2014 is looking like a good year for Doll Shows I can actually attend I will definitely have to attend this on Saturday so I can do dolly shopping. I'll be spreading the word to my friends about this event

Ms Cholong said that if there is a favorite company you would like to come, like Iplehouse or Soom, it might be good to tell the company. Some companies do not think it would be worth it to come, but might if people who were going expressed interest in seeing them.

Of course, do not pester companies. Just be polite and friendly, as usual.

I've just bought my membership. It will be fun, no matter what companies show up. (There's a list of those who ARE already coming on the website--and it's a nice list, considering so many have never been to any US events.)

 

I have every intention of getting all of my Sooms together and sending a photo to Ms. Cholong or Victoria. Soom doesn't realize how much of a fan base they have here in the states. I want to go to NY Comic Con just so I can see the Soom booth there, lol.

Hmmm... yeah, if Soom goes all the way to NY, they then should have no problem coming to L.A.!!! It would be so good to have Soom come. I don't want to travel all the way to the NYCC just to see Soom.

 

LA is so far away .. i wish it was CLOSER to the middle of the usa.

 

Well, a good thing would be that if doll companies saw that it was OK to come to L.A., they might also think of going to other places in the US, too!

 

It is less surprising that this event is being held in Los Angeles since I know that the hotel is located right in the middle of Koreatown. There are so many Korean businesses here that cater to Korean-speakers, so many of these Korean-based companies should find it convenient.

I live a few blocks west on Western and Wilshire, so I'm definitely looking forward to this event.

 

yeah but seems West coast gets too many cool stuff that us people closer to the East coast would like. (like there being a volks store on the west coast)It's honestly kinda disappointing For others.

Is there any way to purchase tickets to the sculptor events if we are only buying a one day pass? I happen to be visiting family down south that week and could possibly make it on Friday. I'd love to try to get to the lunch with Migi!

 

I just registered for Saturday and the closing dinner! I'm excited that Crobi Doll will attend. My dream is to see Pipos Doll there as well. I guess I will send them a tweet.

I just heard about this on the Dollism thread. I got to LA all the time to visit museums, see friends etc so I'm going to try and plan this out since it's short hop from Seattle!

 

Hi, I noticed Bluefairy is no longer on the exhibitor list, are they no longer attending? I was really excited for them to come but it'll be great either way!!

 

I'm so excited for this con to happen! I'm stuck in San Diego for the meantime but if anyone has rides to offer around the area please let me know =3=

 

The grass always seems greener! But Dollism Plus US will be held in NY. Volks was having events in NYC for years. Soom has gone to the NY Comic Con, and there was that Atlanta con last year... Seems there's stuff going on on the East Coast!

These events have to be organized by someone. If you want something in your area, then maybe try and organize something, right?

This BJD event is the first multiple-day con-like thing to be held in the Southern CA region (and it's a BIG and ACTIVE region) since the one Volks L.A. Dolpa in 2007... so it's not like this stuff happens out here all the time. There used to be GolgaCon in the Bay Area, but that hasn't been held for years. And, yeah, there is a doll event up in the NW, but it's not like those of us who are not living nearby can get to that anyway. But, there are planes and trains and such... I'm going to have to take a plane if I want to get to Dollism Plus. That's just how stuff works.

And I just saw the announcement that the LA Volks showroom will be closing. So, hey, no reason to feel jealous of us for that any more!

Alas! The closure of the Volks showroom means we had to change our travel plans, so we can't do the KBJD show after all. It would have been so great to do a Full Choice order and a convention in the same week! Hope to see some of you at Dollism Plus!!

Would a Volks panel really be appropriate? I thought this con was to focus on Korean BJD? If there was a connection, I would understand, but Volks is a very "Japanese" company if you know what I mean and I wouldn't want to offend any Korean guests. Also, the Volks store is closing so there might not be anymore FCS.

Just saw the notice that Dollmore is now out...

All my reasons for wanting to attend are slowing fading away...

 

I already purchased my tickets when I saw Crobidoll would be attending!

I am going to have to agree with Nimbusdrake; I believe since this is a show celebrating Korean BJDs, we should focus on Korean BJDs (though, I absolutely adore Volks).

At first I thought the Volks topic was odd... but then, there will be non-Korean doll artists at this show, so maybe anything goes? Or maybe it was just an example, but not necessarily something that would work for this show. I suppose that anything that had enough interest could be OK, though...!

My group is going to this it's ganna be pretty fun!!

 

The convention is welcome to all doll people. There will be US vendors and Korean vendors, but having panels and gathering for all sorts of dolls is welcome. That includes Volks, or Monster High Dolls, or whatever. Just let me know.

The convention location has also been changed to the Westin near LAX. Means it's even easier to get to the hotel/convention, and the hotel room rate is even lower! If you did get a room at the old hotel/location, you'll be able to cancel with no penalty (due to the hotel having double booked us).

 

Has anybody received a confirmation after they made their purchased for the dinner? I sent an email asking when we would know if we got the table of our choice, but I have not heard anything.

 

This sounds really awesome! I want to go so badly but unfortunately, I'll probably be at school. I hope everyone else has fun though.

I'm getting really excited for this convention. Being at the Westin makes it so much easier to get to, and they are use to fandom conventions.

 

Yeah, there have been a lot of conventions held in those hotels. I think one of the early or pre-A/X's were out that way, many, many years ago!

 

Wow this new hotel location is making it super convenient...

 

Yeah, it should be pretty easy to get to being by the airport instead of Korea Town... Sounds like they are expecting a good number of people if they had to get a larger venue!

 

Still looking for panels and gatherings for this convention. The schedule is getting filled up, so get your requests in.
