    8. Hello hello. ^_^ I've been browsing around DoA for awhile now, but I have yet to come across a police outfit! I don't know if I just haven't been looking in the right places, or maybe I'm the only one interested in having one, but if I ever have enough funds for a second doll (Right now things are looking pretty bleak, just found out my parents are going to forclose on the house and I might have to move into my own apartment. X.X ) he will need one of these outfits. :XD: Long story.

But enough with my rambling! I want to see if these actually exist out there. :)

    9. I'd love to see an SD-sized Police uniform too! My friend Matirx7 has a doll who wears the style of a British Police Officer though! I have some photos of him that I took. ^_^

    10. I would like to see dolls in different kinds of uniform. If you have photos of dolls in army modern uniform, any of World Wars, maybe some kind of fantasy armour, please post 'em here.

      Thanks for your attention:roll:

    21. Ok, so I looked under the data base for Militarty around the ww1 and ww2 times. But I couldn't find one. I have a doll who is supost to were a military uniform from ww1 or ww2.

But I wanted to see other's dolls if they have ever had this kind of clothing as well?
I all so know that ringdoll has uniforms that look alot like the uniforms from ww2.
I would all so like to see any thing related (much like ringdoll's uniforms)

      Thanks,
      ~Rozen

    22. Great thread! I hope there will be lots of posts here.

I don't own any professionally made uniforms but I have an unfinished one - well the bottom half of one at least; I'm not good at sewing. ^_^; It's supposed to one day become an Italian WWII uniform of the kind that were used during the Africa campaign by the Bersaglieri.

Any one inspired in the German uniforms from the wwI and wwII? I'm making my owns and I'd love to see some on your dolls.

    25. My doll Hans is a soldier from the second world war, and has a German uniform, made out of the same thick wool etc.
It has a few alternations since it's also supposed to be his Cosplay (Hans Günsche, the Captain from Hellsing).
He also has a jacket, but I haven't made photos of him in it yet.

    28. So, I seem to have a slight addiction to military dolls... looking to see uniforms that look pretty accurate to the real thing!

I would be especially interested in seeing American WWII uniforms...

If you could, tell me who made the outfit. :)

      Thank you muchly!!

    29. I would also love to see accurate WWII or WWI (but British) unforms. A greatcoat of some sort would be particularly tempting. Sadly, I don't believe they exist.

I have no pictures, only links. Freedom Teller produced a limited edition Irish Guards uniform that was fairly accurate, bar the cap. It might be possible to get one on the secondary market. But it would be worth checking the site to see if they try something else.

      http://www.freedomteller.net/shop/step1.php?number=108

The only even slightly accurate WWII uniform I have seen is M3 Shop's attempt at an SS uniform (again, bar the cap, which looks as though it escaped from a Village People video). There are many, many other inaccuracies (the cuff title, the lower pockets on the tunic etc etc etc) but it is a lot closer than the many other anime-inspired SS-style uniforms that there are around.

      http://www.m3bjd.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=49&category_id=9&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=11

If you have any 1:6 dolls, they can wear the extremely accurate action figure uniforms around (ie Dragon in Dream http://http://www.did.co/products/wwii/) although, perhaps surprisingly, there is still a dearth of WWI stuff. No idea why. Perhaps War Horse will prompt someone to start making them.

Just to remind us what we are up against, a selection of what generally passes for a "military uniform" in BJDLand. Yes...

      http://www.alicescollections.com/clothes-army-uniforms-c-3_17.html

    30. There's also this one on Ebay, which isn't accurate to any particular nation or time period either, but is still a relative rarity in that it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that the anime/fantasy-styled uniforms feature in such abundance. If you remove the star studs and replace the buttons with more in-scale, professional-looking ones, you end up with a pretty decent "generic" uniform to work with.

    31. That is a useful one, meili-melee. And mybayer will custom make stuff, so you could ask if it could be made without the stars and reduce the size of the dinner-plate buttons (although they are at least metal) or make it in another size (she can charge a drafting fee for that, but fair enough, and her custom pieces do fit well).

More! Find me a greatcoat, someone!

    32. Yes, that's actually what I did when I ordered from mybayer. I wanted the uniform in a larger size (to fit a big Loongsoul 75cm male) anyway, so I asked about other customization options while I was at it. The back-and-forth communication took some time, and as MadamMauMau said, of course they do charge more for a custom job, but here's what I got out of it:

      - Make the uniform in a custom size?: Yes, just provide them with the detailed measurements of your doll
      - Leave off the star studs?: Yes; you can also ask them to still include the star studs separately (at no extra charge), in case you do wish to add them on your own later
      - More buttons up the front (ex. 4 instead of 3) to suit a longer torso?: Yes
      - Change to smaller (i.e. not so "dinner-plate"-like, haha) buttons?: Unfortunately no, since they don't have any smaller suitable buttons available. I would highly recommend changing them on your own, though, since the big default buttons have the words "China Button Co." or something like that on them, and it rather spoils the effect, haha.
      - Other color options?: The uniform's outer jacket and pants are available in green (as seen in the sales pictures) or black; the inner shirt is available in white, black, or red; and you can ask for a necktie to be included, though I'm not sure if they offer the tie in anything other than black
      - Belt with shoulder strap included by default? Yes
      - Matching military cap available? Yes actually, for an additional $15, even though it's not shown in the Ebay store. The cap is made nicely enough, but is probably not quite as good if you're going for accurate/realistic, especially since it seems oversized to me and most suitable for a 9-10 inch head circumference. It also comes with a metal badge that seems amusingly better-suited to a leathered-up biker/road hog than, you know, a military uniform meant to be taken remotely seriously, but thankfully this badge is easy to remove without damaging the cap itself.

That's what I can remember from when I ordered. However, I made my purchase one or two years ago, so this may not be the most current info on what mybayer has available. It's certainly worth asking about, though! As you can see, they're very nice and willing to accommodate a lot of changes/requests.

    33. Do you have a picture of the cap, meili-melee? Most of the ones I have tried are truly awful. The best so far is by heisejinyao. Like yours, it is BIG and only really fits my Akando. It also has all the anime frills and furbellows that I really could live without. But it might be possible to get one custom made without the embroidery. She used to have a thread here on the MP, but certainly sells via dollsinging on eBay.

And it is possible to find tiny metal shank buttons to replace default ones. I got some for my Akando's M3 SS uniform, after much internet searching, measuring and tippy tapping with the calculator (I think I ended up figuring out that they would need to be c. 6mm to be in scale for a 70cm chap, but only found them in 8mm). You will NEVER find them in a truly accurate style (mine should have been in a hammered finish) but one needs to suck it up and compromise.

The Heise cap. Yeah, yeah. None of that is accurate, but perhaps that is all for the best, given the subject matter.

    34. You may want to look at this boutique: http://www.thefairys.net/main.htm

There are some nice examples of uniforms that have been commissioned on pages 11-12, 18,24,27, 38 etc. in the "Shop" category on their site.(Unfortunately they do not have direct links to the outfits or I would have provided them.)

Also in their gallery there are some more uniforms commissions you may want to browse through as well.

Recently they started accepting overseas orders but unfortunately they do not accept paypal. I believe majority of their outfits are custom made but there are a few pages of in stock items too.

    35. Thanks so much for the link, PeppermintPatty, the quality and tailoring on all of those commissions look excellent (though I think for now I ... don't want to know their price for a custom commission, haha).

MadamMauMau, I don't have pictures of a doll wearing the caps, but I do have the images mybayer emailed to me when I asked to see what the cap looked like:

      Green version

Iplehouse Akando has a 9-10 head size, right? So size-wise the HZ cap looks quite good on Horse, in my opinion. (And hello there, Mauzi.)

I remember I had a heck of a time finding the right buttons in the 6-8mm size range too, and also had to settle for ones that weren't quite what I had in mind. Try as I might, I can't remember the site where I purchased them, but if I do manage to recall, I'll post the link here in this thread.

    36. Whilst not perfect, that is a hell of a lot better than most of the military caps I have seen. It is quite close to the HZ cap, except mine has a moulded plastic peak, not a sewn one, and that does make it look rather more polished. But, yes, LOL on the cap badge. Thanks for those.

This is where I got my metal shank buttons. They are 8mm, which is fractionally large, but I think they will do (I haven't got around to replacing the M3 ones yet as I became despondant when I found that the uniform was a stupidly snug fit on my Akando and the shoulder belt was too short to go over his shoulder. A warning to anyone wanting to order Superhero-sized stuf from M3).

For anyone in search of jackboots/riding boots, Dollmore do a decent pair. I have the model sized ones, but I think they do them in a variety of sizes.

      http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=6315

And thanks for that link PerpermintPatty. There is some amazing stuff on there. Like meili-melee though, I am terrified of the price. But I have bookmarked it, for when I am feeling flush.

    37. Oh my gosh, I LOVE the Fairy Tales boutique...gonna inquire prices soon. THANK YOU!!
Unfortunately no contributions to this thread from me--all I see are fantasy uniforms everywhere. I'll be keeping up with this thread though <33

    38. Madam MauMau: Do those boots fit the EID guys ok? I tried one pair of their boots and I nearly tore them apart trying to get them off. I'd love a pair of those Jacks, though!

    39. ZennoSaji, no they do not fit, unfortunately. The feet fit fine, but the EID calves are just too well-developed to get the zip up. Dollmore used to do the Leven boots in Glamour Model size and those were a good fit, allegedly. Sadly, they have now sold out and I haven't had any bites on my WTB thread on the MP, so still looking.

    40. Thanks for all the links and help, guys!

Guess I should be more specific, too...

I am looking for a American WWII paratrooper combat uniform, mostly; though non-combat uniforms would work too (they are just harder to get right).

I guess my biggest problem is that I am hoping to get two of these in DollShe size.

Some other stuff I wanted: sailor outfit (WWII), pilot outfits (WWI, 1920s, WWII, 1960s fighter pilot, 1980s fighter pilot), etc...

I also wouldn't mind paying for custom outfits, or even if someone wanted to trade professional photographs for one. I am wanting these for a special project of mine. ; )

    41. Ah, I found the site where I purchased the buttons I used, these ones specifically: http://www.ejoyce.com/pmain?cmd=e_view&num=21485&acode=000100090019
Unfortunately, they no longer seem to have the 14L (8mm) size available for any of the button colors, so unless those come back in stock eventually, MadamMauMau's link is definitely more promising.

Yes, Britt, it's probably unlikely that you'll be able to find something as specific as the paratrooper uniform and the like without going the custom commission route. ^^; I vaguely recall Migidoll going with a pilot uniform look for their limited "Sky Guys" edition releases, but those weren't historically specific and would have been more suitable for the 60cm size range, in any case.

    42. I'm sure it doesn't need stating - but....please remember that DoA DOES NOT ALLOW the posting of any obvious Nazi or Nazi glorification militaria.

      Carry on.

    43. Meili-melee, I actually have two of the Migidoll "Sky Guys" uniforms... XD
I will have to post them. I sued the jumpsuit to depict two different time periods: WWII bombardier pilot and 1980's Naval pilot. I used different jackets, boots, etc to make them seem different... That is my sad excuse for right now.

Also, just realized my thread was mushed into this one? I was wondering why...

Yes, also don't plan on posting anything Nazi-related. I am specifically looking for American uniforms only. Thanks!

    44. Going out on a limb here, but might anyone have/know of Napoleonic uniforms for dolls? Yes...those fancy pants ones :) I'm really interested in seeing some but there are none I've seen that even come close to accuracy in style.

    45. I would also like to see Napoleonic uniforms.

Does having a doll dressed in a Nazi or Nazi-inspired uniform (as the vast majority of fantasy uniforms are) count as glorification? Does this mean we can not link to apparent SS uniforms (the M3 offering) or post pictures of them? I hope not. I personally see my uniforms as fetish wear and can not tolerate seeing a swastika or other obvious insignia that points to Nazi ideology. It seems like an arbitray line to draw, but one has to draw it somewhere and this has given me much thought.

As meili-melee stated, Britt, there is a dearth of any kind of accurate military uniform, never mind ones from a particular country and era. Your only hope is commissioning.

It is a shame this thread has been merged (although I can understand why it needed to be) as I suspect we now have lost access to the people who are concerned about accurate unforms, as opposed to fantasy ones. Ah well. There are now a few of us who are aware of this need and can post if we find anything.

    46. Whoops, so that's where this thread went ...

Britt, I'd love to see pictures of your customizations of the Migidoll Sky Guys outfits, and I'm glad you were able to get your hands on a couple of them. XD

If anyone here is interested in seeing modern day military uniforms, I'll keep an eye out for close matches to those as well. I own a set of army fatigues that I purchased in a small BJD shop in Beijing and that fits my Loongsoul 75cm guy perfectly, but again, just haven't gotten around to taking any halfway decent pictures yet.

    47. Yes! I for one would very much like to see them. I tried a GI look a while back and got nowhere near. You couldn't even say it was GI-inspired. But it was the best I could get to at the time.

My only triumph was mini dog tags, which were from eBay. There were something like these (I can't find the listing now).

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIQUE-T-T-Silver-Plain-Double-DOG-TAG-Small-Size-NEW-/120747102750?pt=AU_Mens_Jewellery&hash=item1c1d16921e

Dollmore then brought out their own dolly dog tags, but I can't find them on the site so perhaps they are no longer available.

Another recent discovery (passed onto me by the wonderful aernath) is accurate firearms for the 70cm blokes, eg http://http://www.johnstones.com/accessories/acc/catalog.php?id=1154. They do a bolt action rifle (this one), a Remington pump action shotgun and an M16 assault rifle. I will ask aer to post a picture of her Dollshe holding it. They are perfect scale and pretty accurate.

    48. Haha, I hadn't realized this thread was merged. I visited earlier and I was like whoa...how in the world did I miss a whole page of photos!?

I think Nazi uniforms themselves look great (props to the designer), but the decision for doll boutiques to include details like the swastika--even if the designers vouch for accuracy--is a little excessive. Then again in Asia where a lot of them are made, it's not a touchy issue due to cultural differences. All in all, best to avoid them I guess?

Also, seconded for talented seamstresses who can make historical clothes! I'm contacting Fairy Tales (thefairys.net) right now about tailoring a Hussar uniform and so far am ready to puke blood from seeing their prices :sweat guess you get what you pay for, huh?

    49. Oh, oh! I know Ninestyle has some BJD scale dog tag necklaces:
      http://www.nine9style.com/shop/step1.php?number=2000
      http://www.nine9style.com/shop/step1.php?number=1581
      http://www.nine9style.com/shop/step1.php?number=1589
      http://www.nine9style.com/shop/step1.php?number=1588

And my goodness those lighters are awesome. That M-16 is seriously tempting me now. I hadn't seen those before, but I do have a Browning M2/M3 machine gun lighter, similar to this one: http://www.abclighters.com/products/New-14.6''-M2HB-Browning-50-CAL.-M2-Machine-Gun-Lighter.html
In terms of scale it's probably better for 60cm than 70cm dolls, but it's heavy and well-made and looks fantastic.

Other weapons I've found in BJD-friendly sizes:
      - AUG assault rifle (1/3 scale metal replica)
      - M14 rifle (from the Dragon 1/3 firearms series, plastic; I believe Junkyspot carries some of these too)
      - Mark XIX Desert Eagle (.50 AE) handguns (die-cast keychains, chain was fairly easy to remove)
      - Combat knife (also originally a die-cast keychain)

... Gosh. I really need to set aside some time eventually to take pictures of all this stuff. What's the point of all that firepower if it spends all of its time just sitting on a wooden dresser, gathering dust and aimed in my general direction?

    50. That machine gun is beyond awesome but, ye gods! The price!

Yus, I had seen the Dragon models, but they are too small for my 70cm chaps.

I also have some die cast keyrings guns of various types. They need repainting in more realistic colours, which I will get around to some day, but they are a good scale for the Big Boys.

      eg revolver.

And in the hands of someone who really shouldn't be allowed to handle firearms.

There are lots of these available on eBay. To figure out if they are the right scale for Big Boys, multiple the keyring length by 2.6, find the measurements of a life scale gun of that type via Google and see if the two compare.

    51. meili-melee, I can get some photos of my Migidoll outfits soon. With jackets on, the jumpsuits look pretty realistic.

The hat, scarf, and jacket is really only useful for my 40's pilot... However, the jacket I paired with my other jumpsuit is from VOLKS, and is a direct mini-replica of the M1 flight jackets that have been used probably since the 80's (or beyond... not sure). It's a green material with an orange inner.

My VOLKS jacket is extremely accurate... the most accurate piece I've seen thus far. Now, if only VOLKS would release more military clothing!

    52. Here ya go: pix of the butane lighter rifle with a DollShe
I got this one locally from a Northern Tool store for $9.99.

..and a Navy uniform I got from InifinitiDoll, back when they first opened up with their Alex sculpt.
We all sighed over the uniform and begged to be able to buy it. But the $300 price tag put everyone but me, off. After a bit of hemming and hawing, I decided it was worth it. :drool :nosebleed
      [IMG]

    53. That Navy Uniform is super nice aernath! Definitely worth it!
I was super excited that Sadol started making Napoleonic uniforms - and even more so when they agreed to custom make me one in gray! Now my Nigh Hill finally has his grail outfit :D

    54. I'd like to try my hand at making a military uniform myself but the part that I'm stuck on is how to go about making those wonderful hats <3 Is there a place just to buy the hats or does someone know how to make them? Because when Miles comes home, he needs an Imperial Russian uniform ;-;

    55. Beautiful!

    56. Bit of thread necromancy
At some point in the next year I intend to make a British WW1 Infantry uniform for a semi-historical character of mine I am putting into dolly form. I hope to be able to find him a model 1/3 rifle of the right type otherwise I'll have to MAKE one.
