Resin Comparison Dollstown body/head/resin matches?

Estella is about the same size as School Head A. I had my Marin head on the Bandi body for a while, and she had model-proportions, but Marin's head was smaller than Estella's. I think Kun would work fine on either of the Dollstown bodies.

 

I read aimee's article in the April issue of Haute Doll about K-Doll and Dollstown (the companies share the same resin, cast by Ozdoll). The article mentioned normalskin Dollstown resin matches normalskin Volks pretty well, and that whiteskin Dollstown and whiteskin Cerberus Project are almost a perfect match. As the latter is the hybrid I'd been planning for all along, I was very relieved to hear the news. ^^;

Well I have the white skin tone Estella on a white skin tone El luts body and the match and size is perfect..

 

I have a MSD size Dollstown normal skin head on a Volks body and the match is very close.

similar questions have been asked before but I'm specifically interested in the normal Dollstown resin match. Has anyone tried putting eg Estella/Bandi normal skin head on a different doll maker's (normal?) body?
Estella's head is available from Dollstown atm in normal skin colour but, unfortunatelly, not the body

well, I can't REALLY help, but on the Dollstown site, they actually recommend the Volks SD13 body as an alternate and show pics of their heads on that body... from the pics, it looks like the color and scale is a good match...

Is that correct? Anyone else have any knowledge on the DT resin matches, preferrably the pink/white? I believe that is both what Catsick and I are trying to match.

 

they are not a match but here's willow and enola....(bw and pinkwhite)
i don't know how much you can tell,but the pinkwhite is a much warmer white than cp's bw.

 

The headcap is Dollstown Pinky White and the leg is SOOM Cream White. Once you blush the body it's not a noticeable difference. I'm rather happy with the combination. I loved my DT Lucille head but I hated the DT body. SO when I saw Dianna's Lucille on a SOOM Cream White body I decided to make the switch. I took the pictures with GE Reveal lightbulbs so it's pretty true to life.

 

My DIM Eunbi head matches my Dollstown pink-white Seola very well.

 

I think I perfer my Volks white body more than my BW CP body with my DT head.. I got the pinky white and think the match is perfect! Plus the CP BW has a more yellow tint to it and not as creamy looking at Volks BW

 

i have a white yeondu head on a white domuya flexibody.
it's a very good match.

can anyone tell me what the neck hole measurement on the dollstown dolls are?

i heard that dollzone white, matches dollstown white resin exactly...

now, i wonder if a dollstown head could fit onto a 70 cm dollzone body. dollzone says that the neck hole size would need to be 11 cm.

(i heard the dollstown heads are quite large, that's why i'm thinking the 70 cm would be a more proportionate body).

firstly, just pointing out the differences in the new 2008 minimee heads:


This is the SMALLER head on the DT body - faceup will be forth coming as I am now inspired to do the faceup

Orientalskin is a very good match for Volks normal.
The new freshskin is more like a very pale normal rather than the pink toned white it used to be.
Paleskin is a very white color that typically matches the yellow toned CP whites.

 

I've got my Elysia head (paleskin) on a Thaasa I body (white). Resin match is pretty much spot on. The head is a little big, but I can live with it:

 

Volks heads look great on this body. I don't have a school A but I have a Heath.

i have an AIL Elijah WS head on a Dollstown "paleskin" body and the match is dead on perfect in color and texture.

 

I had an Estella head on an Elfdoll body; and I had a DIM Eunbi on a Dollstown elf body, that was fab. I wish I had kept that elf body, but the seller wanted it back and I didn't mind getting the money back. Still.... wish I'd kept it ;-)

 

Dollstown Paleskin (the whitest color) matches Delf white very well. Freshskin would be a better match for Real Skin white, I would guess. I don't have my real skin SDF yet, but I will by next week!

So for Volks NS, Oriental skin or freshskin would be a match with it?

 

Somewhat OT to recent discussion, but I just got an Orientalskin DT15 boy body for my Iplehouse Barron head and the fit and match are really, really good. If I had to nitpick I could say that the head's a teeny tiny bit paler than the body but overall he rocks. A few example pics for anyone curious:







As to the match for Volks resin, without having tried a Volks head on the body I think the resin match wouldn't be perfect; the orientalskin seems to me a bit more yellow than Volks NS.

 

...ah! It is yellower than Volks? Which probably means it's quite good for Soom NS, who seem to have a yellower resin tone than Volks does...?

 

I guess that would depend on what sort of Soom NS you have...my friend and I ordered an Io and a Bix from Soom and they both arrived recently. Her Io is a nice NS, slightly more yellow in tone than Volks, I think--but my Bix is very pink in tone, which I didn't expect. I'm not sure if this was unusual for Soom, but if they have this much variation in their skintones I couldn't begin to guess whether or not DT orientalskin would match it.

But looking at the photos it seems like this body has problem of neck being too short just like how for domuya bodies the neck looks way short with other heads? I read that the neck is thinner than SD13 so I'm afraid it'd make the head look bobbly and neck way too short proportion-wise....

 

I don't think the DT necks are too short. A human neck isn't much different (proportionately speaking). I wouldn't want the neck to be longer than the head is tall. I have a Domuya body.. and that does have a short neck, you're correct. Without a neck collar, other heads practically sit on the shoulders of the Domuya body.

If you're concerned about height, you could buy a neck collar. Cool Cat sells them for $1 and Luts has them for $2. Also, I've read that these necks need a little sanding for some heads (such as Delf heads) so the height would depend on how much of the neck you sand down.

sorry the photos are a little "funky", but it's all i have right now, it at least gives you some idea of the matches.
IMO:
* the AIL white and DT pale skin are a dead on perfect match.
* the Elfdoll NS and DT fresh skin was "near" perfect, slightly off
* the AOD BW and DT fresh skin are a very good match.

 

I just made a Soom/Dollstown hybrid so I figured I would post him in here! He's a Soom IO head on a Dollstown 15boy body, which I believe is in Oriental Skin based on the fact that it matches Volks very well.

In artificial light, the match is perfect:


In natural light, the match is horrible. (Soom's head is WAY pinker than Dollstown's body.) However, no matter what settings I used on my camera, I couldn't get the mismatch to show. So it looks almost perfect:


krystina - I have a Dreaming Doll body kicking around, so I can compare it with the Dollstown one if you like. I'm not sure how much it will help you since I'm not 100% sure of the Dollstown body's color (I can only guess based on what it matches, since I got it secondhand).

 

Here's a comparison of Dreaming Doll (left) and Dollstown (right, Oriental Skin). The photo was taken in natural light, and the match is nearly perfect! If anything I'd say DT is a hint yellower.

 

this is the only photo i have currently of my Hybrid doll, Shinydoll Nanae on the DT elf body, she is wearing standard MSD clothing and shoes, with the exception of her jeans, they are actually SD size, a bit big in the waist, but no so much that they are unwearable, i actually think the bagginess is cute!

i know the photo is a bid odd, but maybe it can give you some idea of how the clothes look on her.

 

I'm looking to order the new Dollshe sculpts, which use the same resin colors as Dollstown (more or less, or am I mistaken?). I had my eye on using a Super Senior Delf body for this, or also a Buddydoll M. Has anyone tried matching these resins, preferably the White skins, but I'll go with NS and Freshskin comparisons, too.

Dollstown and Dollshe are indeed using the same resin and color palette.
Luts Senior Delf real skin white and Dollstown pale skin white are not a match. Dollstown white has a creamy yellow undertone and Luts white has a pink undertone. I have both here, as well as Luts real skin normal. I did at one point have the new Dollstown oriental skin, but that was darker and a touch more yellow than Luts real skin normal. The closest match between the two companies would be Luts real skin normal to Dollstown fresh skin.

I've been considering buying a Dollstown body for my Volks Liz head, but I'm not sure which of the DT-girlbodies would fit her best. So I'd be really interested in seeing Liz (or similiarsized Volks heads) on the Dollstown 13- and 15-year girlbodies.

 

For Your Liz head I would recommend a 13girl body (colour should be orientalskin), because the 15girl is too heavy and too mature. Liz uses to be on a SD10 Volks body which is more child like. Here is my School head A girl (the head is bigger than Liz and more mature) on the 15girl body.

NOTE: In person the Soom CW is a very close match to the Dollstown Paleskin, I know the photos make it look like FDoll is a closer match but not as close as the DT PS in person! There is very little difference since Soom's CW is very yellowy and all the DT resins have a yellow undertone. The FDoll resins all have a pinky undertone (that is with the exception of the PureWhite, which has no undertones at all, it's PURE white).
The FDoll PureWhite and the Doll Family White match extremely well.

I bought a Fdoll ws secondhand but dont know how old it is but its not white enough would the pure white be a match ?

The Pure White FDoll actually does match the Dollstown skin a little better than the White FDoll resin in my opinion. Although, the DT resin seems to be a little more in between the two, the Pure White is fright-white. The White is a bit pinkish-toned to me and the DT resin has a yellow-undertone.


TOP: FDoll Pure White, DT Paleskin, FDoll White

Soom and DT whiteskins are a perfect, perfect match, by the way. I have a Beryl head on a 15girl body who looks fantastic; i'll put photos in this thread as soon as i can. (note to self!)

Double post, but here's Anbarin; she is a Soom Beryl WS (cream skin) head on a Dollstown Paleskin 15girl body. The only color difference is due the the faceup; it's otherwise a perfect match.

 

Sorry about the delay! I didn't get round to taking pictures for you til today. Anyway, I hope they help. My body is freshskin, so obviously the resin match is utterly horrible, but proportion wise I think it's a pretty good match. DT is a very 'solid' body - it's heavy and it looks heavy too. I think it works quite well with Leeke's big heads. I really really love my DT body - it's my fav out of my boys bodies. It poses so well and just feels very solid and well made.

 

Here are my twin Lucy's. Glorydoll Milky on Dollstown elf freshskin bodies. A pretty perfect match imo.

As I said, proportions-wise it's great, but the neck is a problem. You'd probably have to add onto the neck hole in the Hye head with epoxy to close it down somewhat, otherwise the S-hook slides right out.

 

The doll in these pictures is put together of Dollshe(hands), Soom(lower torso, feet, head), Fairyland(arms and legs) and artist cast parts(upper torso): http://www.users.on.net/~twigling/saiph/lishelove/ but they are all in different stages of greening/yellowing, due to different age. I would say if they were all brand new or made at the same time they would work together really well. The mismatching isn't bad enough to bother me, though.

 

Also deeply interested in photos of this, seeing as I have a hybrid of realskin white and Crobi's SW and a better match is always welcome @_@;

PS. aihre, I remember you PM'd me about my awkward hybrid after you saw him, but I'm not sure what photos you saw, so here's a resin comparison I took a few months ago (the white balance is kind of crazy but I hope the differences are visible):



Head: LUTS Realskin White [Pink-ish]
Body: Crobidoll Soft White Lance [Quite yellow-ish]
Hands: Soom Cream White [Blindingly white, but probably leaning towards a yellow undertone @_@]

 

Okay! Now having both a Dollstown Soph in WS, and a Souldoll Sydee in WS, I can answer definitely:

In my humble opinion, the resin match works. I also have a closeup of their legs (the only part of resin on them uncovered at the moment that doesn't have some kind of faceup/blushing on it)

i have used that combination.... this is the DIM event head on the DT 15B body in fresh skin.... i didn't have to mod anything.

 

I also need to know what the Orientalskin matches. I just ordered an Io in that skintone thinking it would be easier to match bodies to it as opposed to the Freshskin, but now I'm wondering if I made the right choice. ;_;

St.James, do you think freshskin would match Volks better? (just because I use Volks as a base for my internal resin color-chart knowledge)

 

Freshskin is essentially a paler shade of orientalskin. It has the same pink undertone as the orientalskin. Sometimes if I'm looking at my freshskin doll parts on their own, I mistake them for orientalskin because there just isn't any difference in hue between the two, just value. Freshskin is closer to matching new Customhouse normal. I don't have very many normalskin dolls to compare, but I bought a pair of freshskin hands just to see what color it actually is now. I should take some new photos of all of the parts.
