I've been loving this kind of thread for the past couple of years. Pretty much all items on this list are ongoing goals. As always, my ultimate over-arching goal is to enjoy my collection. My goals are mostly framed in ways that help me do that. In 2025, I kept an ongoing personal log of the things I completed and checked into the goals thread on a quarterly basis with a summary. I found that doing this and checking out what others had going on with their goals inspired me to keep the momentum going. I'm going to do this again in 2026 and see how things go. Spoiler: 2026 Goals Move along: I reorganized everything in 2024 and it resulted in a pile of items that I can't use or that I just don't want anymore. In 2025, I added more to pile instead of taking action to move these items along. Will 2026 be THE year that I start trying to move things along??? I have SO many wigs! I want my floor space back! Continue being mindful of doll and doll-related purchases: Being mindful means (to me) that I shouldn't buy impulsively, and should consider what actions I have for the purchase and what I currently have going on in my life and in this hobby. Reframing things in this manner has helped a lot with avoiding regret with any of my purchases. I'm at a place where I know what I want for my collection. I have set plans for particular characters that I want to shell, and have been sticking to that. I now usually only order dolls during sales or special events, which tends to keep arrivals of new dolls spaced out. I can probably call 'being mindful of my purchasing' a habit at this point, but I still have things that need to be moved along. Which includes some dolls. So I'm tying this goal to my 'move along' and 'reorganizing the doll cabinet' goals. I should move along anyone that I'm no longer connecting with before I add anyone else to the collection. Continue crafting for my dolls: This remains my biggest ongoing goal and I have enjoyed this immensely since I reframed how I approached crafting for them. I let inspiration guide me, and do my best to not allow myself be lured into situations where executive dysfunction can take over (like cutting out multiple items at a time to sew -- that doesn't work for me!). And most of all, I keep reminding myself that there are no deadlines for anything! I can work at my own pace and nothing bad will happen. I have no one to please but myself. I don’t have much free time anymore, and I learned last year to be okay with spreading out a project over a period of time and enjoying the process rather than trying to do as much as I can in the available time and stressing myself out. It isn't a race, there are no deadlines. Part of this goal is enjoying the process and not worrying about the amount of time projects are taking. At the time of writing this post in December 2025, I've sorted through my UFO Box and made some decisions. Either completing the projects, repurposing them immediately, or letting them go. I doubt I will finish all of the projects by the end of 2025, so I will carry working on these UFOs over into 2026 if needed. I would like for this box to not exist anymore, as some of the projects have been in there for more than a decade. What I will keep is the bag of my earliest projects that I would like to remake eventually with the refined skills and patterns that I've developed since then. I'll also be venturing into prop-making in 2026, now that I have made the space and acquired the supplies/tools to do so. Very excited to get into this, I have a lot of ideas! Reorganize doll cabinet: This is still just mostly an idea. I have a concept of a plan, lol. I have definitely reached capacity with the way everyone is arranged. So I need to take some action to avoid having to pile dolls on each other's laps. But as mentioned in my 'mindful of purchases' goal, I should move along anyone I'm no longer connecting with to free up some space for the dolls I have planned. Spare parts also still need new storage that protects them better. I've already had a finger on a doll hand break off with the current storage solution, and I'd like to avoid further mishaps. The boxes for these parts should also be moved out of the doll cabinet and into the doll room closet for easier access. Reorganize fabric closet: I kept the closet tidy in 2025. I should probably review and edit my fabric stash, but the closing of JoAnn has … inspired... me to hold on to most of it ("but what if I could use this for something?!"). I have grown weary of unloading the closet every time I want something or to put something away. My idea is to completely gut the closet and build a new shelving system with adjustable shelves and move my fabric stash to smaller totes. Smaller totes = stash review and edit. Maintenance: The usual things -- there's always someone that could use a cleaning, (new) hot glue sueding, and new elastic. I also have some posing modifications planned for some of my dolls, but my courage is still pending on that, lol. At the time of this post, my Iplehouse Akando is still waiting on me to fix things so I can put him back together. If I don't manage to get to him during my vacation time at the end of December 2025, then maybe 2026 will be his year. Catalog collection: This is truly a wishlist item. It's something I would like to have, but I just cannot get myself to actually do it. Maybe I'll try again in 2026…
My 2026 collection goals... I've been trying not to make goals, if only because I tend to find that it never really works out for me. So I will say my achievable goals for 2026 are... Sew some more: in particular, I really need to sew some more male clothing, as my Granado 31 is lacking in choices. He needs a good wardrobe available to him as well. Find shoes for dolls that need them. As always, improve my photo taking skills. Maybe learn how to make wigs (and also re-root but that doesn't count for BJDs)
My 2026 goals: Buying: No more than 3 dolls. Shoes, though--I need to make sure I have shoes for everyone. Sewing: Definitely sew outfits for any dolls I buy, plus extras. Pictures: Find fun places to take pictures, for sure! I haven't done that much in the last few years. ...Aaaaand Dolk just announced a Suiseiseki doll. My poor wallet T_T
To restring about 5 bjds that need it & keep collections cool Volks outfits. And maybe buy few more Dear SDs for my collection. And start to work on some clothes for my dolls. I have huge bin of different fabrics that I need to use.
I can't believe it's already the end of the year! Doll/Shopping 1. Faceups for everyone who needs one! A couple of these are tricky because I need more of a fantasy paint job than a standard faceup, but hopefully I can find people to commission. 2. New home for the dolls in my office. I have a dream of a giant custom shelf to be their new home instead of the Billy bookcases. I love Billys, but I'm ready for something else. 3. Eyes and shoes. I have the hardest time finding eyes and shoes that fit correctly and that I like. I've also made a promise to myself that I am no longer purchasing pleather whenever possible, so that's made shoe shopping almost impossible. I'm going to try again this year to figure it out. 4. Wardrobe refresh. I have a lot of pieces that I need to sell and then I would like curated collections directly inspired by my characters. Crafting 1. I should really make wigs. I know how to do it and I don't mind it, I just never do. Specifically, I need boy wigs. 2. If I succeed in moving everyone to a new custom shelf, I would like to start decorating it and making it more of a home rather than just a place for them to stand. Creative 1. Update DoA profiles 2. Write more! My dolls are my original characters, but I haven't made any time to work on their story this year.
I've been really slowing down with the hobby lately, and more interested in other things, so I think I'm unlikely to buy any more resin in 2026. But I'm not completely counting it out. Maybe I'll suddenly get super interested again, or find a doll I really love and must have. We'll see! Really it would be better for me to focus on finishing the incomplete dolls that I have. Two of them need face ups, and one needs a body. But again, as I've been more interested in other things, it's quite likely I'll just let those projects sit and that's okay. They're not going anywhere. The only really solid goal I can think of is a low one! I want to restring my two JIDs and get them looking nice again. I've been meaning to do it for ages but I've been too busy/lazy/uninterested. I really would like to do it though! I enjoy looking in my doll drawer, taking the odd picture every now and again, and it would be nice to have the JIDs looking pretty with the rest of them, instead of the wigless, naked, floppy state they're currently in
My goals for next year: - Find a perfect doll for my character. Preferably Broken Maiden Moth, but that seems impossible so I just hope to find some other sculpt that would fit. - Give face ups for all my dolls that don’t have face up yet. - get rid of the dolls that have been lying useless in their boxes for few years. - And maybe try to make some boots for one of my dolls, since it’s impossible to find the right size for her.
Are you getting new dolls? Have set my eyes on a doll from IslandDoll, their Ming Chen, along with a body from Myou for one of my floating heads. Else I'm not thinking of bringing any more resin home. Want to sew up some clothing? Want to sew a Hina Ichigo dress for one of my YOs, also have plans to sew a dress from out of some gorgeous green fabric just not sure about what size yet. Give new face-ups? Have a few dolls that need to be painted at long last, some that need a re-do. Definitely want to give my LeekeWorld Benjamin a nice face-up to go with the gorgeous MyouDoll Caroline dress I got home a while back. Take a lot of pictures? Hope to take more pictures than this year, some outside ones would be nice. Also share them around more. Organise better? Need to make storage drawers for shoes, wigs, and other little trinkety bits to make it easier to get an overview of everything I've got, all sorted into size and type. Else I want to get my hobby room more organised and tidy than it currently is.
Since I finally found a body I was looking for, I'm not sure I'll be getting any dolls in 2026. I'll probably just focus on getting Irene a faceup and commissioning some clothes.
I'm trying not to set goals that are too rigid (since anything can change), but here are some tentative ones Are you getting new dolls? I'm thinking of getting a Dollmore Dear doll sometime next year or any of the other Dollmore dolls on my wishlist. Not set in stone, but we'll see! Want to sew up some clothing? Nope. However, I may order more Yo-sd sized clothing Try your hand at modding? N/A Give new face-ups? None of my dolls need face-ups at the moment Make that perfect prop? I may start buying some props (furniture, mini food, etc.) Take a lot of pictures? Not really. Although I'll probably create new doll profiles for my current colelction. I used to have doll profiles, but my collection has changed a bit since then. Organaize better? N/A Something else? Continue selling the dolls/heads I no longer want in my collection. I've been procrastinating putting them up for sale and my hope next year is to have that done
Are you getting new dolls? --My goal is NOT to buy another doll. lol But if I do have the financial ability, I want a iplehouse BID boy and KID boy & girl Want to sew up some clothing? --This is my biggest goal. Especially for a big boy I am receiving sometime next year. Try your hand at modding? --That is a possibility Give new face-ups? --Yes, for both mine and clients' dolls. Make that perfect prop? --YES! I want to build a convertible/collapsable prop to expand the scene. Take a lot of pictures? --I want to go out with my doll for photoshoot. I didn't have a gut, time and energy at once this year. Organaize better? Something else? --I don't have a room for doll. I don't even have a room to myself. It's been my struggle to make room for photo/diorama space outside my doll cabinet. I hope I can find a creative solution next year. Please tell me any idea that might be helpful! —I have been vaguely building a story for a while. I want to start writing about it.
Let's see how many of these get done! 1. Update the eyes on my fullset Orion fox, the ones he came with our nice, but I got more expensive ones and they are SO nice. The fullset ones are so matchy-matchy with the clothes and look good design-wise I don't want to make any big changes, just want to make them pop a bit more. 2. Get an msd carry case. Get an msd stand for Orion especially. 3. Try an outdoor photoshoot! 4. Figuring out a display options I am more satisfied with, possibly including a chair. 5. Not getting any new dolls, with maybe a few exceptions (a blank mini fox doll (dearmine lincoln bean?), another blank dream valley dragon if available, etc.) 6. Figuring out which dolls to keep, which to possibly send to new homes. I finally let myself get bjd's this year, I tried to catch up for lost time, and now I feel like I have too many. Maybe I have the right amount, but need to rotate the display. Time will tell. 7. Welcome my two wolf doll pre-orders! one is a fullset (dearmine ares inspiration), but one is a blank (dream valley robin werewolf) and will need a face up and body blush. 8. Finish body and face painting for all my small dragon dolls from dream valley (the sea dragon Umi, the drake Rubin, the mini dragon Bor). 9. Also finish customizing my dearmine lupy beans the mini axolotls, they need face ups and clothes 10. Face up and body painting for dream valley griffin dragon in black resin, smaller scale. I am debating if I want to make him his own character or shell one of my favorite story characters. His design is so cool and classic, it could be either, could he do both? 11. Finish customizing Rigel, he's got clothes coming hopefully he looks good in them! I'm thinking a scifi theme for him, to contrast Orion. Okay I think that's enough!
Yay, 2026 is knocking at my door, so it's time to take part in this thread too My Doll Plan 2026 - Maybe no new doll this year, sadly my budget is quite tight and family economic might not allow this. No worry, I still have money to buy cloths, wigs, eyes, props, etc. Just not enough to fully spoil a new doll, and I love spoiling my doll, if I can't, I better not having anyone new... Unless there's something really interesting release next year, so 'maybe' - I finish eyes & wigs organize last year, also most of the shoes and dress. What I need to do this year is find the way to store props and accessories properly - Continue my main photograph project. I got them half done last year. This year I will focus on indoor pictures and hopefully I can finish some more - Participate in Volks faceup class, if they ever have one open in 2026. This is up to Volks, so I don't have much hope for the success. Still I think I'll keep this resolution here every year until it's full filled. - And like what I have always done since getting in this hobby, bring every doll out for the photo trip outside at least once a year. - Organize my dolly stuffs a bit and sell things that I won't use. I plan to let most of them go cheap - Yearly maintenance, I might schedule a re-string and cleaning day, I think that is quite nice to do. - Hmm, and yes, maybe do some DIY doll props/clothing, but I'm not solid in this one, just if I have time and idea. Ok, that's it for now. I might come back and edit a bit before the end of the year. Happy New Year 2026 for everyone here in advance
I do have at least one doll who needs a face-up. My favorite artists have faded away and it's difficult trusting a new one. And I should probably put a few or more items up for sale. Re-stringing? I'm terrified. But I really must give it a go. However, my main goal is to get our spare bedroom transformed into a doll room. I've already bought furniture for storing and displaying, and wonderful art for the walls. I just need to clear out and organize.
My plans are pretty simple: get at least one of my floating heads bodied, and put finishing touches on at least a few dolls. If I have the spare cash, I would also like to get one of my dolls faceupped. I also probably need to go through my stuff again to see what I can part with. I'm running out of room for spare things. So I guess priorities: 1. body for at least one head (probably secondhand) 2. finishing touches as possible (shoes, clothing, wigs, eyes, etc.) 3. faceup for Miracledoll Miao, my Franken-deer doll (modded LLT Bambee), and/or Dream Valley Chaos 4. go through parts drawer, possibly props as well, sell/donate things
Wow! 2026 goals already? Well... I started making plans so let's go : - buying new dolls ? Not really . Just a clear body for my floating kyle head. And a sleeping head for my Mirwen (still praying). The big 2026 plan is : finishing my BJD show and start playing it in schools. - finishing to write the songs - Finishing to make the doll theater - setting, staging and directing the whole story with my beloved bjd actors Sewing projects : making clothes for my honey20delf (with all the lovely fabrics I bought especially for that like 3 years ago ) If I have enough time, I'd like to continue my "Amber Stone" project with all the photo shoots according to the story, creating videos to illustrate the songs (finishing to arrange AND mix the songs ), and starting publishing it BUT let's be reasonnable, I may not have enough time for everything...
I think I want to declutter more of my stuff and try to sell some of my dolls I feel quite bad about my hobby currently
Dolly Goals is one of my favorite thread. It’s inspiring to read what folks are planning for the new year. My ongoing goal for the past 3 years is to incorporate everyone into my Free Lands world: history, character, outfit, accessories, portrait, and DoA profile. The profile is the last step and according to my Notion database, I have 11 on-topic dolls to finish. No doll purchases next year. I’ve got old shoes that need to be repaired or replaced. Looking at eyes and am considering making my own. I regularly consider making my own wigs but I feel that is more character refinement than establishing the base characters. With the preamble out of the way, here are my 2026 goals: 1. Finish my on-topic characters. 2. Post more photos on DoA. I take plenty of pictures, I’ve not been good about posting them here. 3. Continue updating my next story outline.
My only goal for 2026 is to get my current dolls finished up. I have three commissions I'm waiting for to help my dolls get their full clothes, wig, and face ups. Crossing my fingers I don't get tempted by a sculpt to start a new project!
The big one is getting back into crafting. I was a little burnt out after a few back-to-back years of being a vendor. I always sold very well, which did make me happy. It just wasn't what I wanted to make, so that kind of burned me out. What you want to make, what people want to buy, and what people are financially able to buy don't always match up. Now I'm free to just make whatever I want for my own collection. ^^ I'll probably still bring my crafts to swap events as feelers, but it'll be way less pressure than actually making things with the intent to sell. I think otherwise, mostly just some collection maintenance. I'm not really tempted by any dolls outside of my collection. So far, out of six total BJDs, two have faceups that I LOVE. Two are currently with a faceup artist I have total confidence in. I think I'm going to send the other two to her as well. Thankfully they're not blank, but their faceups just aren't my style. I did take nice photos of them to immortalize their current looks, so I don't really feel bad about them being wiped now that that's done. There is also my Momonita. She has an awesome collection of clothes. Unfortunately, she has just one pair of shoes to go with it. I'm more crazy about the fact that they actually fit her than the style, so even that one pair isn't amazing. I also want to get her a wig that isn't just something I put together in 30 minutes. This year's shopping mission was my Baby Kumako, who I'm happy to say has a pretty great wardrobe now. Next year's will be Momonita.
Now here on the last day of 2025 its time to look forward to 2026 Last year I didn't get all done (if anything). A lot of things happened, that took my time from my dolls... so this year I set my goals lower and hopefully make it easer for my self * I have some floating heads now. if I could get 2 bodies for 2 of them, that would be great!. * All floating heads and 2 dolls don't have faces, would like to try to get just one done in 2026. ( never did a face up, so that going to be a challenge. or send one out, don't know yet) * Hopefully sell 1 or 3 dolls, I have unfortunately fall out of love with, they deserve to be loved by others . * Her DOA I would like to make doll profiles. maybe 5 in 2026? * Have my marketplace application get accepted her in DOA, have waited nearly 8 month now. (I had to answer a question again.). don't want to stress the team, så I just try to wait patiently . but when it reach one year I should probably contact them. 2025 was wild on so many sides. I have found nearly all my grails this year. that hopefully means not so much buying in 2026. - not a goal, just a hope .
Are you getting new dolls? Probably not, but you never know. I might, but I don't have any current plans. Want to sew up some clothing? Always. I enjoy sewing. I want to try to make sure all my dolls have wardrobes that feels somewhat complete, so that I have all the things that the character in question should have. No deadline, though. It's an ongoing project. Try your hand at modding? Maybe I'll finish my Imp (a resin soul Ming. he already have most of his mobility mods done, he still needs wings and tail.) Give new face-ups? I have several dolls that could do with a new face up, but none of them are urgent. We'll see. Make that perfect prop? Oh, there are always props to make. I don't know about perfect, but props will happen. Take a lot of pictures? I wish I was better at this. I will try. Organaize better? Not exactly better, but more. My collection is growing out of their clothing storage, so yes I need a few more boxes. Something else? I want to make more backdrops, furniture and other larger props for photography. Luckily, most of my plans are for the 1/6 crew, so it won't take up too much space.
I am sewing more doll clothes! This means less doll stories but I'm ok with that. Doll photography will continue!
While I may not be excited for the coming year, I am oddly looking forward to making up a list of doll-related goals for myself. Let's see if I can set some realistic and achievable goals this time around. The Purge. Something I've talked about and wanted to do for so many years now. This is the most unrealistic of my goals but an important one. I want to really take a hard look at the dolls I have and make some hard cuts. I have more than I can manage and would like to lower my numbers a bit. I also want to be realistic about dolls I will likely never 'finish' and who have been sitting as a blank WIP for years. To make this hopefully achievable, I'm going to say I'd like to sell (or at least list for sale, as I know selling is harder these days) 5 dolls. Any size but must be a full doll to count. (and this does not count if I reshell a doll as mentioned further on) Faceups. A goal that I set last year and will likely always have. I'd love to finish painting all my own dolls that still need faceups, but again, to be realistic while still pushing myself a bit, I'm going to say I want to at least finish 6 faceups. Priority goes to dolls that are not mine that I promised ages ago to paint. (I'm so sorry to my friends who are waiting still ) Modding!! This is a big one, but I'd love to try my first additive mods this year! I have a list of dolls who need elf ears either attached or sculpted from nothing and I've been too scared to try it thus far. Repairing or replacing old peeling vinyl. I have a lot of old vinyl doll pants/boots/jackets/etc that need to be repaired or replaced. I HAVE a repair kit. Let's actually use it this year! Last goal is a very strict NO NEW DOLLS. I've never gone a full year without buying a new doll but this coming year is the year, I can feel it. (helps when you have no fun money LOL) I will allow myself the exception of replacing a doll IF and only if I sell a doll first. Example being if I wanted to remold a character into a new shell. But I'd have to sell their existing shell first to fund the replacement. I did this once last year and it worked out great! That's more than enough goals for the year I think so I'll stop there. Generally speaking, I hope this hobby continues to spark joy and carry me through dark times. I hope the year ahead is better than we all expect. ♥
Are you getting new dolls? Hitting the ground running because I have to have Giselle and her preorder is gonna be in January. I also have a torso stand I want to order. It would have been a December order, but Dollyplanet's website is acting funky and I am waiting for them to respond with a fix or letting me order by e-mail. edit: nevermind, the torso ended up being a New Year's Eve order. Want to sew up some clothing? Always. I need to have less naked babies. lol Try your hand at modding? Knowing me, something will probably get dyed. Give new face-ups? So many. I did not do nearly as many as I was planning in 2025 Make that perfect prop? My eternal battle with hard surface modelling continues. Take a lot of pictures? Yes, but I don't know if anything will be like good quality photography lol Organize better? Yeah............. I need to sell some stuff and that requires going through everything... Gonna sculpt more heads also.
Personal circumstances are going to make this a difficult year for me, so I'm going easy on myself in terms of hobby goals... Curating the dolls Have as many dolls "photo ready/meet ready" as possible: having an acceptable faceup, wig, eyes and outfit – if they're missing something integral which makes me not want to take photos of them or take them to a meet, they're not there yet Avoid the "I could do this myself" fallacy and buy/commission things that are beyond my skill level or that I don't enjoy making New dolls Saying "no new dolls" isn't a reality for me – try to stick to "2 dolls must be made photo-ready before buying a new doll" Recycle any money from doll sales into doll funds for when something I really want comes up Cutting down the floating heads and bodies Wait for the parts I have on order for 2 of these (ANS61 for AS Hua Rong and Switch DongGyeong for IOS 65F). Sell the 65F body and Hua Rong head if the hybrids fail before sunken cost fallacy kicks in Keep an eye out for ideal parts for the floaters instead of rushing into buying "good enough" parts – the secondhand market is so slow that if I buy something that doesn't work out, I'm unlikely to be able to sell it Faceups and mods Practice when I have the time, energy and right weather Use Moonlit Wonder and Tianba's books to learn new skills Paint my new head (Switch Gyoha) Get some Milliput or Apoxie Sculpt to practice the mods for Gyoha If possible, redo my old faceups which I feel I could now do better on Stretch goal: gaining enough skill to wipe some artist faceups on secondhand dolls that aren't to my taste and redo them Sewing Stick to my fabric no-buy: no fabric unless it's for a specific project I've made a successful mockup for. I have fabric at home! Have a workable kimono pattern for all my doll sizes (currently working on SD10/13) Stretch goal: also work out patterns for haori, hakama and monpe Get a handle on basic shirts and pants for the Big Boys with incoming patterns Try casual basics for the SD10/13 girls with my existing patterns Photos Keep practicing with the camera (2005 Panasonic Lumix FZ20 DSLR) Go out for more photoshoots when time and weather allow Get the dolls "photo ready" so I want to take photos of them Organisation If possible, buy custom storage for dolls and doll-related items (probably an Ikea Pax or Kallax system. This also relies on working with my family to clear old furniture/appliances/etc out of my living space) In a perfect world, I'd work on a small diorama setup, but I don't think that's a reality this year Props On hold unless they're character-significant (pending diorama/display space) or I have a very concrete photoshoot plan Other Go to as many meets as possible with the lovely local group Set up a website for my own image hosting and doll ramblings (also a deterrent against doomscrolling)
I hope I don’t jinx myself, I’m very bad at keeping goals when I make them Are you getting new dolls? Nothing planned, but that’s not a no either. First few years I was in the hobby I collected a few a year. Last year after a very long hiatus, I got five new ones, pretty much doubling the size of my collection. Granted most were second hand, but still! I can slow down lol. Want to sew up some clothing? Yes! I hope to continue sewing for my dolls this year. Even more I’d like to begin making some shoes — an embarrassing number don’t have shoes right now. Try your hand at modding? Sort of. Not quite modding, but fixing up a damaged doll. There was one I got last year for very cheap, I love him but he’s got some weird mod/damage someone else did that I’d like to fix. I would have liked to have done that this past year, but I have had some health issues getting in the way. Give new face-ups? Yes! I whole bunch of my dolls desperately need some new face-ups. This I wanted to do last year but the weather was horrible for doing them. Now it’s too cold. Hopefully I can get these done in the spring time before the humidity is horrendous. My doll Gremory has been bare-faced for a while. The cheap/damaged doll will need one. I’d like to do face-ups for both of my Rozen Maiden girls. Two of my Souldolls need some fresh faces. My Luts Bory girl also desperately needs a new face-up as it’s become a bit faded. That’s seven dolls that need face-ups, oof. Make that perfect prop? Not making a prop, but I wouldn’t mind getting a few more dolly chairs, even if I don’t make them. My housemate had gifted me a doll bench/chair thing he found on eBay and it fits three of my dolls. I love it so much and would love to get some more furniture like this for my dolls. Take a lot of pictures? Yes! I haven’t been too harsh on myself for this last year because of health issues. I’m having surgery in a month though so I am hoping that helps a problem I’ve had, or at least make it not so debilitating. So many times I’d make a new dress for my dolls and not feel well enough for weeks, and I’d never get around to taking pictures. Organaize better? Yes Something else? Hopefully this doesn’t count as advertisement since I am neither doing it yet and am not ready to start soon, but I hope to start selling doll clothes I’ve made at some point. Not sure if I will be ready for that this year, but it is a goal of mine to do that eventually!
I need doll stands and thinning out the collection. I need to get a better understanding of what I want. What still has magic to it? Are you getting new dolls? It's GOING to happen, isn't it? Want to sew up some clothing? I need to, but I don't know how. Try your hand at modding? Sanding...sanding... 1: Sujan's left thigh channel, sand to almost 5mm, b) check elbow for sanding (arm does function as intended) 2: 1/5 doll body: a) right knee - minor sanding, b) check wrists and ankles if sanding needed, c) string tighter, d) sand neck shorter this year? 3: 1/4 doll body: a) joint peanuts needs sanding, b) wrists and ankles needs sanding 4: tighten string on one large doll, wire legs of two large dolls 5: might throw a wire into a couple of 1/4 dolls (for one it's investment worthy, but with the other it might not be worth the adventure of unstringing her to tighten her legs) 6: body blushing on 1/4 dolls?? Give new face-ups? Yes, but I've never been an artist. (I'm tempted to find an artist for a couple, though.) Make that perfect prop? . Take a lot of pictures? I need a better place than floor, for pictures. Where should I photograph, now? Organize better? * Staring at doll with new self made face up but now only one eye. Shrugs about being able to accomplish that. * Something else? (not sure yet.)
I’m trying to spend more time with my dolls this year, first and foremost. Most of my goals are craft oriented. - I’d like to sew and customize more clothing. - Learn wig making. Make a wig! - Try some furniture and accessory crafting. - Continue to buy secondhand as much as possible. - Commission faceups for floating heads.
I achieved most of my 2025 goals so let’s see how 2026 goes! I’d like to participate in Volks USA FCS if there’s a sculpt offered that I like. Take more photos of my dollfie dreams Dress and display all my dollfie dreams as they’re almost all stored due to space I’d like to turn my DDH-09 into a custom Fancy Lala. I’m waiting on the wig but I’ll make the outfit. I’d like more storage solutions for my doll shoes. I have doll clothes and shoes in an IKEA cabinet I’d like to get behind the door storage for them I went overboard buying dolls in 2025 so I’d like to not do that again in 2026 LOL
I try to be realistic. ~ Go to UK mini Con in Reading 18th April 2026. ~ Do a face up for my Demiurge Dragon. Make a stylish wig for him. Make a set of clothes. ~ Take photos of the old face up, wipe, do a new face up for my Pygmalion Ha. ~ Get at least 1 hopefully 2 bodies for the 2 floating heads. Strongly depends on the financial situation. I know what I want, where to get it but put it on hold till I have a clear overview of the situation. ~ Get a 1/3 horse. The same as point above: know what, where, how. Waiting for clarity. ~ Get a 1/3 dog. Or leave it for later. NBD ~ Make la Robe à la Française / Versailles style dress. Powdered wig with all the possible decorations on top. Matching man's set or kilt set. Think "Outlander" where Claire went to the ball in the red dress and Jamie in a kilt. Except I have materials for yellow/light blue dress. This is a leftover from not fulfilled 2025 plans. ~ Make some more historical or pseudo historical sets for 2 dolls at least. Bridgerton/Empire style. ~ Take the dolls to interesting locations for lots of photos.
This year my goal is to spend more time with my current dolls. Over the years, I put more time into buying dolls then playing with them and I'd like to change that this year. I don't regret buying a bunch of dolls due to how much more expensive they'd be now with tariffs + some of the dolls I have were only sold for a limited time. But now that I'm decreasing my collection of everything (manga, figures, etc.), I'd like to appreciate what I have more. Additionally, I'm practicing my painting skills so I can do my own faceups. This year I'd also like to do more creative stuff with my dolls like sewing, and knitting them clothes. As for buying new dolls, I'm only getting one this year (hopefully I stick to my word). The giant salamander doll body for a head I got last year. I've been eyeing this body on red note because I've always wanted a plus size bjd and when i saw a bjd dealer was offering it to people internationally, I couldn't resist. Especially since they're selling the body in a tan skin tone. My plan is to use the head I got along with this body to make a short-stack gyaru. I've been seeing so many drawing of plus size gyarus on red note and love the idea!
I figured I should just repaste last year's goals, because all of them still apply. I am honestly happy because in December my workplace got a great work Christmas gift - a new board of directors, so I hope there'll be increased financial transparency, increased wages/salaries and less abuse overall. We have gone from a private "family business" to a proto-corpo uni and I couldn't be happier! I hope this will mean I will not have to treat my home like a Bed&Breakfast anymore but an actual home where I can craft, sew and doll! Anyway, last year I had the following goals: + make SOME clothes + maybe make some wigs actually + take just enough decent photos to create dolly profiles on DoA + find new loving homes for my resin crew FS + avoid temptation to bring home any new resin. So, the first 4 still apply unchanged. But the last one? I wouldn't mind another SD girl in the crew Just because I need some refreshment and variety But we'll see! I've been neglecting the current crew as is :P Anyway, I wish everyone that their dolly dreams and goal come true in 2026
I am currently going through all my dolls, their clothes and accessories to sell them. It's been lovely looking at them all again, and looking through this forum too as I used to spend a lot of time (and money!) here.
Creative goals: Sew clothes. Highest priority is to get the Dream Valley Collier finally clothed, should be easier now that I’ve completely changed her intended style and removed her tail. Make at least 1 bag. Make jewelry. Complete 3 more dolls. Create doll profiles for any doll that gets to a presentable state this year. Dye some mohair. Make 3 new wigs. Get my modded DollLeaves Ida’s modifications color matched to the resin. Do faceups for everyone that needs them. Seems like that will be Myrtle (I want to shell her back to Mystic Kids Vanetta)(also I might make her into Juniper instead who would need different color brows anyway), maybe child version of Willow (don’t really have to though yet as getting a new body for that head is very very low priority), the DL Ida and Dream Valley Freyja if she arrives in time for faceups this year. So, 2-4 faceups total. Sculpt horns on the Freyja head. Continue writing stories about my characters. Ideally start the story that’s ”canon” about the main group, as the first one I had started about them was more loosely based on them which I originally didn’t mind, but now that I know the characters better and there’s so much story that I really struggle to remember how things go in each version, I would like to work towards having only one consistent story. Take and publish photos more often! Late last year I switched photo editing softwares (or rather, from an editing software to a processing one, installed RawTherapee thinking it would be like Photoshop only to find out that all this time I had been using the less ideal kind of software for the type of stuff I’ve actually been wanting to do with my photos ) which got me feeling really inspired about photography as well after many years of feeling like it was a chore. Goals depending on my financial situation, in order of priority: No new dolls first ¾ of the year unless the perfect shell for Leucothea, my mermaid character pops up. As much as I want to shell her I’m honestly hoping she won’t pop up before the end of the year though, as it seems my finances this year will be even tighter than last year and it might end up being a struggle to afford her even on layaway. Buy filters for the gas mask so I can actually do any faceups, unless of course I can manage to get all of them done using the one pair I have left over from last year. Buy buckles and whatever other various small metal things I don’t yet have for making bags etc. Ideally both in basic metal and golden colors at least. Buy materials and some more appropriate tools for jewelry making. Buy white alpaca for Havu’s wig. Buy more eyes. Rhodeia still doesn’t have what I want for her and the incoming Freyja might need some as well, though in latter’s case I do have some already that might work for her as I don’t have any set idea on her eye color. I also have some potentially suitable eyes for Rho coming in the same order as Freyja so if I get really lucky I might not have to buy any new eyes for either of them. Other goals: Go through all the clothes and wigs and do some slight reorganizing, mainly separate out all the stuff I basically never use but have some reason to still hold onto anyway. Also I need to get around to adding name tags to the clothing boxes that still don’t have them.
Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about some goals in the hobby that I want to try working towards this year. To start smaller, I definitely want to work on sewing and putting together multiple/seasonal outfits and just build up my dolls’ wardrobes a bit more. I’m also thinking about display and storage since I don’t have a dedicated space for my dolls right now, and I have clothes and tools etc all in one tiny plastic bin haha. I have a nook with built-in drawers in my downstairs hobby/storage room, just perfect for a display area. (the whole room needs a rework but that’s beside the point lmao) As for bigger goals, I am very interested in attending Resin Rose Expo this year. I would also really love to make my first secondhand doll purchase! Anyway, I’m interested to hear what everyone is working towards in the hobby this year. Do you have grand plans or just going with the flow? Are you manifesting a grail? Are you trying something new? As someone recently getting back into BJD after a very long break, I’m excited to see where the hobby takes me this year.
Keeping the list short in the hopes it will actually be achievable this year. I want to get all my unpainted heads a face-up (especially now they all hae bodies) and settled with wig eyes and at least one outfit. Plus, no new dolls this year. There is no room for the ones I have (including most of the unpainted ones) as it is. That's it. The heads are being packed up to send for face-ups this week, so I'm off to a good start at least. Teddy
I’m already in progress with my first goal! I’m remodeling my doll room now, paint, new flooring, new furniture soon. I’m excited to have a more organized space . My other goal this year is to be very selective with new doll purchases, I’ve got quite the full house.
I did end up getting a different doll then originally planned. Not because it got sold, but because someone just caught my eye a little bit more. I did decide to add two more characters to my list of dolls that I want to find for them. I hope to get one in February, and one in March. Then I really want to save my money, and do stuff with the dolls that I currently have.
I've been meaning to post on this but the last couple months have been wonky for me. My goals for this year aren't that different from my goals for last year, annoyingly. Main goal: finish customizing the dolls for me dnd character and her friends by nyc dollcon. This is....going. I tested the airbrush and sealed her body parts for blushing, but i need to wipe it off some of them because I got heavy handed. I haven't colcor matched her friend's body yet because i feel like it probably needs to be primed first, but the primer i have is a spray can and it's wayyyy to cold for that. For that matter, it's also been too cold for the airbrush (since we need to open a window to vent the spray booth through, and I'm not doing that when it's -20 out). I've been trying to modify a couple heads to see which I like better. I just started ear mods on one today. I don't really like doing sculpting mods, so hopefully this will continue to go okay-ish so i can get them done by the end of this month, to spend most of March working on the faceup. And the wig...whihc i'm sort of dreading because i don't like making wigs either. But I got the wig I had for her taken apart and overdyed to be a more suitable color, so at least I started something for it. I also started drafting a bag to carry them in. I still haven't decided if I'm going to keep the two boys who've been waiting for me to customize them for the past few years. I don't have a lot of motivation to work on them, but I also am feeling some of the sunk-cost fallacy about the idea of selling them. *shrug* I haven't started anything for the customization of the doll I got to be a different one of my dnd characters (a tiefling bard), but he can wait until I have my main girl and her bestie done. And I haven't received the off topic girl i impulsively ordered last spring yet, so working on her will probably be a much later in the year or next year project. I don't think I'll get any more dolls. I haven't seen any new ones I really want or am willing to spend so much on, and the idea of moving is still in the air for us, so I don't want to add more to my group if I'm just going to need to move them right away anyway. I do want to do more sewing for my girl and her friend. They'll still need their formal outfits, and I had an idea for another one for her too that I'm excited about (hopefully the fabric will behave so it will look the way it does in my head). But those will be projects for after the con. I also still want to make way more accessories for them. She needs her sword and a fishing net. He needs his healer's kit and some whittling tools, and maybe a book. IDK where i'd get 1/3 scale whittling tools or a fishing net, but that can be a problem for future me. I want to take some nice pictures of them, so I'll need to work on photography skills. And maybe figure out some photo props for them too...
Goals for 2026! I had a great time crushing goals in 2025 and hope 2026 is as successful! Definite Plans Photograph, craft, and sew more for all my dolls especially now that the crew has expanded! New manicures for new sets of current hands! Acquire more hands (hand holding ones!) and feet too! Get faceups for at least the two blank heads! Maybe a new faceup for Miyuki so she's no longer default. Attend more doll meets including Dolpa in September! Upgrade to better wigs. Upgrade to all glass eyes for the crew. Sell off or give away doll items I no longer need or want. Do changing themes for the doll cabinet! At least monthly outfit changes for the girls! And look into some themed outfits. Get shoes and accessories! Maybe Plans TBD Good luck everyone in fulfilling your goals! I fulfilled my last 2025 goal by getting doll bags back in January! So that chapter is officially closed. Can't wait to see where 2026 will take us!
I want to save for a new 1/3 boy and save a lot incase a grail comes along! I'm planning to not buy another doll though for at least the majority of this year unless its a grail. What I do plan to spend money on this year is lots of stuff to build my clothes collection for my volks boy! I also plan to rename him, flesh out his character, and maybe even mod his faceup!
Are you getting new dolls? Well... yes, but not on purpose alskdjakl I have to save up for my next serious custom boy and I won't be doing him until I've finished MY end of customizing my current boy, which will take time and money. But, is a small doll coming home from convention with me later this year? Yes, at least one-- but since I might be shopping for my sister if she's unable to travel again this year, some of them may not be mine. My goal is to not buy a new doll this year BUT, if I finish getting my current project doll made up, as I hope to, it's possible I'll be getting a head this year. Want to sew up some clothing? I am definitely continuing to crochet away-- when I got a new girl last year, she stole the one dress she could fit, and in a collection of mostly boys, girls with curvy hips are out of luck when it comes to pulling from the shared closet. My goal is to make a sweater dress for Robin so that Ariel can keep the dress that wound up looking really good on her, and I have some very nice yarn that suits her. Try your hand at modding? NOT my wheelhouse. Give new face-ups? BIG yes-- most of the dolls in the house need them and I'm the resident miniature painter, have enough face-up experience that I'll be doing a lot of them for my sister as well once I'm able to get to work. She's drawn out some really gorgeous ideas of what she wants for her dolls and of course I know what I'm planning for mine. I also have to blush a head and body to match each other! Make that perfect prop? I'm not ruling it out-- as I get my dolls' looks put together and make sure everyone has at least one staple outfit, etc, and go over the props they have, I'm sure I'll discover there are also props they still NEED. Not every type of prop is withing my ability to make, but some are, and I'd love to be able to set up a room box for them-- whether that happens this year depends on a couple of things. Take a lot of pictures? I always want to take more pictures and I so rarely manage it... I really hope this year I get a lot of good ones! I know once I start doing all the face-ups I'll be taking progress pics, I just have to remember to also photograph the finished result with everyone's wigs and eyes back in place! I hope I can find my favorite prop (currently stored in the garage somewhere I fear). Organize better? Yeah that's probably up there with 'get a face on everyone' in terms of importance... Something else? I've got some stringing to do, and I've got to get a wig cap, glue some magnets into headcaps and accessories... Sister has a garage kit coming so we'll probably do some stringing/re-stringing together when that arrives, and do other little like tasks.
Last year, I didn't have any specific plans for my BJDs, but ended up doing a lot of writing for their characters and stories, and hardly any photography. This year, I still want to continue writing, but I also really like to do more photography stuff!
New My goals are painting a faceup that I'm happy with, and continuing to learn how to sew, both on and off a sewing machine. c:
New Are you getting new dolls? I'm brand new to the world of collecting BJD's so I'm definitely getting new dolls. I ordered Henry & Ivy from Raccoon Doll about a month ago. I'm also thinking of ordering Damien & Annie from them too. If SartoriaJ has a MSD release that I like this year (hoping for the Andre or Elliott sculpt) I may order from them too. I keep looking at Iplehouse FID Rex as well. I'm trying to pace myself but there's so many gorgeous dolls! Want to sew up some clothing? Oh yes! My dolls are going to live in historical eras (mostly late 18th to early 19th centuries) so I will be sewing for them. I have the patterns, fabrics, and such I'm just waiting for Henry & Ivy so I can do some mock-ups on scrap fabric. Try your hand at modding? I'm not sure what that is so I don't think so. Give new face-ups? As much as I'd love to I don't have the skill for that. Make that perfect prop? I will probably try. I have a few things in mind that I'd like to make. Like maybe a walking cane for a Regency gentleman. Take a lot of pictures? Definitely! I'm excited to take photos of my dolls. Organize better? I've been working on that since last year. I still have much to do but it's gotten a lot better. Something else? I sold off the non-bjds that I've lost interested in. Doing this has been a positive for many reasons; I'm only keeping the dolls I absolutely love which gives me a lot more space, helps with organization, and it also gave me a nice budget to put toward bjds instead.
New What plans do you have for your BJD's this coming year? I usually love making these goals every year. New Years is my favorite holiday and looking forward is always so fun. This year is different though. Because I suffered a tragedy mid 2025, I feel like I can't make goals. So, I think that that means what I should do this year is simply enjoy my dolls. Calmly in any way it comes to me. Are you getting new dolls? I don't think I'm ever not getting new dolls, but I want to control it this year or cut it in half (or less). Want to sew up some clothing? Ideally yes! I don't have room for a sewing machine but have been thinking about it more and more. So I think I want to start with small projects? Whatever that means xD Maybe a bag, or some leg warmers. Something I can hand sew. Try your hand at modding? Omg NO Other people who have those skills impress me, but I do not trust myself lol Give new face-ups? I've wanted to try faceups for a while but I am NOT good at it. I don't even mean in the way I need practice - I am just not good at them. I'd like to try to blush some parts though! Or do manicures. Make that perfect prop? I have an allergy to props for some reason so probably not lol Take a lot of pictures? I want to take so many! And I don't want to care if it's "pretty" or not. I'm SO exhausted with worrying about aesthetic doll photos or even seeing overly photoshopped dolls pictures. It's just not appealing to me in any way and often takes away the "magic" of the doll as a medium. I just want to take normal lighting phone pictures this year. And if a doll pose or face strikes my heart, I just want to lift my phone and snap. Not worry about setting something up before I just take a picture. Organize better? Always always always looking to make this smoother. I have a few things I want to try this year! I have way, wayy too many dolls and it's overwhelming to even dress them up because of how many clothes they all have. I want to cut down on some dolls, but I also want to organize their clothing better so it's much easier to access. Something else? Honestly I just want to enjoy my dolls as they are. Old school way when I first joined the hobby. Staring at them in awe and dressing them up and sitting them next to me. I think this year I need that.
New This turned into "clear the whole wishlist and get done with it". I've had more or less the same molds and a few "types" on my wishlist since the very start, and I decided to get them out of the way now rather than later. Because it's mostly small makers, I'm not sure how long I could've waited to get everyone at a more leisurely pace, and it's also getting more and more difficult, expensive and annoying to import dolls in my country lately. I still ordered clothes and wigs to get everyone already at home a complete outfit, not ideal but OK. So the actual 2026 plan is: - Buy 2 of the 3 bodies I need - Now that I finally have a sewing machine, sew some stuff from patterns (already working on something) - Get fancy 16mm eyes for Yanagi if 14mm won't work. - Change Leona's wig - Outfits for the dolls yet to get bodies - Buncha shoes??? - Set the budget aside for a camera, in view of black friday or 2nd hand deals Anything extra is welcome but I want to achieve this at least. Technically I still have one unfulfilled doll-related wish, which is that of a doll with a big toothy smile - specifically a mischievous, asymmetrical grin or smirk, but those two I've found which checked the right boxes were not available in any shape or form, and I am not into them enough to start a grail hunt. So maybe in the future, but I can say I'm done.
New I had left out the hobby for a while, so I really want to get back into it and give my collection a refresh ! I'd want to get a new doll if I can ! Mostly I want new wigs & eyes sets for my girls, possibly selling one of my dolls too since I haven't really connected with her... And I really want to try and commission someone for the first time !
New I just ordered a new doll even though my last 4 additions are all still unpainted and in hodgepodge clothes... so this is the year! I'm going to get my collection up to scratch while I wait for the newbie so she doesn't have to come home to join the Cabinet of Shame! Top priorities... The 4 blank faces. We're coming up on prime faceup weather (after the rain but before the heat) so I need to get it in gear. Two faceups I actively dislike and want to re-do. Wig and outfit for Cecelia Wig and outfit for Ume Shoes are already on order Wig and outfit for Trill Outfit for Sumire Outfit for Dove At this point, everyone has at least made some progress on the road to their final form. Future work... At least 3 dolls have faceups that are okay but could use a refresh New wig for Morgan New wig for Dove New wig for Snow Outfit for Puki Diorama/seats for the tiny mermaids New wigs and outfits for the micro dolls Create/update doll profiles for everyone I also have a couple miscellaneous tiny dolls that I want to sell, so that might help fund some of the other projects
New March is almost over already (HOW???) Maybe a good time to check in with the quarter-year progress! I wrote this on the 1st of December and even before the year was over I bought a new doll This technically stayed into 2025, does it count? Yeah, I've been sewing! More importantly, I've also been sewing for myself - dolls will never use up the larger fabric pieces I have but human size does it more easily, and I'll still have some leftovers to turn into 1/3 and 1/4 clothes afterwards. I also used up lots of *tiny* scraps for a 1/3 patchwork dress which felt good to put to use. I definitely feel that I've gotten better and more patient at sewing, too. I've made 2 wigs in 2026! Learned a new technique! I think I'll make a couple more. Did not stop me from also buying wigs, though maybe? we'll see soon Bought a roll of film, put it in the camera, still filling it up! I don't want to fill the roll right away so it'll still be a bit until I manage to have it developed, but it's been nice forgetting what kind of photos I've taken of my dolls and I'm excited to see what came out! I'm also thinking of maybe getting my hands on an instant camera or one of those thermal print ones but it is low-low-low on any priority list. I've bought a few doll items unfortunately, even if I wasn't really planning to. Not really proud of that lack of progress here, but maybe I'll be better in the next 3/4 of the year. Only one pair of shoes bought this year, though!!! This at least must be a record of some sort. All in all - crafting is going well! No-buy still needs work. Let's see how things have progressed in like... June I guess.
New As it's near the end of March, I thought I'd check-in with my progress as of first quarter of this year. Link to my previous post, in case anyone is interested: /posts/13249599/ Spoiler: Q1 Check-in: Move along: Early in the quarter I made a rough to-do list of tasks that need to be completed to get things organized. I was gifted a label printer that allows for multiple lines of text, which should help out quite a bit once I start organizing. I also managed to sort through my eye boxes and made significant edits. This added to The Pile unfortunately, but it felt good to sort the items that I'm keeping. I'll continue trying to get started on this, because The Pile is taking up valuable floor space. Continue being mindful of purchases: I've been holding to my stipulation of no new additions until I get the doll cabinet reorganized which is where most of my focus has been. However, I do have an indie sculpt on my radar and will probably jump on it as soon as it's available. Continue crafting for my dolls: I managed to finish my UFO box by Christmas 2025, so I didn't need to carry it into this year. It was really freeing to complete or let go of those unfinished projects and come into the year with a 'clean slate'. This quarter I updated a few patterns for my 55-58cm girls and made some simple outfits for them, and also started working on modifying a jacket pattern for my Iple Evan. It's a complex pattern, so I've just been working on it here and there and not allowing myself to get frustrated with it. Reorganize doll cabinet: This was my primary focus. I settled on sizing/style for the stands for my larger dolls, and acquired the necessary hardware and supplies and got to work. Still finishing up at this point, but I'm very close! I have all the pieces, I just need to assemble at this point. I also acquired new storage for extra resin pieces (e.g., hands, feet, heads), and made modifications (added dividers) where needed. Reorganize fabric closet: I initially started with a rough list of tasks that need to be completed to reach the end goal, but have been hesitant to start as it's been difficult consider parting with some of my fabrics now that it's harder to source them (RIP Joann). But it really needs to be done. And I did manage to keep the closet tidy when retrieving items or putting them away. Maintenance: I commissioned a faceup for an older doll with some faceup damage and got her prepped and sent off. Maybe I'll get something done about my Iple Akando and/or restringing a few dolls in the second quarter of this year? Catalog collection: I looked into some options and decided to settle on a simple solution for now (spreadsheet). I am very much a data-driven person and would love something like AirTable or Notion, but I have more than enough projects at the moment, lol. I made a list of the information I would like to track, and am considering a few different ways to arrange the information. Thoughts: I think I did okay, but not as well as I would have liked. Other things required my attention this quarter, so I prioritized the doll cabinet reorganization. I'm doing what I can, when I can. And I think that's all that any of us can do.
New It's the end of March, the end of the first quarter so I thought I would check in. 1. Got so many new eyes. For Orion my gem of doll fox doll, and also my dream valley griffin young Dragon (who is still nameless, playing with Temperly-Lieb). Have yet to try them or put them in. I think I got at least two, maybe three each? Yeah that was fun. 2. Got a carry case- it's a cheap tripod and even at 50 cm long Orion doesn't fit very well (He's supposed to be 48 cm I think?), even without his ears. Lack of protection makes me nervous to squash him, I have just ordered a slightly larger tripod case. Let's see if this works. 3. Success! Got an outdoor photoshoot in the ice and "snow" ice! Ice comes only every few years where I live, so this was a treat! 4. Nope. No chair. Thinking of changing up all my displays to shake things up and find more room for the boys. Might wait until Robin gets here too. 5. Found a dearmine Lincoln bean in my desired resin color... only available as fullset, but I do love the face up. Made sure to buy him in December so it wouldn't count for this year Dream valley has not re-released their dragons yet. If I encounter a good "girlfriend" for Orion, I'll probably buy her. Yes I know Belinda was made for this role, and she was beautiful, but I couldn't get over her harelip. I want to eventually turn all of my dolls into "couples" but I want to see how many I actually end up keeping. So far, Orion and Rigel have won my heart in different ways. Looking forward to seeing how the other two do! 6. Was originally only going to rehome the sea dragons (too much shrimp in the body, even though I love the heads)... now I am considering all dragons except griffin dragon. I still want to paint them first, because it's fun, but I only have so much room. I am still sitting on this decision. 7. One of two is home! Dearmine Ares inspiration wolf is here! Kind of an exciting shipping incident too, will probably detail in his box-opening thread. Still waiting on Dream Valley Robin. No rush. So many things to do in the meantime. 8. No progress on this front. 9. Got the liquitex matte on the dearmine lupys and am experimenting with pastels! It's been a fun trip so far! Need to add some more color and need to seal them. 10. No progress on the face up etc. for dream valley griffin young dragon. Leaning towards making him his own character. 11. Rigel, Orion's twin brother, has clothes. They are emo and not sci-fi so probably not endgame but he looks hilarious and at least he's not naked. Adding some more goals: 12. clothes for dearmine lupys 13. More photoshoots with multiple dolls 14. doll profiles on here 15. start using social media- any good places to spam doll photos? They're cluttering up my phone. I'm thinking instagram. 16. I bought some 1/4 human heads that look like mature males (tianba lev). My reasoning was they're not actual dolls, just accessories right now. Orion has an official human version and while I like it I don't like it enough to buy it. This head could be his human version. I don't care for human heads on animalistic bodies, but I thought this would be a fun way to experiment with human heads and possibly buy proper bodies for them next year. Because yes, I ended up buying two in different resin colors, one for Orion and one for Rigel. Further reasoning included that it's hard to find mature male heads separate from bodies at this scale, even harder to find one with multiple (three) faceplates. Downside: no faceup and I have no experience. Upside: I can now get experience? That's the last of my current goals, adding to the large face up list with 6 more! Also need wigs and eyes... Final note: I also got a stand for Orion. Works great, was cheap. When I rearrange my displays I will see what else I want/need in that direction.
