doll clothes that are ready made (unless it's Barbie, just to hoard/keep in box, and not use), so I can't help much with that, other than say a definite 1:6 scale action figure stuff won't work on Obitsu, unless you're willing to do a lot of alterations to the clothes. The shoes are also a no, because of the size of the foot and also because most use a ball joint to connect on to the figure. "1:6" BJD stuff is probably most if not all, meant for 25-30scm chunky baby/child dolls.
~looking for photos, brb~ I have Volks and Obitsu males and females from 21-27cm in several bust sizes. The tl;dr is Barbie, and most 1/6 scale fashion doll clothes will generally fit them but you might need to do some tailoring for an exact fit. With the boys it's hit and miss how big Ken fashions will be. For general sewing any 1/6 scale fashion doll pattern will be a good starting place. You might have to make adjustments for the girls with very large busts. The Jenny pattern books are also a good starting place. The Licca ones fit the 23-21 cm crowd better. With male 1/6 clothes, especially uniforms and suits, those are marketed towards scale military figures who are much more muscular. They can be tailored for a better fit.
It’s done on Reddit a lot, but kinda means “to make a long story short”. It’s an abbreviation for “too long; didn’t read”. People write long posts and add a “tl;dr” at the end. The tl;dr explains what essentially happened in a few short sentences in case someone doesn’t feel like reading the entire thing but still wants to know the basic idea. In this case we skipped right to the tl;dr to save time
I own an obitsu 26 body and if that can help, obitsu can also fir pure neemo M and Rainbow High clothes pretty well (except for the bust that is longer on an obitsu)for the barbie clothes, it can work but an obitsu is thinner than a barbie so you might need to sew a little or use pins For the yosd size, be careful because most "traditional" yosd dolls are larger than obitsu bodies, so their clothes won't fit
Mostly Blythe shoes are the best match for them (at least those you find on aliexpress with the name 'blythe shoes'), the shoes from the original "fullest" blythe will be a bit more narrow if I am not wrong but obitsu 27 For the pullip shoes on an obitsu body, they can work, but the original pullip bodies have very thin feet, hopefully from my experience their 'fullset' shoes are made quite larger so they could fit an obitsu fine as well I cannot confirm you that 100% though, maybe other people could confirm with pictures and everything
tl;dr Generally means 'too long, didn't read' and I've adopted it as a way of saying I've cut what could be a long post short and will get to the point. I used to run a 1/6 scale doll reference site and have a general 'no twins besides The Twins' policy which got me quite a few different types. My Obitsu 27 is one of the old hard busts and my last gals are some soft busts from around 2010 but it's all good. I can't say much for shoes because I don't buy many for my 1/6 crowd. The few Takara shoes I have came on a clothed doll and seem a bit wide for the Obitsus, the strap on Mary Janes might fit with socks. The only Pullip I have is a Taeyang body so he's no help with this.
My Obitsu 27 doll body arrived the other day, and I attached the head. I chose the version with the small bust like I had originally planned. I have some vintage clothes from my Mom's 60's era Barbie, and I tried those on last night. They were huge! The dresses and the one top I tried on were so big they looked like they had been made for a different scale! However, the one bottom I had that looked like a pair of pajama or casual pants seemed to work pretty well. My research tells me that the standard Barbie body has changed a bit over the decades, but I'm not sure how much. I still love that 2008 holiday dress... Does anyone have any experience with Disney ily 4ever clothing? These dolls are supposed to be Barbie sized and there are a couple of outfit packs that are really cute. On a happier note, I actually found somethings from my Vogue Ginny collection that work pretty well in the mean time. Some undies and a white, floor length nightgown that look more like a pair of shorts and a sundress on the larger doll. I'm not sure I'll be able to come up with a good name for her until I get her a wig. Right now with her bald head and basic dress, she looks like someone recovering from winning the Hunger Games in a Capital hospital. If Effie Trinket could see her, she would be calling for Cinna asap! I can just picture the scene, Effie delicately patting my doll on the shoulder saying, "there, there dear. We will find you the wardrobe of the victor that you are!" Aside to an aid "get me CINNA, NOW!"
@Skygirl Congrats on the arrival ! For the Disney ILY 4ever outfits, the size will indeed be very similar to barbie outfits (I have some and they are the exact size for "classic" barbie doll you can still make them work on an obitsu though if you use a pin for example or are sure to keep these clothes for our obitsu doll and can do some sewing to give them a better fit The shoes will be too big though, for the hats and others it will depend on the size of the head you'll be using but they are made for heads slightly larger than barbie dolls, I am sorry I completely forgot what head you were planning to use with the body
I've had my Obitsu doll Noelle for a few months now, I'm really happy with the way she turned out. I just don't know how to attach her picture to this kind of post, (sigh.) I just found out that Pullip made some extra outfits for the Cardcaptor Sakura doll they released a few years ago, and I'm wondering if they would fit my doll. If not, is there another kind of body I could switch Noelle's head to that would fit the clothes?
