2026 Goals For The Year

Dec 1, 2025

    1. With the hope of the coming year it is time to make those goals for the future!

What plans do you have for your BJD's this coming year?

      Are you getting new dolls?
Want to sew up some clothing?
      Try your hand at modding?
      Give new face-ups?
      Make that perfect prop?
      Take a lot of pictures?
      Organaize better?
      Something else?

What do you want to do? I love reading everyone's plans and updates throughout the year. Let's do this!

    2. A new goals list for the year…I’m so in! I absolutely love these threads and take part every year (and rest assured I’ll be happily keeping up with every post that others make in here too.) I always find it so interesting seeing what others are planning for their dolls every year. Personally, it’s a wonderful opportunity to take stock and keep track of my plans for my crew, and it gives me an excellent place to check on my personal progress throughout the year.

      1. Same as last year…no new dolls! No, don’t feel sorry for me. I’ve been collecting these amazing dolls for 20 years…my crew is complete and I’m simply out of display space! The temptation is so tough though…and yep! You guessed it…I only made it into February before a grail reared his handsome head at an awesome buy in the marketplace, and I snagged him! Sorry…not sorry.:sweat I’ve been wanting an Elfdoll Mir for about 15 years now (handsome boys with Asian features and an old-school vibe are so hard to find in this hobby.) But no more after this I swear!

      2. A few of my dolls need faceups and/or extended artwork:
      a) Tatters ( Doll Chateau Gladys) needs checker-board artwork added to her mechanical body parts and rabbit ears to better illustrate her story connection to the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit.
      b) My recently arrived Mystique (Dream Valley Ghost Moth) needs a faceup and blushing of her various winged parts.
      c) My newly adopted Elfdoll Mir will need his old factory faceup wiped and replaced with something more up-to-date and handsome. (Done!)

      3. Sewing…I keep promising myself I’m going to slow down someday, and I’m really hoping this is the year that can happen. All my dolls pretty much have complete wardrobes…but as my fashion muses, they still keep tempting me to create things for them. I see a fabric that fascinates me and I’m off and running. There are already a few special outfits I have currently planned for the year.
      a) Complete Poetta’s story-based wardrobe. She needs at least one more complete set made. Made her a purple set of tiered skirt, puffy sleeved blouse, matching bloomers, and a decorated apron dress to go over everything. (Done!)
      b) Make some unique character-driven outfits for my newly arrived troll changeling, Imaginaria (Ringdoll SD Jade.)
Made a puffy sleeved blouse in red shades and a decorated pair of overalls in green and red fabrics.
Made 3 more sets of decorated overalls with hair ties to match.
Made her a long nightgown in plum velvet.

      c) Create the extravagant Japanese wrestler-inspired costume and stage kimono for Lotus Kai, Luts Delf JuHee. (I’ve already collected the special fabrics for this!)
      In-ring wrestling leotard made.
      d) Something new and beautiful for my new Dream Valley Ghost Moth, Mystique. I already have my eye on some amazing fabric. Fabric has been purchased (in two colorways.)
      e) My newly adopted Elfdoll Mir will be needing his wrestling ring gear and lavish entrance kimonos (I suspect this will keep me busy for a good part of the year.) Made him a single set of in-ring gear, adaptable to all his future kimonos.
      f) Once her new body arrives, Aubergine will be needing a wardrobe of lacey clown-like collars and cuffs to coordinate with her velvet gowns (in order to further enhance her carnival persona.)

      4. Buy whatever things they might need to further refine their characters:
      a) Currently having some doll-sized monster plushies being made by a talented artisan for my Ringdoll Jade, Imaginaria (to enhance her troll changeling character development.) 3 have arrived and are absolutely fabulous…so well made and utterly adorable! Of course that means she wants even more of them, so I have submitted yet another order.;)
      b) Finally get around to investing in more saddle stands…about half a dozen are needed for my displays. Ordered and arrived!
      c) Collect some special human-sized books of poetry to display alongside my shironuri storyteller, Poetta (Volks 3-sisters Megu.) Poetry is an integral part of her character…and this will encourage me to read more poetry.:thumbup I found what I was looking for on Ebay second-hand…and purchased a couple of them. I also recovered them once they arrived so they match her display decor. (Anything as beautiful as poetry shouldn’t be left in an ugly binding.)
      d) Order the adult coloring book “Fairytales and Folklore” to display with Imaginaria (Ringdoll Jade.) The artwork is very troll-like in a beautiful way, which matches her character perfectly. I purchased this on Amazon, and I can’t wait to start coloring in it. It’s so perfect for her, I know working in it will bring me even closer to her character!<3
      e) Purchased a new twin-tales wig in black for Euphemera (whenever I see one with a back part in a color she doesn’t have, I simply must get it for her.)
      f) Need to buy a new, more lithe Resinsoul Body for Aubergine to better suit her carnival character. (Now on order…)

      5. Keep up with my doll profiles here on DoA. With the size of my collection, I can’t afford to get behind…like ever! And this includes things like character refinement, name changes, appearance updates, etc.

      6. I recently discovered a new blank space that could work as a doll display…so now I just need to decide who can live there and get to work decorating it.:evilplot: I’m giving this area over to my collection of Pokemon trainers (along with my gaming system and collection of Pokemon games.) This is now completely done!

      7. My shironuri girl, Poetta (Volks 3-sisters Megu) needs to have her elaborate tibetan mohair wigs simplified somehow. As her storytelling wardrobe has intensified and expanded, the wigs just now seem…too much? So I need to figure out what to do about this.

      8. Hubby dragged home a very tall pine box he found discarded on the side of the road (1’x 5’) and of course I immediately saw potential for a vertical doll display. It will be perfect to house 3 members of my royal family, so it will become the “genie palace” once it’s completely refinished, has shelves installed, and is decorated appropriately. Completed and fully decorated…and it turned out great, so…Done!

      9. Again hubby found a lovely discarded wooden box somewhere (I swear that man is such a scrounger!) that he thought would make a wonderful display for some of my smaller dolls. So another major refurbishment is underway once I decide who’ll be displayed in it.

      10. Tightening and restringing…lots of it!:doh

    3. Oh no 2026 is almost there already????

      - Like every year, the general plan is not to buy more dolls (never works out)... I will allow myself one doll just to give myself some slack into my inevitable failure :| I've ended up missing something I sold this year, so I aim to buy the same mold back if I find them :sweat

      - I want to do lots of sewing. I've gotten on a good roll with my sewing project journal so continuing that won't be hard, and I want to build up to doing slightly more detailed projects without getting frustrated about them. I also just want to use up some fabrics and yarns I have.

      - I bought lots of wig hair this year but hardly made any wigs... perhaps '26 is the year for hair.

      - finish (and actually start :sweat) a cosplay project I've been planning for ages. Make costumes, wigs, accessories and a set for a photoshoot. Not gonna name it this time because I jinxed my Angelic Layer plans I had for 2025 it seems.

      - Set up my analogue camera again and take some doll photos on film! I struggle photographing my 1/3s, but I think this could be cool to do with them.

Otherwise I'm pretty relaxed about the coming year in this hobby - I'm not planning to do a lot of buying because importing doll stuff will get more expensive next year it seems, and I don't yearn for lots more dolls (I've been actively trying to reduce the number all year and am happy with the balance I have now). I'm looking forward to just enjoying the resin's company mainly!

    4. me @myself: please don't buy more dolls, there's just not space anymore (unless it's a Unoa Chibi)(or any really well price Unoa, actually).

I do hope to sew more. Several dolls need updates to their outfits which are a few years old at this point, and could be better. I also hope to find shoes for everyone, and to give all my dolls a strong style, instead of just dressing them with what I can find for sale/what I have laying around.
My mature 1/6 have been particularly neglected, so I'd like to give them some love again...

And it'd be nice if I could get myself to enjoy taking photos again. The more years pass, the less I'm statisfied with what I do. Maybe I should give myself a challenge for weekly/monthly photos...

    5. Time to put my goals down!

This coming year I only want one more doll to fill a character roll. I have my eyes on this one guy, but I won't be getting him until January, if he is still available. Otherwise I will have to find a different doll for that character role. I am going to try not to buy a lot of dolls this year. Except for this one planned doll.

I also have a long term goal of Mystic Kids Qing Chen Fox. I don't need him right away, and kind of want the full set. But with things the way they are I'll only get him is for some reason the sculpt is going to be discontinued.

I have plans to organize my SD Boys dresser. I recently added two large drawers under the smaller ones that I had for them. I have already put full set outfits and costumes for the dolls in the bottom drawer, but I need to organize the rest of it, and just use it for organizing the clothing and find something else to do with the small props in the top two drawers.

I want to get better with my photography. I want to do the photo shoot for Season 3 of my BJD story. I also later in the year want to do a photo shoot for the summer season where the dolls go off to shoot a movie based on Dracula.

I want to finish the rough draft of my Dracula BJD story and then fix it up and make it legible. I don't think I'll be shooting that one this year, but I would like to have it ready to go. I decided to make it a modern story, so I have quite a bit of work to do on that one. I am also working on the rough draft of season 4 of my story.

I want to sculpt fox ears for my dolls. I want to make the magnetic kind. I was going to try this in the later part of the past year, but the magnets never got sent and the order for them got cancelled, I have been too busy now to work on the project, but I really want to make cute animal ears to stick on my dolls.

I want to make more furniture and props for my dolls. I think having more finished BJD furniture and adding better props to my photographs will make them look better.

My main plan being stop buying dolls, make stuff for the current BJD's, and work on the dolls that I have. That's the most difficult goal, but hopefully I can stay strong this year.

I made easy goals this year.

      • x 5
    6. I dare not make any goals more ambitious than:
      - finish the 1/4 chair (only needs upholstering)
      - sew something
      -
do at least 1 photo shoot

      "You can dream" goals are:
      - make some magnetic brooches—in theory an easy project for which I have almost all the materials, and yet I haven't touched it all this year
      - go to a doll convention or meet-up

I've got rather a busy year ahead of me, and my health and finances are still a little shaky, so I'm trying to be conservative with my expectations :sweat

    7. Are you getting new dolls?
I shouldn't, but I probably will. :XD: I've got a MYOU Aron that I'm just waiting on being shipped right now and honestly, I might get another tiny/YoSD. No more SDs though, I simply don't have the space. I really have to stick to that this year, I got two this past year...

Want to sew up some clothing?
Like every year, I want to try and sew something, but I don't have the best set up right now to use my sewing machine so it's kind of... non-existent. Maybe if the house gets cleaned up (finally), I can have a space to do so.

      Try your hand at modding?
Modding scares the heck out of me, doing it personally at least. So nope, not for me :sweat

      Give new face-ups?
Possibly, if not by myself then by others. I'm going to ship two off to a friend soon, but that's all my plans for right now.

      Make that perfect prop?
At the moment, I'm thinking of turning my incoming doll into a sort of casual Pure Vanilla Cookie (we'll see how long that lasts), so I'd have to make his staff. I might also make something for my favorite YoSD, Oliver. Don't know what though!

      Take a lot of pictures?
Always take more pictures! I did a decent enough job this year, all things considered, but I'd like to try and go to different places for photos. It's just hard when I have no one to go with. I'd love to bring some of my bigger dolls out for nice photoshoots, but I can't do so solo. However, I'm planning on taking a photography class and get a different lens to learn and take better pictures! My mom wants to learn photography, so I'm joining her on that at the nearby community college.

      Organize better?
I've got a pretty good organization system now, but I want to make it even better. Though, with the limited space I have, I don't know how I'm going to manage especially since I want to get more YoSD clothes.

      Something else?
Getting more custom outfits! I'm hoping to get some type of outfit for my SD version of my D&D character. My MSD version has his Paragon outfit, so I'm thinking my SD one might need his Epic Destiny look. Or his general casual clothes. I also want to get more YoSD clothes but be picky about it. Finally, diorama work. I have three dioramas that are about 90% finished, I need to complete them.

    8. - No additional dolls. Also, zero shopping for accoutrements, in the current climate, instead, continue to be creative with the stash I have!
      - I am currently enjoying slowly working on my Cha Cha, once she is finished,I plan to take my time in 2026 to enjoy the working on Ghost Moth girl!
      - If/when life allows, do more sewing.
      - If/when life allows, do more (re)face-upping/ (re)blushing/modding-- maybe try a dye bath for my whiteskinned DollsTown Seola elf who has mellowed beyond buttery to actual yellow.
      - In left-over time: there are always some of the crew who could use a nice restringing! :)

    9. My 2026 goals can be summarized as so much sewing! Unfortunately the only fabric shop near me closed recently, so I guess step one is actually getting more comfortable with online fabric shopping. It'll also be a learning curve for 1/4 sized clothes, I've sewn a decent amount of 1/3 but this'll be my first venture into 1/4 size, so I need to adjust all my patterns down. I've had these designs drawn out for ages though, I'm excited to finally make them happen.

I've also picked up my first watercolor pencils and sealant to start learning how to do some body blushing, I'm not bold enough to try face-ups but learning on some of the blank pieces that came with my Dream Valley Ghost Moth and Twin Bird feels more approachable.

    10. I want to at least have an idea of who she is as a character, if possible. Complete with a backstory and such. I had a backstory but she’s evolved into her own doll, and I’m keeping her name but the origins…I feel like I need to get reacquainted. I also want to come up with a nice face up and get her sealed so I can finally take photos. Also to make new clothes for her.

No. Can’t afford it this upcoming year. My focus is on just the one. Although I have considered getting her an alternate body that is more mature than her default. I’m not sure if I can afford to make that purchase 2026 or to do it the year after.

Yes! I’m brainstorming ideas for what to make. I haven’t sewn anything since a recent diy project, which was last year in 2024. I’ve been really into playing “Fate of the Empress” lately and the costumes are GORGEOUS!!! I’ve thought of making a costume inspired by the ones in the game.

I don’t think I’m that confident yet, although I considered giving her facial piercings.

YES, the girl needs a new face and I’ve been a perfectionist about it. I need to get it done so I can enjoy her company more.

I’ve considered it, though I may keep an eye out for something in the thrift stores. I could make her some cute angel wings. I have some small skeleton keys I could play around with and make some jewelry for her.

YES! Just not in the summer. The place where I live now has high UV, so it may have to be seasonal.

Yes, but not BJD-wise. Not yet, anyway.

I’m considering giving her lashes once the face up is done. I also want to give her body blushing. It really comes down to aesthetics for this upcoming year and who she is as a doll.

    11. Well I am scared of these plans cause I plan alot but dont actually do anything in the end:doh
Alot of DIY in the plans cause it feels like the best way to engage in the hobby and "connect" with my dolls. I want to change my extremely passive approach cause why am I even collecting them when I dont do jack with them:vein

      1) I want to be more active in the hobby, do more with my dolls and maybe start posting them here or IG.

      2) Try my luck on faceups. None of my eggs have a face because I wanted to do it myself but never did:sweat

      3) Make wigs. It looks fun and I have very specific wants for all my dolls and those kinds of wigs are very much over the budget if I purchased them. I just need a kick in the rear to actually sit down and do it.

      4) Sewing. Most of my dolls I want to dress in a more fantasy/cottage core style and I believe I can follow a beginner friendly pattern - and again I need a kick in the rear to start.

      5) Where to store them. Either fix up my ikea billy to display them, or if I want to store them in drawers and only take out one or two at a time to display. Not sure yet.

Bonus 6) Figure out what to do with my SDs. All 3 are grail sculpts but I dont like the size.. Either keep to display or rehome when Im ready...

    12. I need to do some sewing and I want to find another Art Bimong Dandelion head, I don't care for the body.

      • x 3
    13. i haven't bought anything doll related since, like, march? i've gotten into a new hobby, repairing and refreshing vintage macs. plus writing a book. barely even touched the dolls i have, except acchan cos he goes everywhere with me.

i want to finish the two faceups i started at the beginning of the year, that's the most important.

but i do want some new dolls. if i don't get them in 2026, that's fine. i'm in no hurry. unless the ones i want are discontinued lol.
i really want a volks yosd ayu with the default faceup. that's the number one.

considering a minifee serenia to replace my impl eudora, but i'm still thinking on it cos minifees tend to not stick around, even though i love them a lot. it's either reshelling her into a minifee or getting an impl body. and whatever i decide for her will affect whether i get another chalco head and a 68cm impl body or a minifee lami. honestly minifees would save space. all that can wait another year.

a longshot, but i'd like a dear sd with a four sisters head. i can get her head and body separate, and that's fine. again, i can wait until next year.

      • x 4
    14. My top priority is to finish my last few resin stragglers by sending them out for faceups! The finish line is in sight! After that, I'm down to just general maintenance stuff for my core crew (restringing, sueding, etc).

      After that, well...
      • Properly get to work on Mina and Nysus, who are currently floating heads with nothing else going on. Eyes/wigs/faceups/bodies, oh my! I don't need them completed in 2026, but I'd like to be working toward completion this year.
      • Also finish off my vinyl girls -- several are almost done and just need faces, which I'm hoping to do myself once the weather warms up.
      • Go to a local doll meet! I've been trying to get to one this year, but it never worked out between work schedules and our move. I'm hoping to change that this year!
      • Take proper photos and make doll profiles -- I decided to take my dolls' names out of my signature, so I think committing to pictures and profiles would help people be able to reference my collection in a more concrete manner. Speaking of profiles...
      • My long shot desire would be to make a proper independent website for my doll blogging, assuming I get into the financial position to fund my own blogging domain and/or learn to code one myself.
      • I do have a few heads that I would like to snag, but those projects would be just for fun and I'm not particularly committed to them at this point (TV head, cat head).
      • I want a third boy at some point (we're a real girl gang over here!), but that's also a long shot that I'm not particularly committed to at the moment. We shall see!

      • x 7
    15. The same thing I say every year, try not to buy more dolls!

I'm waiting on a body for a head I have, and I might have to buy another for an incoming head but I gotta stop. There is no more room. Nobody can come in until somebody leaves.

I do need to sell the doll I've already earmarked for moving along but I hate the process of selling things.

I have been feeling crafty impulses lately, balancing free time with existential ennui and endless chores - who knows if I'll follow through on anything...

But I feel like maybe making some wigs, customizing some shoes, overpainting and rhinestone-ing a peeled pleather jacket.
I want to really start thinking outside the box on styling the clothing I already have, maybe do some alterations and dyeing. Make them more unique.

I also bought the supplies to make some fake dolly nails...

OH and 2026 marks my 20th year as a DoA staffer... I really hope to retire~ that would certainly free up my time.

    16. 2025 year end for me is finally treating the cause of my years' long zombie-like fatigue due to low iron levels in my body. So in the year 2026, I hope to be alive for one -- to set aside real time and energy into crafting and doing faceups like I should have done (more) this year but was always too tired to do.

No new dolls -- my collection is complete and it's just a matter of perfecting their look and style. Perhaps I'll give Cori a tattoo and blush both of my girls' bodies. I will try to get a new artist faceup or two. Decorate their shelf. I would like to start doing doll photography as well. Oh, and since I dropped out of the Doll North convention last spring due to my energy-crashing sickness, I'd love to be healthy enough to finally attend a doll convention for the first time!

      • x 6
    17. I'm going to focus on "completing" my Metis doll aka getting a wig and faceup for her, also going to start sculpting shoes because I keep putting that off. I'd also like to order a Pasha gen 4, but I don't know when in the year my preferred head sculpt will be available and if I'd be able to order her at that time, so we'll see.

      • x 3
    18. Eep where has this year gone? Well thanks to health issues, having to get surgery (full hysterectomy) in June and the fact that my doll/art room is currently being used for storage until we get our new garden shed (old rickety one was demolished when we had some garden work done) I’ve done next to nothing with my dolls this year so the list remains pretty much the same as last year! :doh

Are you getting new dolls? Unless a miracle occurs and Fairyland rerelease Realfee Pano with his wee hoofies I’m not planning on it. I do need to get bodies for two floating heads I have though. Will I stick to that plan? Probably not!

Want to sew up some clothing? Every year I say I need to learn to make clothing and wigs and every year I don’t however I my finger ended up slipping and I somehow ordered three Realpuki from the recent rerelease. These little guys practically scream “Make me cute stuff and silly hats!” so it looks like I’m finally going to make the effort!

Try your hand at modding? It scares the bejesus out of me so that’s a firm Nope!

Give new face-ups? That I really need to get back into once I have space again

Make that perfect prop? I’d like to but don’t have the skills, knowledge or pile of bones

Take a lot of pictures? Hopefully

Organise better? I’d like to say yes but my usual ND style is “I think it’s in that pile”

Something else? Reduce and refine my collection. It has been rather haphazard and eclectic up until now but something shifted and for once I have a clearer picture of what I’m wanting to achieve.

      • x 5
    19. My doll goals for the next year are as follows:
      • sell the three dolls in my collection that I need to move along, plus some off topic dolls that are taking up shelf space
      • get clothes for the remaining naked dolls in my collection
      • balance out my collection with some more male dolls - I'd really love to add a PashaPasha XY and Marmite Sue next year!

      • x 4
    20. I want to do more with my current dolls and not buy any new ones :aheartbea

      • x 6
    21. I hope to be able to get full outfits for both of my dolls, including shoes, whether that's through sewing and crafting or purchasing. I have a couple of key items (glasses and a pipe) that I think I'm going to end up having to make myself. One of them also needs new eyes, so I'm hoping to find a good pair.

I also want to find a good place for them in my current apartment, which is tricky, but hopefully doable.

I also want to try and start on the modding process for one of my dolls, and add some scars to the other! Maybe if that all goes well, then I can try and make an alternate wig for one of them.

I'm also going to maaaaybe purchase another doll, but probably not, it really depends on finances + whether I end up moving again soon.

      • x 4
    22. I have a document laying out what all I want to get done next year project-wise, but to streamline this post I'll just summarize the most important points. My doll plans are as follows:
      • buying: keep my doll purchases down to the one resin MSD on my list and maybe one OT doll as long as it is small.
      • crafting: finish the projects in my document which range from faceups, piercings, nail-painting, and general upkeep.
      • development: figure out the aesthetics of my SD girl Fable and an MSD girl of mine named Blair.
      • organizing: figure out an organizational system for clothes that works for me.
      • selling: getting at least one full doll sold. (I need to list the other stuff I have too)
In general my big thing going into next year is that I want to make sure I can keep my doll-buying under control and take stock of what I have a lot easier. I may have to make a spreadsheet.

      • x 5
    23. To get on marketplace. lol

    24. I think I accomplished all my goals last year. This year it's more wibbly...
      • Maybe purchase one more 60cm girl
        • Got a Switch Choyo head
        • Waiting on a Supia body (hopefully it works for the head)
      • Maybe get a faceup or 2 redone
        • Choyo is off
      • Get my PW boy's monster hands blushed properly
      • (done) Maybe sell 1 or 2 dolls
        • Sold Dollstown Triste, Gem of Doll Sophia
      • Maybe downsize the wardrobe a bit

    25. I always love this time of year, when I make plans and set goals I will completely change by February. :XD:

      But currently:

      1. Finish modding Cooper. He has a body and 8 heads, and I have successfully modded one head so far. I don't plan to mod all 8, but I do want to do one more at least, and his body to make him look thinner. Hoping to start that mod this week!

      2. Sew all the clothes I have cut out. I....might....have an entire laundry basket full of cut out doll clothes I haven't finished, and it never stops growing because I keep finding more fun patterns and fabrics.

      3. Complete Bambi's Barbie wardrobe! I've started making her replicas of 80s and 90s Barbie outfits, she has 20 so far and more planned.

      4. Take Cooper & Bren's wedding pics! The wedding is set for February 7.

      5. HOPEFULLY find more boy sewing patterns! I have a huge collection of girl patterns I've picked up from various sources online, but there is just so, so little for boys out there. What I do find is usually for the really big guys or Smart Doll boys, neither of which works for my 60-65cm boys. The search continues. (If anybody knows any good sources for SD13 range boy patterns that aren't just pajamas, tshirts or kimonos, please let me know! They don't have to be free, I've paid for a ton of patterns!)

    26. So glad this prompt is up now, I was really surprised to see I didn't post one for 2025 and really wanted to see how the year had went!!! (Maybe it was a prompt lost somewhere in my instagram stories, I guess I'll go look later..)

      Are you getting new dolls?
My resin perimeters are as follows: 2 yosd bodies for 2 floating heads. Tentatively: I don't need to get a body for my floating DL Lan right now, but... if the planets align or the exact one pops up 2ndhand, I may consider it. More highly tentatively: I want to shell 2 OCs as dolls- but the one company's been so effected by tariffs that if it gets worse in 2026, it will just stay on the wishlist for another year. I'm trying to focus on pre-existing projects, but I can't deny the siren song of incoming resin is always there, haha. I pray no new releases sneak into my heart.

Want to sew up some clothing?
Definitely! I have a lot of capsule wardrobes, major character costumes, essentials, WIP UFOs, and new patterns I've been wanting to test out.. I'm going to try to do monthly sewing goals again- I don't have to hit it every month, and they don't need to be huge involved projects- even just half the year doing little bits and bobs would be great.

Try your hand at modding? Give new face-ups? Make that perfect prop?
I have two dolls that need elf ear mods; 3 dolls that need their wings dyed; a body whose neck needs sanding and dyeing; another doll that needs full dye (with vitiligo)... It'd be a miracle if I tackle even one of these in 2026, but I'll put it here just in case! As for faceups; 2 have half-finished faceups that need sealing and eyelashes; and 5 that need a full faceup (+2 more if I get the YOSD bodies on my wishlist) Props are slightly lower on my priority, but if I start my 2 RPG character custom projects, then a staff and bow/quiver will be on the list.

Take a lot of pictures? Organize better?
Absolutely!!!! I've gotten so apathetic and if my office space is too messy but I'm too tired, I feel guilty posing anyone!! Maybe I should make some storable back-drops. I have recently re-organized my supplies and clothes, but I am considering a bookshelf closet setup for some of my dolls.. I'll see how that develops. Also, I love my dolls where they are right now- but it's so wretched dusty in my apartment... maybe I should start monthly dustings?

      Something else?
I want to continue to work on my sell-pile; it isn't super big and I've been having decent luck getting stuff sold, so I'd like to keep that going!

    27. I HOPE I can get volks Topaz and Emerald next year. I completely missed the order this year :( I get a tiny bit sad when I look at those sculpts because I have names for them and they will be my Switch Ruan and Taeheo's wives

    28. Pulling some of these forward from 2025:
      • Buy one or two more dolls to put a tentative cap on the collection - my latest one still needs his princess, and I have two ideas for her, but I won't know which one is which until they're all in my hands. Then there's a couple more I'm looking at, and one I'm paying off on layaway.
      • Get some bodies for the floating heads, especially since some of them have been here 10+years and still no body!
      • Not really doll related, but get some of the clutter out of my room so I can reorganize, which leads to...
      • Get a crafting station set up! Sewing, wigs, whatever, but I need the room to do it, which means some stuff has to go

      • x 2
    29. I always love these threads! My overall ongoing goals are finishing my dolls (face-ups, blushing, wigs eyes, wardrobes) and refining my collection

      Are you getting new dolls?
I'm waiting on a Do Dolls Dream Teacup Marionette Lullaby Lottie in the Radioactive Cupcakes teal resin, and flat feet for my Dollzone the Hanged Man(Arrived March 7!). I also bought dragon legs for my Fairyline Minifee on the DoA Marketplace near the end of the year. (Arrived January 2!) Maybe buy one at the NYC Doll Convention. My limited doll space is very close to capacity, so I have a very good reason to stop adding more! Though so many are very tempting.

      Want to sew some clothing?
I've made a decent number of nice outfits and single pieces this year, but some my dolls have minimal things that fit or suit their style, so I plan to keep sewing clothes for them. Diana needs a witch hat or two as well.

      Try your hand at modding?
The closest things to modding I want to do are the slightest adjustments to my Dikadoll's eyes, and overall sanding for aesthetics on my artist cast off-topic Cirque de Phantomes Nekomata, which I do want to accomplish this year. I also decided to separate my Miracle Doll LanQi fingers. (X-acto part finished January, 1st)

      Give new face-ups?
I have 16 blank dolls that need face-ups, plus 2 pets that need face-ups and blushing. One of the blank dolls is a Dream Valley Izzy dragon-girl who needs her horns, wings, feet, tail and probably hands blushed too.

      Make that perfect prop?
I'd like to make some polymer clay food for my MSDs, and books for them, and maybe a flute for Isora. I'd like more furniture for my MSDs, and YoSD size Ryoko (Dream Valley Izzy) needs a stool or bench, since she can't stand very easily, and her dragon wings and tail make a standard chair impractical. There's a whole dollhouse for my Real Pukis in progress, too.

      Take a lot of pictures?
I finally got some doll stands so taking photos of them standing will be easier. I'd like to post more photos of them here and on Instagram.

      Organize better?
The clothing needs more space! Maybe if I put the shoes and accessories in separate container that will help? I'm thinking the best solution might be to upgrade to an IKEA drawer unit.

      Something else?
I've got one doll listed for sale and another one I also want to move on to a new home. There maybe others I decide to let go of as well.

    30. I love seeing everyone's goals and recaps every year! It makes me so happy to hear about everyone's different collections and how we interact with and derive joy from our dolls.

In the next year, the plan is to continue finishing dolls and letting go of the ones I am not excited to finish. I really want to practice sewing and pattern making, wig making, and face-ups. Crafts in general! I have a couple of visions I'm excited to see come to life. I'd also like to attend some meetups!

I so admire the resolve of everyone who's committed to buying no new dolls. That should probably be me also :sweat and maybe one day I'll get there, but so far my goal each year has been to buy less dolls than the previous year. Weaning myself off resin shopping  I did great this year and didn't buy any for over half the year! Of course, by this point I have bought three, which I really think is the absolute maximum I can do in a single year and will be the number I try to stick to going forward--until I really do run out of space and have to add zero.

For acquisitions, I'm going to focus on clothes as much as I can. I really enjoy redressing my fashion dolls, and would love to do that with my BJDs, but just don't have enough clothes. Currently the top contenders for limited spots (I like thinking of it like a reality show when I rank them sometimes) are Harucasting and Do Dolls Dream MSD. I've had a Nina's Dolls Luna or Iris on my list forever, and Yummy Sweets Dolls' new sculpts are also very tempting. And I have three floating heads that need bodies, not sure how they are going to fit in to this plan--eek. :XD:

    31. Eh heh heh… So… Ya know how I said “no” earlier…? The layaway option sounds lovely… ^^; I talked to my husband about it. He’s gonna get back to me. So… *Maybe* one. Maybe. If not, then no new dolls.

    32. I'm just going to say it, I filled a whole page of just me rambling about what I need for dolls. It looks insane. Please enjoy though.
      Buying stuff:
      • Get bodies for floating heads
        • Get 75 bodies for my impldoll Ansel, Abidoll Hermann, and Flame River Adonis
        • Get 68-70 bodies for my Devotion Doll Lunevis (female one,) Switch Doha, Switch Yozo, Illusion Garden Evening Bane (some later heads I plan on getting next year will simply share bodies for now)
        • Potentially get yet another AEdoll Ruan Mian body for either my Rosetta Doll Tansy or Kiss Dodo Somnoom. Just depends on the 62cm Evantasy body
        • Get a 2d doll 45cm boy body v2 for my Devotion Doll mini Bite
      • Get faceups for heads
        • I basically need to do this for a lot of heads (sorted by size:)
          • Devotion Doll Bite SP, Luna Blanc Kieran, abidoll Hermann, and Flame River Adonis
          • Loongsoul Monster Nian, eventual Illusion Garden Unicorn Yuli and Switch Muyhul
          • Foveo Midnight Gella B, Sue doll flora, Kiss Dodo Somnoom
          • Xiaozui Milk Candy head and both Xagadoll conjoined twin heads
      • Get wigs for heads
        • I want to get a few custom wigs for a couple SD dolls and my conjoined twins need a couple.
        • I need made to order wigs for a fair bit of people, listed by size:
          • Abidoll Hermann, impldoll Ansel, Flame River Adonis, Loongsoul Monster Nian, Illusion Garden Evening Bane & eventual Illusion Garden Unicorn Yuli, eventual Switch Muyhul, and Suedoll Flora
      • Get eyes for heads
        • I need some custom eyes for my Loongsoul Monster Nian, Abidoll Hermann, and Switch Muyhul
        • I also need made to order eyes for a fair bit of heads, Devotion Doll Bite SP & Mini Bite (very hard to find good fitting eyes for both btw,) Xiaozui Milk Candy head, eventual Illusion Garden Unicorn Yuli, Flame River Adonis, and Suedoll Flora
      • Get clothes for dolls
        • Get 75 clothes for my impldoll Ansel, abidoll Hermann, Devotion Doll Bite SP, and Flame River Adonis
        • Get 68-70 clothes for Switch Doha & Kaien, eventual LLT head & Illusion Garden Unicorn Yuli
        • Get SD clothes for Supia Esther, Kiss Dodo Somnoom, Suedoll Flora
        • Get MSD clothes for my Xiaozui Milk Candy & formydoll Jiyuan
      • Get shoes for dolls
        • Basically everyone needs socks
        • Get 75 shoes for my abidoll Hermann, impldoll Ansel, Devotion Doll Bite SP, and Flame River Adonis
        • Get 68-70 shoes for Loongsoul Monster Nian, Illusion Garden Evening Bane & Unicorn Yuli, Switch Doha & Muyhul
        • Get SD shoes for Souldoll Liv Elegance ver, Impldoll Mila & Moira, Supia Esther, and Suedoll Flora
        • Get MSD shoes for Xiaozui Milk Candy & formydoll Jiyuan
      • Floating head situation
        • So basically, I'm reaching my max capacity for human dolls. I might be able to squeeze in more if I buy a bunch of stands for everyone for more space real estate, but still. The head train needs to stop. So I selected 4 heads for this year, and maybe one to complete the Lupin the 3rd quartet I've got going.
      • I also have some odds and ends of body parts to buy that aren't that interesting.
      Selling Situation:
I may sell an impldoll model body my Switch twins have in favor of their SD plump body, haven't fully decided or wrapped my brain around that. (Not happening) My surplus of unused clothing and eyes need to be purged more, and my wigs I don't need I'll ship off to 69resin as a donation.
      Crafting:
      • I'm really ready to make my impldoll Imara's permanent top, a big ol striped sweater. I knit, and I got good tips from the crafting forum, so I feel more confident getting that done. It needs to be done.
      • I also need to sew kimonos for my impldoll Mila & Moira, and once those are done, maybe make a male kimono for my impldoll Ansel.
      • I need a respirator and a MSC equivalent to tackle DIY tattoos in the summer for almost all my impldoll crew, and for a whole SD body...
So yeah! Super busy as always, and I just have this running list in my brain so it's nice for me to be able to cross off what has been done.

    33. For next year, my main doll goals are a little more specific, as I have learned and figured out some things this year (now my first full year in this hobby!):

      - No more WIPs! I want every full doll to be wigged, with a proper stand, to have at least one outfit, with shoes that actually fit, as my curse seems to be picking out a nice pair of shoes that are advertised in the size range of the doll in question only to have them not actually fit at all and be unusable for any of my dolls. I've been grateful that eyes have not been an issue for any.

      - Fully attempt (and keep) a faceup. I've been practicing this year when I have the time and energy, and it's still not very good, I wipe all of my attempts, but that's all part of the process of learning! I really like the feeling of using certain materials like pastels. I would love to try to practice enough to be steady enough to paint on this smaller scale and be able to say I have done at least a single head on my own.

      - Craft! I've been pretty tired and not really dipping so much into the creative aspect myself into dolls beyond drawing them, though I've tried a few things like making wigs. I want to at least make something for a doll, whether it be a prop or picking up sewing again to make them some costume piece. I also have this fun table and chair set that I bought from Tata's Paradise that I've wanted to assemble, but have not yet.

      - Commission a faceup. I have floating heads, and I know that I'm definitely not at the skill level to tackle them, so I would love to commission someone to do their magic on at least one or two of them for me. Mailing out a head seems a little daunting, but I think it would be well worth it.

      - Get bodies! For the floating heads, they have nothing to be put on, and I hope to rectify that for at least some. One of them was actually meant to come with the body, but the body got lost in the post! In general though, think I should think a lot more about which heads I would really like to keep and fully "dollify" and give the others away to fellow hobbyists to have fun with.

      - Try taking photos - I'm not good at this, though ironically I grew up with a parent that was very much interested in and good at photography. I love seeing the wonderful shots people take of their dolls, and though I don't think I'll go the whole mile and do something like invest in a DSLR and learn photography proper, I'd like to take little pictures of my dolls going on adventures. If I get brave enough, I'd like to take at least one photo of one outside outside of the context of a doll meet.

      - A doll friend to scale - my collection is wildly piecemeal and none of the dolls that I own would look natural with each other due to either clashing aesthetics or very drastically different sizes and proportions. I'd like for at least one doll to have a companion that they could interact with that would match their general scaling / make sense in proportion to them. At the moment in time, this feels like it would most likely be my Xagadoll or Minifee that I might have another doll in mind for within their scale, but I'm uncertain yet depending on what I narrow down my doll "hitlist" for next year.

      Here's to 2026 doll goals!

    34. While theoretically I got back in the hobby this year, I'll only have my doll in 2026, so now I'm only preparing slowly for her to appear. What I have in mind for this time is avoiding a few mistakes that I made on my previous "run".

      1. Take it slow with the photos. Instead of going out with the doll without specific plan, I'll try to search for an inspiration and plan for the photo, plan the poses, styling etc, and only then go do it. Also, if I end up buying a camera - definitely used one, especially cheaper.
      2. Accept the fact that I'll already lose my "flame" when the doll actually arrives. It'll be normal, I'll spend a lot of energy on looking for clothes, wig etc. So basically, taking it slow again.
      3. Only hand-make things that seem fun in themselves. I need to assume that whatever I'll try to do will be of low quality and stay that way. Not because I don't believe in myself that much, but I want to save myself from frustration. If I want something pretty, especially if I want it NOW, I'll buy or order it. If I want to create something, I will. Though I'll probably be defending myself from getting back to sewing, haha.
      4. I might try to get myself a practice head, basic supplies for face ups and, of course, the needed protection. I live in an apartment, so I don't have much space for safely using a sealant. So I'll need a good, slow research to first be safe, then try creating something.
      5. I want to try to engage with the community more! Especially since I'm from Poland, so it seems difficult for me to find other BJD hobbyists :D

Basically, I want it to become and stay a way of getting creative in various ways, but try to not burn myself out!

    35. I’m in the same boat! Although I do have a camera now. But with getting back into he hobby after a long hiatus and catching up on the dolly news. I have a sewing machine now, so I can make something if need be. I also want to engage more with the community. I feel seen! :D

    36. My main goal for 2026 is to design more knitting patterns for my dolls! I want a whole wardrobe of knits :evilplot: But it takes sooo long to trial and error my way to wearable pieces so I won’t be too ambitious.

I’ve got two girls on preorder so when they come they will need faceups. I’m already thinking of their backstories for when I write their doll profile :thumbup

And last I’ll be keeping my eye out for MSD boy dolls. I want one boy, but I’m so terribly picky. Maybe this year I will bring one home? I can’t allow myself to buy more MSD girls though haha

    37. I managed one of my big doll goals this year- Volks Diamond. But I do need more clothes! And shoes. I'm hoping to make minimal new doll purchases but I am not to be trusted!

      Bodies:
-I need a guard Love 1/4 chubby body with the bunny legs (no ankles)
      - An older yellowed Volks SD 10 or 13 body
      - Maybe get a couple floating heads a body. I FORGOT, like legit thought I sold it but apparently didn't and found it last weekend, a Granado Kaili head!! So maybe that poor girl deserves a body.

      Dolls:
      - Looking for anime style resin dolls that speak to me. I have my eye on a super cute ADVillage girl on Legendoll but haven't had the funds
-Finish layaways on AE Ding Dang and Luts SD Yuri head
      - Try not to splurge!
      - Hoping buy a doll from a seller that has the doll in storage right now so I'm just waiting and hoping I can get the doll

      Wigs:
      - MYABE spring for a lace-front wig for ANS Narcissa. Those damn horns are in the wrong place

      Projects:
      - Get my little centaur strung
      - Paint hair on Lillycat Newt because no wig on earth will stay on her weird shape head.
      - MAKE a hard wig cap!!! EEK!

      SHOES. Just SHOES.

And lastly, get my doll clothes organized.

    38. Keeping my goals fairly similar to last year. being fairly easy-going about the hobby since it's a marathon and not a sprint, something I have to remind myself of when I get super into it ha.

      • Buy new dolls/ heads / bodies
        • Got into trouble last year and way exceeded my quota (albeit my justification is that they were tinies, and summed up to one 1/3 doll so were technically still within budget!) My goal is to be a bit more on top of it this year upcoming year
          • Forever still looking for a Delf El head Found right at the end of 2025! Albeit a full doll so will have to make some decisions about the body later.
          • Dollzone 1/5 snake body Deprioritized because I also found the body for El that I want at a great price
          • Bonelace Legory
          • Depending on if and when other things sell, I may start working on replacing some of the bodies on my list and 'upgrading' existing dolls, but this is low priority
      • Sell some dolls
        • Have 1-2 heads to sell, and 2 bodies that I'll be replacing with others. I'm not super hopeful on them selling given the economy, but at the very least want to make sure they're listed Sold the top priority head that I wanted to sell which funded El's purchase at the end of 2025! Still hoping to list the bodies for eventual replacement
      • Work on existing dolls
        • Finish a WIP faceup, wipe and redo one faceup, and then do 2 additional faceups on incoming dolls / heads
        • Continue working on acquiring outfits / wigs / eyes for the crew. The only specific things I have on the list are a couple of wigs and pairs of eyes for my tiny dolls who don't have any in their size right now
        • I'd love nicer wigs too for existing dolls, but this is low priority and as budget allows
      • Community
        • Go to NYC doll con again. It was an INCREDIBLE experience last year and I'm looking forward to it
        • Attend local meetups whenever time allows to stay connected with the awesome group we have here

      • Start saving for a Volks F-01 girl and purchase her when the opportunity arrives whether FCS or second hand. This is the only doll purchase I want to make in 2026, no others.
      • Buy one MSD body for a floating head I have, but do extensive research to find something perfect first.
      • Sell a bunch of dolls that I'm not bonding with or enjoying anymore.
      • Start buying some shoes, this whole crew is barefoot for the most part lol
      • LOTS of faceups this year when the weather permits it(spring thru fall)
      • Start sewing more(starting now), with the goal of moving towards selling things. This one is the probably the most important on my list and quite a big undertaking for me. I've never done anything like this before so it'll be new and different

      • x 4
    39. I wanted to make 2026 a no-resin year but I'll probably make one more stretch for my last doll. 2025 had a few hiccups on the way which cost me quite a lot, so I should get more things done even accounting for a doll.

      • x 4
    40. Probably won't be getting any new dolls, though maaaybe I'll do a layaway on a boy later in the year.. I'm waiting for three girls to arrive and I don't really have any clothing or shoes ready for them lol. So my plans for 2026 is to make lace wigs, properly sit down and knit a lot and maybe learn to sew. Also want to buy them the extra stuff I can't make myself, like shoes and eyes. Will continue doing tons of faceups as well.

    41. for 2026, my big overall goal is to finish every WIP doll i currently have. i am not a big doll impulse buyer nor do i have any new ones particularly in mind, and all my floating heads but one are no longer disembodied, so i don't really have buying OR not-buying as a goal-- i just want to get everyone i already have in a finished, displayable state by the end of 2026.

the dolls i need to work on are:

-Davis (Dikadoll Floyer × Resinsoul hybrid): needs a little more finish sanding on his nearly-done neck mod and to be reassembled; also needs a better set of clothes

-Beatrix (Dollmore Aileen x Angel of Dream hybrid): needs her replacement hands painted and put on; wig also needs finished

-Cora (Bobobie Charisma × Iplehouse SID hybrid): needs her face mods finished, head colormatched to body, a faceup, body reassembled, eyes, a wig, and clothes...basically everything, she's currently a bag of parts. the only thing i've actually finished so far on her is modding her massive Iple neck to fit with the Bobobie head

-Jack (Dollshe Arsene × Impldoll hybrid): probably going to tinker with his neck a tiny bit, the hybrid does fit as-is but i feel like a small adjustment would make better head mobility; then he needs restrung plus he needs a faceup, eyes, a wig and clothes

-Stella (Impldoll Crystal × Supia hybrid): needs her faceup and wig finished + clothes; currently she has an 85% completed wig, a pair of eyes, and a faceup that's probably about 25% done, and also she is nude.

-Ivar (Granado Nightmare Boyd x Mirodoll hybrid) needs his whole wig situation redone; after that he's technically done but i would really like to make him some additional clothing too. his current outfit is super bare-bones and could be more character-accurate with a couple pieces added to it

-Star (Dollmore Skylar × Angel of Dream hybrid): needs a wig and clothes; i finished her neck mod, reassembled her, and finished her faceup and she has eyes already, so one of the less intense WIP dolls

-Randalin (Simply Divine Harlequin × Impldoll hybrid) is the MOST intense WIP doll and frankly i will be shocked if i finish everyone else on this list AND complete her in the next year. she's a total project doll that involves heavily modding a really beat up old body; then both for colormatching and character accuracy she's going to need a head to toe airbrush blushing, plus the head needs some slight facial mods and an elf ear mod, and after all of that happens and she gets restrung, i have to make her eyes, a wig, and an outfit and paint her faceup. i will be for real thrilled if i even manage to finish her mods this year...

i have lots of crafting and sewing stuff i would also love to do for all my other dolls that are actually finished, but that's less a goal and more just how i play with/enjoy my dolls in general, so...the real goal is to close out 2026 with no WIP dolls (or at least just the one mega-project girl!)

bonus goal is to refresh a couple of doll profiles on here that have outdated pictures, make profiles for the handful of finished dolls that don't have them, and also make profiles for the WIP dolls as i (hopefully) finish them :sweat

    42. I feel like the last part of 2025 has been (and soon 2026 will continue to be) a time for great change for me in terms of my daily pace, and I think that is going to have an effect on all of my hobbies to some extent. I'm not leaving the BJD hobby at all, but I may need to sit and consider if some of the dolls in my current resin family need to go.

Anyway, I'll keep the list somewhat vague for now but may update later with some specifics.
      • Want to sew up some clothing? Yep. Strange's Sorcerer Supreme costume needs an update now that I understand how to do the embroidery with my sewing machine. Storm also needs some of her clothes adjusted cause I keep choosing non-standard bodies for my loved ones xD
      • Make that perfect prop? On it! I have a few items in mind that I have collected reference for. And I still have the room-box to work in, which I haven't given up on despite being unable to work on it at all during 2025 (I found an amazing hand-towel that is the perfect carpet for it and it reignited my interest again).
      • Take a lot of pictures? Every year I make the promise to try taking a picture a week even if I end up not delivering because my life is hectic sometimes, but I want to keep trying and I think that's the important part.
      • Organize better? Definitely. All my dolly stuff has been chaotically thrown in a cardboard box for a while now and I now it is one of the reasons I struggle when trying to play with my resins, so I need to change that.
      • Something else? Selling. Lots of stuff. Dolls, props, accessories... I'll need to make a list of pros and cons for some of the items, and the marketplace is so slow now, but I know it will be for the best in the long term.

    43. my first cast doll Doll Chateau beacher is currently in transit with UPS and my second doll butterberrydolls thistle just had her preorder close but seeing as both will be available for at least *part* of 2026 i figured it would be good to participate and see where i’m at at the end of the year.

i wrote this in my notes app so sorry if it’s a bit janky :sweat
      • new dolls: maybe no current plans though. i should try to cool off and focus on the two i’ve got next year :sweat
      • definitely want to keep sewing and learning new techniques and to neaten up my work
        • particularly i’m wanting to participate in some monthly sewing challenges
      • i have no plans for modding at the moment apart from dyeing beacher
      • faceup for beacher, the other will have an artist faceup :P
      • definitely plans for props and maybe buying some
      • i would like to start taking pictures and learning about editing and colouring them
      • i need to start working on an organisational system
        • this means space in my room must be made (a couple of bulky toys i don’t have need for any more can be sold, i can get rid of the detritus in my closet, etc)
        • i want to move all my notes to a spreadsheet and docs system
        • as i continue to self draft patterns for wonky doll bodies i will need to have folders to organise patterns and clothes
      • decide on where i will focus on posting doll content: tumblr instagram personal website/blog and/or DoA. can i manage more than one?
      • make wigs!
      • make eyes and eye moulds!
      • knit and crochet for them -> must figure out what thread i’d want to use.
      • work on a story involving both dolls (and an off topic doll) and start posting prose with some pictures
i’ve been a toy collector and customiser for some time and it has been my primary hobby and mental fixation as an autistic person and a way to regulate so i spend all of the time that i’m not actively in university tinkering with my toys, hence the number of plans :) it’s been awesome reading everyone’s plans and getting ideas!

    44. Lots of luck on that one! I think I have 4 new dolls coming! Bad, bad me!

    45. I have an umbrella goal for 2026 -- move my 'project mindset' away from completing new dolls toward making projects out of my own dolls.

I've been buying and completing dolls non-stop since I came back to BJDs from a long hiatus, and I've reached a point where I'm very satisfied with my doll crew and don't want to buy anymore new ones. I also have photoshoot and story ideas I want to do with the crew, and many will require some crafting work - sewing, prop making, backdrops/diorama creation.

I think both situations jive well with each other. So I want to enforce doll No-buy while weaning myself off the 'complete new doll' project cycle that I've been on for 3 years straight. At the same time, I want to transfer that projects mindset into making my story ideas a reality.

      OK, some concrete goals...

      (1) Have a rest from buying new dolls.
      (a) Receive my last two pet BJDs - one is still on preorder, one is at a proxy and I'll ship it home early in 2026. (b) Achieve a buying rate of <1 doll/year this year -- which means no new dolls at all. Option parts for the crew are fine. No-/low-buy has been on my goal list for 3 years straight but I haven't been too successful at that. Wish me luck! (March) My long-term desires have been itching, but I've held them all at bay - so far.

      (2) Traditional kimono/JP footwear for the whole crew.
      (a) Sew tabi socks - find a pattern, find the fabric, sew it. Gotta do this for 10 dolls. (NYD) FINISHED - I went on a tabi sock sewing speedrun and made 9 pairs for everyone - in time for the new year! (the 10th doll is a 1/4 who doesn't need them) (b) Make geta. I have an idea how to do it, but I should go research some tutorials to make sure it's not harebrained.

      (3) "Transfiguration" photo series.
I'll need to (a) make the backdrop - go to the art store and get the paint and paper - this is the bottleneck step. (March) Bought spray paint, just have to grab some poster paper.
      (b) figure out a way to wire doll clothes so they have the appearance of flowing, (March) bought the setup, waiting to receive
      (c) pose the dolls on stands and take the photos.

      (4) Sew a doll costume in time for my local group's Halloween meet. A 2025 goal I never got around to doing.
I already know what I want to make, so (a) look up cosplay references (b) look up suitable doll-sized patterns for the garments (c) get the fabrics and sew them.

I think that's enough. If I complete photography goal (3) and sewing goal (4) I can replace them with one of the many ideas cooking in the back of my mind. Or who knows, I might not get to said goals but do the other ideas - that's still getting things done, right? :sweat

    47. Looked through my 2025 goals, and I'm pleasantly surprised! I feel like I stuck to them really well.
      • Continue to downsize
      • Pare down clothing collection
Downsizing dolls and clothing don't get a check because I didn't really downsize, but they don't get an X either, because I also really feel like they didn't increase in size this year...for clothes, that's pretty much entirely due to the tariff situation, but for dolls I'm quite pleased to say I've sold about as many, or maybe even more, than I've bought! I'm much happier with the state of the crew now, it really feels like each doll is loved for its own sake and has a purpose.
      • Take more photos ✅
I checked, and I took at least one edited and postable picture of Verdi alone, not to mention the other dolls, for each month of 2025. Most months had a full shoot, some months had multiple. Knocked it out of the park.
      • Attend more meets and doll events ✅
First year attending Resin Rose, it rocked, and I didn't miss a single meetup with my local group!
      • Get photos printed ✅
Sure did! Even got a couple framed!

For 2026, I'm thinking of the following...
      1. Finish updating the doll area of my website by end of 2025, and try to update it at least once a month in 2026
      2. Get my doll clothing properly organized by doll and stored
      3. Learn how to use Mercari and really clean out the sales pile
      4. Schedule and celebrate doll birthdays (or gotcha days if dolls share a birthday)
      5. Save up enough to have a comfortable spending budget for Japan in late March

    48. @Oculae not to get too off topic, but I just checked out your website that you mentioned, and I really enjoy it! I'll definitely keep an eye (pun intended) out for your updates.

    49. Okey dokey, I did an EOY wrap-up for 2025, seems about time to set some goals for 2026!

Limited doll purchases. I've been unsuccessful with complete no-buys so far, so my goal is at most one or two new dolls. I've been kinda considering seeing if Volks offers an SD10/SD13 FCS order with a sculpt I like (and to think I'd started out with no interest in them...), and I'm always watching for just the right robot/cyborg doll. But otherwise, I'm running out of box storage space if nothing else. If I acquire dolls beyond another one or two, I'm gonna have to start a "one in, one out" system.

Reflect on the dolls I enjoy and where I want my collection to go. I've split myself between 1/4 and 1/3 lately, and I'm not yet sure if I've got a different size preference overall or if I've just shifted my attention temporarily. I want to take some time and consider what doll characteristics I like the most so I can focus on those and maybe refine things in the future.

Sew a new piece of clothing monthly. I've been doing pretty well on this so far, and would like to continue! Putting together frilly, froofy dresses is the joy du jour, but we'll see how things go. Maybe I'll even make some more pants! Wouldn't that be a dream.

Photoshoot monthly. I tried a weekly one before and burned out fast, but I think doing pics once a month would be a good way to keep me playing with the dolls, improving my photography, and keeping in touch with the seasons for outside photoshoots.

ETA: Go to a doll con! This is a bit more pie-in-the-sky, since I'll be starting a new job soon and have no idea what my schedule will be. I've wanted to go to a con for a while, but never seemed to have the time. Maybe Resin Rose, or I think Dolpa is in LA this year?

    50. 2026, the year of continuing my current incomplete goals

1)No new dolls. I've been hit with so much doll related whiplash in the last year I think I need to focus on saving again for a while.

As part of this I definitely need to continue working on completing the dolls I do have. A) pls finish Celeste's wig, she looks lovely bald but she needs hair or a nicer bald cap. B) commit to reshelling Maddie's look. For my most reached for doll, I have too many conflicting feelings about how she looks in her current aesthetic.

      2) Improving photography! First and most importantly by acquiring better equiptment than my phone Q.Q

      3) Aim to completely sew one piece of clothing a month q.q I keep starting projects and setting them aside- I seek freedom from this wip web I've become entangled in.

      4) Actively make time for my sculpting projects. I really want to move onto blocking out major shapes onto the core I made this year for the replacement body I wanted to try sculpting for Day. I also want to attempt sculpting at least one oc head and finally cast the outer sole molds for their shoes.

    51. Let's see... Goals for 2026:

1: 15 years into the hobby and I have bought one or more new dolls every year :XD: I want to say next year could be the year of zero new dolls, but... (February edit) Normally I don't edit the goals and just update later but I bought a new doll Jan 1. :sweat

2: continue honing and refining dolls I have here who are already established by working on their individual wardrobe cohesion, fashion diversity among them and so on. Not urgent, this is my plan to slowly enjoy the hobby for the rest of eternity. Focus efforts this year on some dolls I love who don't have as many outfits.

3: I actually have a fun selection of "new" dolls that I've grown fond of but haven't really worked on styling yet. I hope I'll have some of them more caught up by the end of next year. Out of those we have the end-of-year new bluefairy Emilie, Bebe, Paloma, and Raynor, but Raynor needs to be beheaded and start sharing a smaller more manageable body. Hopefully that will not discourage me from working on him.

4: scout out and have a couple decent outdoor photos shoots. Not feeling confident about that in this city yet but we'll see. I miss the ocean, it just figures lol.

5: get rid of some junk cluttering up my life. Any progress I make on that is always good progress because I find the process like pulling teeth.

6: I guess my final goal is ironically not to get too sucked into the hobby again. Moderation on the mental load. I tend to absorb myself in my dolls when life is scary and I am able but there are other creative things I would like to accomplish as well, so I'll be disappointed in myself if I just binge on working on my dolls all year. :pout:

7: no just kidding, final goal is don't be neurotic. I'm making progress overall and I am so happy about that.

8: buy some wigs if they bring me joy and I can afford them at the time. Even just one really good wig for the year. I'm only here for the wigs afterall.

    52. I don't think I've ever done more then a half-baked job of finishing even a single goal, yet here I am again:

      1) the craft space did get set up last year, I just need to replace my respirator and I might actually get around to starting on all the faceups and blushing that've been a permanent feature of my to-do list for years.

      2) I'd like to say no new dolls now that my collection's reached a nice even number, but Shushu continues to haunt me, and I have at least one floating head I want to get on a body, so I might make room for two more. 42 is, after all, the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

      3) Basic maintainance! Make a list of all the little things that need to be done - sanding, cleaning, restringing, magnets, etc etc etc. It's never ending around here.

      4) Go through and make sure everybody has the proper eyes, accessories, etc. Clothes and wigs shift, but I hate installing eyes so once they get a pair, that's theirs for good.

      5) Hopefully take more pictures? I should probably invest in decent stands, but I have no display space so it feels sort of pointless.

Don't ask where I'm planning on finding the time or energy for any of this when Everything Is Awful All The Time, but we soldier on regardless.

    53. It's going to be a focus on my current dolls kind of year again! A few still need wigs, I'd like to get some nicer eyes so a few and of course face-ups need to happen on just a couple. I tried my hand at making shews last year and it went...... well it went. I'll try my hand at that again but I suspect I'll be buying shoes if money allows.

I'm hoping to get more sewing done this year, I've got almost everyone clothed!

I have three heads that need modding to better fit their respective bodies, maybe this will be the year I finally do something bout that. I also have a few that badly need restringing so I'm hoping bring one to the restringing panel that usually happens at Resin Rose this year.

I'm not adverse to getting a new doll, but I don't imagine it'll be in the budget unless I really fall in love and can get it with layaway.

      • x 4
    54. I'd like to limit the size of my collection - my goal is 6 and under at the moment (full dolls only, heads don't count!) and I'm determined to keep it that way. If I want to welcome a new doll home, I have to pick one in my collection to sell. So far it seems doable, but who knows what next year will bring :sweat

Second goal is to get better at faceups! I just bought a really interesting head and I want to do him justice.

      • x 4
    55. 2026' goals will be less ambitious than those from last years. I have a full-time salary job again (I was self-employed the last 6 years), but I kept my own business on top of the salary job, so I have NO MORE free time. Or at least, not a lot. So well, I doubt I could make full body tattoo like I did previously. I already didn't managed to paint one this year, so next years are going to be... complicated.

      My main goals are:
      • no compulsive buyings to compensate the "no free time" frustration. I know I will buy some resin, maybe heads, maybe bodies, maybe full dolls. But I don't want to feel overwhelmed.
      • putting for sale what I no longer want
      • sewing some outfits and completed the 2-3-4 that are already in progress
      • crafting around 6 wigs, or more if possible (I have 12 to craft currently)
And that is all. If I find the time for a tattoo, great, but no pressure.

    57. My doll goals for 2026 are 1) find a way to display my dolls safely, away from the sun and cats 2) not overspend at DollCon Dallas 3) restringing and a new faceup for my 13 year old Luts KDF Darae 4) try not to impulse buy new dolls 5) enjoy the dolls I have :daisy

I definitely did not keep with my 2025 doll goals, but maybe I'll have better luck in the new year!

      • x 2
    58. My 2026 dolls goals are as planned:
      1. No new dolls - prioritize the dolls I already own and try not to impulse buy. I spent an absurd amount of money on uncle dolls over the past 1-2 years during somewhat manic episodes only to regret my purchase as soon as the doll arrived (tbh it was more like 50% of the time, I did receive some dolls this year that will remain in my collection forever).
      2. Continue to downsize/sell and curate my collection to the point where I’m happy. I have a few more dolls to sell and then I’ll feel good with where I’m at. My room was getting reallll cluttered (I had 12 uncle dolls in my room at one time and it was so overstimulating and suffocating like I had no space for myself it was just dolls everywhere).
      3. Finish a few doll specific projects - give my Moonlit Wonder Akheilos a Sephiroth inspired faceup, buy elastic and restring my 5th Motif Venitu and Goohwa (they’re somehow both floppy and kicky waaaa), wipe my LLT Roderich and give him a new faceup, make wigs for my boys, sew clothes for my boys.
      4. Finish shelling Sephiroth - buy/make the clothes and armor. Wig and eyes are done.
      5. Dedicate a better space for my boys and find some props for them. Eventually I’d love to make a room box for them but I need to find the space for it.
      6. I’d love to make a fairy house for my DreamHigh Studio tinies with stick furniture and mushrooms and cute little cottage things. Dream project tbh.
      7. CREATE DOLL PROFILES. oh my god I’ve been on this site for over a decade and have never created a single doll profile. I have all my ocs written down in a note on my phone and haven’t taken the time to write it out on here.
      8. Bring my dolls out more!!! I want to take them with me to conventions, places I travel to, etc. I also want to work on taking better photos of my dolls and doing themed photoshoots.
      9. And overall I just want to be more active on here. I’ve been on this site for 15 years, which is crazy to think, and I feel like I’ve barely contributed.
I think that’s it for now!!! Considering the fact I had no plans for 2025 other than acquire grail dolls I think this is pretty good :3nodding:

    59. - Complete layaway for Luts Niya & Loe
      - Sew a mini wardrobe for my imda 1.7
      - Take advantage of summer weather to do faceups
      - Maaaaybe do a photoshoot with my dolls?
      - Who am I kidding, I'll probably buy more dolls (elfinstore? myou?)

My focus has shifted to tiny dolls over the last year - including some off topic dolls - because they're so much easier to display in the tiny amount of space available to me. (It's just one 50cm wide shelf). It also helps that their clothes and accessories are much cheaper than BJDs. Now that I'm busy with university I don't have as much time to dedicate to sewing and it's easier/more relaxing to enjoy the dress up & photo side of the hobby. My 1/4 BJDs are sleeping in a box under my desk until I have the time to sew them again...
