I have been working on this project for a long time. Started this a few years ago with some bad sculpting mass. It looked intimidating but I figured out what kind of joints I want to have and where. Some time later I laid my hands on some 3d printer >w< I did a lot of work using anatomy references so the second version looked more decent. The plan was to use the general body proportions from the 2003 version, different face shapes for each as in the 2012 version, and a more angular plastron silhouette as in the 2018 version. But the printer that I had at the time did not give good detail and I had to heavily prime the surface to hide the stripes from the print. So I left this project for a while. I recently bought a new printer with much better detail so I'm back with this project. I need to tweak the models for 3 more brothers to work with this material. But I hope this time I will bring this project to completion. I have poor lighting today so the photos are not particularly good. But I just wanted to share. This dolls was planned to be 1/6 size. And like in the old animations, the turtles are somewhat shorter than the human characters. Here is a photo with Barbie and 1/6 action figure. It would also be greatly appreciated if any of you could advise me which photopolymer resin is best to use for printing things like this. I'm kind of new at this.
wow! fantastic work! you really captured the spirit of the characters and the poseability is impressive i usually find jointed hands unnecessarily fiddly but they really work for these guys
Thank you! This is a really long project that I put a lot of effort into. Yeah, I also find jointed hands awkward to use. I guess with 3 fingers there is just less can go wrong than with 5) But I think maybe it's better to make them 2 versions of regular hands. Open and to hold weapons. I haven't decided yet.
This is SO cool! I loved watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a kid, and still love them as an adult. Thank you for sharing your progress so far!
