OK, this is the limit, i think. i gave them a chance because everyone says they're always late but their product is so good. i've waited since April, for heaven's sake. and it's too late for me to file a complaint with Paypal since i waited so long. I WANT MY EYES. i've already sent a complaint to Masterpiece. is there anything else i can do? EDIT: i finally got in touch with Masterpiece (their email was down) and it looks like my order got lost in the shuffle. they were very polite and apologetic, and my eyes arrived last week. yay Masterpiece!
Not really. Just keep nagging them. Its awful, isn't it? And really, if you're gonna wait that long for eyes, they should at least be nice urethane ones or something. Masterpiece eyes are NOT that great in comparison. I bet you though, they will not reply to you until they can say, "Oh, oops, sorry, we JUST MAILED OUT YOUR EYES." They totally did that to me once. I wanted my money back and they didn't reply for a week... just long enough for that next batch with my eyes in it to get made...
I know someone that is a masterpeice dealer and I wanted to get 13mm feather eyes, she said she has been waiting 3 months for an order for some customers...and it has finally been shipped... she said there are only 3 people that make them at the Masterpiece 'factory' and they had a huge order to fill.. so that is why if you made a singular order it may have got pushed back because of the dealers orders. I also talked to someone on ebay that deal in them and she just got her shipment after waiting a long time too...so you will get them but maybe next time go through a dealer and it may be quicker..um or not..lol if you need someone to buy from talk to TammyK on here..she is a masterpiece dealer.
Oh, this does not sound good. I placed an order with Masterpiece about 2 weeks ago. Does this mean they are going to completely ignore me unless i bug them? ----------------
if i'd known it was going to take this long i would have bought my eyes somewhere else. my boy is sitting here with orange eyes- they're very pretty, but he looks like a cross-dressing werewolf. argh.
eeek thats good to know.. i wont be ordering! they should get more staff or a better system and let ppl know
I might sound silly but please be more patient I ordered my MP eyes thru Karin and she had to wait like forever too eventually I got the eyes. So I am hoping you'll receive the eyes soon. Iff not maybe you can ask Karin to put some pressure on them?
Masterpiece has AMAZING product, and Are very nice to deal with (From my experience.. I love Gail) But they do need more help. Their orders take a VERY long time to conplete. They need more people in there. -Anthony
Yeah...I'm having some issues with them, too. I've had an order in since the beginning of July though (and have since then sent them about six emails pestering them XD!), so...I don't know how long it's going to take before I see anything in the mail. Probably months. -___-
I've had issues with Masterpiece too. After waiting 4 weeks for my eyes I gave them a call. All they could tell me was, they lost my order or it never was written down! Now is that a way to do business!! They never said sorry or anything. They didn't seem to care. If their growing that fast as a company maybe they should hire more people. At this point I wouldn't order direct from Masterpiece. Buy them from someone who has the eyes instock. I hope you get your eyes soon. I'l keep calling them... TK
I like the eyes very much but there is no way I would order direct from these people. I've got all mine from ebay where they were in hand and ready to come to me. I'd go nuts having to harass a vendor like that. I'm also none to sure I want to continue to support a company who treats their customers in so cavalier a manner. There are plenty of other nice eyes out there.
The same thing happened to me that happened to tkdesigns. After waiting for my order for 5 weeks or so I e-mailed them to ask when they would be shipping the order, and they told me that they didn't have any record of my order! They lost the order! So they said they'd put a "rush" on my order. It still took another 3 weeks after that to actually get the eyes. ... a total of 8 weeks. I never would have gotten the eyes at all if I hadn't e-mailed them about it. I've found it's best to buy the eyes through one of their distributors. The Santa and Bead Fanatic eBay store is a great place to buy from. They ship immediately. I think the eyes are a nice quality, and worth their price. Here's a link: http://www.santafanatic.com/CHRISTMAS/MasterpieceEyes.html I've bought from them 3 times, and they're great. By the way, if you do a search for "masterpiece eyes" here in the "buying/shipping qs and advice" forum, you'll find a bunch of posts just like this one. A lot of people have had the same trouble.
It's kinda funny what we are or are not willing to wait ages for ... like, if I make an Unoa pre-order for a Sist, I know I'll be waiting something like 6 months before I get her. Masterpiece is slower than molasses in January. There are other threads and other posts bemoaning this. The last time I ordered Masterpiece eyes through Karin, she said she wasn't going to custom order with them ever again (and the Masterpiece link on her website is now gone). She recommended, as others have here, buying from folks who have them in stock. Or placing your own order and settling in for the wait. I ordered a custom pair and it took 4 months to get them! They are nice eyes. For those, I was willing to wait. For anything else, I'll be looking elsewhere. Lisa
I don't think many people would want to wait that long just for eyes. A doll perhaps but certainly not eyes.
From everyone I've talked to, Masterpiece is terribly slow. I'd suggest using a retailer, like Karin who I've bought from and had very fast delivery. Ask for your money back for doing this to you, at the very least, they'll probably send them out. On another note, I don't find masterpiece eyes too impressive at all. They feel somewhat pixely to me, and made me really want an expensive glass pair. They don't have much depth, but the colors are very pretty. So, I wouldn't particularly reccomend them. ^_^;;
I have to say I like their acrylics far more than I like their silicone eyes. The acrylics are exceptionally lifelike while I find the silicones tend to be 'fun' rather than realistic.
I bought two pair of eyes from mater peice and wasn't too impress with them. ^^;; I rather wait 2-3 months and pay more for better eyes.
That was my problem with them too, $26-$40 and I can see pixels!!! I won a free pair from Karin once, and while I was really thrilled to get them, and Karin is awesome, I didn't want to actually buy any after getting them. Call me a freak, but I can't stand being able to see pixelation in my dolly eyeballs. Now I'm a total urethane/glass eye snob for my dolls. I'd rather pay $20 more and get beautiful color depth. However I do love the colors of the royal eclipse eyes (turquoise and purple, squee!), but I can't find anyone selling them in 13mm. And I don't know if I'll like them any better in a smaller size than I did in 19mm. ...and I've heard only bad things about ordering directly from the company.
I placed an order through Karin last year for four pairs of eyes and I recieved them a little over four months later. One of the pair was metalized which you don't normally find being sold through Ebay sellers, so I didn't have any other option, but to wait. I don't think I'd do it again. They all arrived with defects. The "Feather" eyes had black lint floating IN them, one pair had a hair actually poking up out of the surface near the pupil, the next pair had a piece of the white silicone poking into the clear dome, and the metalized ones had uneven pupils and the edges of the eyes were quite rough compared to the others. Karin was not able to help with the defects which I completely understand so I contacted Masterpice by e-mail. When they finally bothered to respond they told me to send them back. I wrote a couple of times asking if they needed all of the eyes back, or just the defective ones and they never wrote back. By that time, I had waited so long that I dropped the issue and ended up using the eyes, trying to disgiuse their flaws as best I can. It's really too bad because I think they are the only company who can make the custom eyes I want for Lex, but I can't rely on their quality. Now I'm mostly buying Eye Candies, Enchanted Doll Eyes, Sooms and Gumdrops.
I had bought a pair last September and was really excited to get them. Well, after 3 months I emailed them about my order. I got the "we got a large order..." excuse and was told my eyes would be sent in 7 days. I guess my single pair was not as important as a "larger order". Needless to say, when the eyes finally arrived, I was less than thrilled with them. They did not look as stunning as owner pics and they did not photograph well for me. I will not deal directly with them again! Lobelia
Last year I needed a pair of 8mm red eyes for a doll that was a Christmas present. I ordered them in September (_early_ September) through Audrey's dolls. After much annoyance (She was pestering Masterpeice on our behalf) I got them two days before Christmas....(I'm not too impressed with them. The "white" is very cloudy, and they looked...cheap. (Seriously, my doll with the $8 acrylic eyes looks better...) Audrey won't deal with them anymore after that... This year I did an order through Karin. I should have known better, but I _loved_ the colour green they had. After much fustration, I have them. Quality-wise, they're better...but the colour isn't even close to what it was on the website. After so much trouble I decided it just isn't worth it and Luka looks nice in them anyway... I'm _never_ ordering from them again. _If_ I feel the need to buy a pair I will buy them from someone that has them in hand.
June the 18th.. still nothing. Called them and complained, they said that they were doing urethane eyes, and mine were in the next batch.. x.x or were they. >< That was about two weeks after I ordered.. x.x
This is all interesting. I ordered two pairs last year around February or so (about the same time that I ordered my DoC Wi). Kelyn got here first, and then the two pairs of eyes arrived about a month later. Both sets were beautiful, but they messed up on my order and sent me a pair of normal pupil Afghan instead of serpent pupils. Well, I e-mailed and complained and they told me to keep the normal Afghans and they'd send the serpent ones. ...And sure enough, a few weeks later, my serpent pupil Afghans showed up, and those are beautiful too (see my sig pic for ref.). Reading this thread...I have to wonder...Am I the only one who's gotten decent customer service with Masterpiece? o.O;
Called them up over the phone and let them know I've been waiting for months, they apologized, and said it's already been shipped and I should get it by next week. If I don't, I'm going to be a little frustrated. I think I've been patient. >> They said that they're a small company and usually deal with 500 or so eyes, and they got an unusually large order of about 1000 which slowed them down a lot... she apologized a lot, at least.. Hope this helps any of you waiting for your eyes to know they haven't given up on us.
Wow O.O I'm glad I saw this. I've been wanting to order Masterpiece eyes, the "stained glass" ones in particular, and I can't find any other dealers who carry those. Anyone know of a place that carries their more unusual eyes? I guess I won't try my luck ordering straight from them.
I ordered some normal Afghan eyes from the company around early July, and I haven't heard anything, not too much to complain about yet. But I'm hoping this doesn't turn into another Masterpiece horror story. As for your question Tuvie, I'd check The Santa Fanatic on ebay. I'd ask her, at least, if she plans on ordering anything like that. Maybe Masterpiece will get to those people like her with big orders faster. Or maybe a whole bunch of us should go in on a group order ourselves, it's a thought. Good Luck all
Well, there are large Masterpiece group orders organized by Karin every so often. My extended wait for eyes was through one of those orders. Being a part of one didn't speed things up at all and it sure didn't get me quality goods for the dollar amount and waiting time. Since they always seem to be swamped and behind on their orders I'm not sure I believe that it's due to "OMG suddenly we got a huge order". They always get big orders, so why it is always a surprise to them? Perhaps they should train another eye maker. I have yet to find another source for their more unusual eyes. I may still bite the bullet and order my custom eyes that I want for Lex, I only hope they aren't damaged this time. If I'd known I could call them on the phone with regards to my damaged eyes I could have resolved it satisfactorily, but I just found out I could in this thread. My bad.
I ordered some eyes in June...and kept receiving the same response email after email, them stating "They are being made this week and will be shipped out in a few days!" ...of course they never were. So I sent them an email demanding that they either refund me the full amount I paid, or I would file a claim against them through paypal. The next few hours, there was a full refund in my paypal account. I hated resorting to that, but seriously...three months to make two sets of eyes? Absolutely ridiculous. There are some great sellers on eBay, however, that sell Masterpiece eyes, as well as other great brands. If you'd like their info, PM me! I don't want to post the links, as it'd be quite OT. XD
They told me they shipped them and they'd be arriving any day now... I'll let you know if they were telling the truth ;O
I have always been very pleased with the quality of my Masterpiece eyes (and I was a porcelain doll maker and am familiar with the various different brands). I always ordered through Karin, who is no longer going to carry the Masterpiece eye line because of their customer service issues. On the one hand, we can't expect to have the same kind of service from the Asian companies that we (usually) get in the USA, because the cultures are different. On the other hand, if any of you are constantly being told that your eyes "are in the mail" but they clearly aren't, there is no reason we should tolerate being lied to, either. If they're a USA based company, we have the right to expect much better service. The best way to send a message is to stop ordering.
Masterpiece eyes is based out of Glendale, AZ. And to wait a few months for eyes that are flawed is unreasonable. I can see pixels in mine too, and i'm not going to even bother with trying again. I'll just have to go with a more stable company.
That's the same crap I got from Artistique when I placed my first and last order with them forever ago.
HAH! I FINALLY got my eyes today. I guess they were telling the truth when I called them up and bothered them. They're what I ordered, not what I expected, but I'm glad to finally get them. They gave me a second pair for free as an apology. That calms me a little... I guess they do care about their customerses feelings. They don't really look like the picture though.. they have very dark lines from the iris, almost makes them look like stars... They look rushed. But at least the dark starry eye look fits my boy ^^ Pictures later. I really wish they didn't rush them... they look nothing like the pictures ;-; At least Ciel likes them.
I have decided after I bought one pair of Mastepiece Eyes (Woodland); I will never buy another, cause there are some Soom and other glass eyes I like better. I'm trying to sell this pair, I don't like them. The color is sub-par and grainy, I don't think I'm going to get back what I paid for them. ($23) I was actually very dissapointed with them once I got them. They looked cheap sitting next to some glass eyes I bought at my local doll shop for $8.00. And then I decided I didn't even want green eyes for my mini-boy at all. :/ I didn't care for Masterpiece eyes at all, color me unimpressed.
I had two pairs of masterpeice eyes. And I disliked both of them. While it looks good on the website, it gathers dust so easily, and does not photograph well. I have amuch stronger love of glass and urethane eyes. And they're gorgeous and photograph very well. The only acrylics I will buy are souldoll.
Here's my experience with Masterpiece: I ordered two pairs of eyes with custom serpent pupils towards the end of August, immediately got email comfirmation that said it 'should be about ten days'. I let a month go by before replying to the email with an inquiry on how long it was going to be. They promptly sent back another email saying they were sorry for the delay and that my eyes would ship out on Friday. I was actually rather surprised when they arrived the following Monday. On the quality...one of the eyes has an off-set 'dome'. It doesn't really show while in a doll, though, so I don't think I'm going to bother with the hassle of trying to get a replacement...especially since the doll those eyes are for will probably not be purchased for a year or so. ^^; Just look-and-feel wise...well, I don't really like them. They are the perfect look for eyes for the doll(s) in question, but the quality is not as good as the one pair of Soom eyes I have. I think I'll just stick to glass, urethane, and Soom eyes, in future. Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder exactly how big the staff at Masterpiece is...perhaps it's just one guy doing everything. O__o
I'm really sad to read about this, because I've had an order in to them since August and after asking them about my order in September, was told it takes time and they are in the current batch...but now here we are in October and I don't have any eyes. I would have loved to buy them from someone in stock, but I haven't seen anyone who stocks Afghan Eyes, which I've been wanting forever...it would be nice, since they know how long the wait can be, if they'd indicate it on the website somewhere what the expected wait time might be. I can't find that anywhere on the site, so I assumed it wouldn't be unreasonable.
well I know Donn at BishonenHouse.com keeps a few in stock (thats where I got mine) but I'm pretty sure he just has the one size (17mm I think?) and not all the colours
I do like Masterpiece eyes, but it really is hit or miss with them in terms of quality. They seem to have absolutely no quality control and I will never buy from them directly again. The last pair I got from them, I waited 8 weeks for (and I see the wait has got even worse now); they were filmy and the iris was ragged. It's much better to buy from a dealer. Along with Safrin Doll, you can also try BJs Babes if you're looking for a particular colour. Here is their website: http://www.bjsbabes.com/Masterpiece%20eyes.htm They also sell on ebay. If they don't have the colour you want, do email them and they should be able to tell you if they have them on order, etc. Safrin and BJs both ship to the UK and I've bought from both before and they've been great. Another seller I've been recommended are these guys: http://www.denverdoll.com/masterpiece_eyes_for_your_favori.htm Sadly they were out of stock on the afghans I wanted. Rather optimistically they've put 'coming soon' on their webpage (bless). I'm really disappointed in Masterpiece; they do colours you can't get anywhere else. I've been wanting silver fox and afghan for ages now and none of the sellers ever have them in stock. I've also noticed the pixel thing is a fairly recent development; the reason I liked their eyes is because they were very realistic and I have older pairs that are.
I've been waiting 14 weeks for my MP eyes. They've promised twice they're sending them out the next week. Edit: Got my eyes today. 16 weeks seems to be the average waiting time for Masterpiece eye orders.
*sigh* This explains everything. =_=;; I wish I've found this thread before ordering from them, because at this rate, calculating from when I ordered from them (Feb 8 ), I might not even be in the U.S. anymore by the time the eyes arrive. edit: I've e-mailed them this morning explaining my situation and received a very prompt reply in the afternoon that I'll receive the eyes in the next 2 weeks. =) I'll be patiently waiting until then!
Ok,I was thinking to buy from Masterpiece, but I do not get any response on my emails. And now I know I can order from Grace, and I love her eyes more I agree but I need those: Custom, pfff wish I could buy eyes like this. (I sound so unthankful..) Edit: Hmm beter to buy from Grace if I read all comments here...
Adding my two cents to this thread: I ordered from Masterpiece in mid-June and by late August I hadn't received my eyes so emailed them to ask if they had a ballpark figure for when they would likely be shipped out. Gayle responded to say they would ship in about ten days. I eventually received them on 28 September, just when I was about to email again to ask if there'd been a delay as in my experience most packages shipped from the USA to Australia take about a week to arrive, tops. To be honest I don't mind the waiting so much but it would be nice to be kept informed of any delays, especially as their website advertises a 2-5 week wait - when that becomes more like 12 weeks and as the client you're the one having to initiate contact I do think that is rather poor customer service (particularly from an American business). That said, I do really like the eyes I received and based on that alone would (unfortunately) buy from them again.
It took seven weeks for mine (ordered August 9, received September 29), and I emailed them every week past the five week mark politely asking for order updates, mostly because I'd found this thread. The eyes I'd ordered did not come out as I had hoped, so I wound up ordering two new sets from ginarolo instead. Would I order from Masterpiece again? Probably not, but I won't rule it out completely.
I have found that the quality of MP eyes has plummeted in the past year. Misshapen irises, oddly placed pupils, mismatched sclera (that's the white part of the eye), you name it. How this can be, when the eyes are essentially a picture behind a lens, is a mystery to me. I have some MP eyes that are amazing, but overall, I am switching to Soom for color, quality, and service.
