1/3 Telesthesia Dolls

Mar 3, 2016

    1. The OC I originally had shelled with the 68cm body got swapped to a different one (more to do with compatibility issues due to the the new head's size than anything regarding the body itself), but I fully intend on holding on to the 68cm. From what I remember (I received it in 2015ish, so my memory's a bit faulty) it held a good range of poses right out of the box. I especially love the way the arms hold a pose without sueding, and he wasn't ever kicky. In fact— even when I did a full body blush I never bothered to unstring him, and he's been pretty steady without needing a restring since I got him. At some point, I hope to find another OC/head sculpt that I can use for this body:3nodding:

I surprisingly don't have a wealth of photos of the boy when he was shelled on the 68cm, but I think this shows a bit of his poseability:

No sueding, wiring, etc to get him to hold it at all:kitty1

That listing's actually been there for a while (I check occasionally out of curiosity), so there's a possibility he'll still be listed when you do have the funds to order him. If I wasn't so stuck on character specific shelling—I wouldn't mind having this boy myself. A sucker for elf ears, but I also love his expressive face.:thumbup

    2. Wow how many parts do they send??? I was expecting it to be one or 2 only!!

    3. They come on average with 5!

      • x 1
    4. @Sadomina omg he is stunning, i have been considering buying a yun minglin since he was released and have been trying to find some owner pics of him but haven't been able to, seeing yours makes me want him even more his profile is incredible!

    5. Oh wow, I assume all of their fools come with the extra bits? If so, makes me even more excited to get my doll haha Not sure what I can do with 5, but it’s a fun thing to own

      • x 1
    6. It's so funny to me that companies literally never say in the body descriptions if they come with "parts" or not. So either you watch unboxings and find out if they do or don't, or you get your doll and.... Surprise! lmao

      • x 2
    7. I'm pretty sure only their 68cm and taller bodies come with extra bits which are magnetic. Way back when, when I got Mort on his first gen uncle body from 2009 he came with 3 bits. It's fun to compare the old to the current 72cm body.

    8. 5?? I can’t even imagine what …er…poses those 5 have. It’s kinda nice that TD are so thorough though. Prepared for all eventualities. My kids will be fascinated I imagine. Well my 13 year old daughter will be embarrassed and my 12 year old son will be fascinated. He’s much more down to earth than she is.

Lol can you imagine someone being totally unaware that “parts” might be in the box and opening a doll with their grandparents or something I’m 51 and I think my parents would be very uncomfortable if I opened a box to find a bag of parts like that

    10. Funny story in that vein! My mom gifted me Mort (aka gave me the money to order him) for Christmas in 2011, and since she bought him for me I let her open him. I also (purposely) failed to mention he came with extra parts (back then it was only 3). She was in her mid 50s at that point, and upon opening the small packet of man parts she looked perplexed. I told her to put one on him, and she slapped down the biggest one right between his legs with such enthusiasm that my now-wife and I nearly died laughing.

And congrats on starting your layaway!

    12. I have a bit of problem with my Rong You :sweat

I feel the size of his head is "way" too small in comparison to the size, height of his body! All my dolls have a head size that feels better in proportion to the rest of their body. My JID Lucian who is much smaller sized than my Rong You seem to have a larger sculpted face. Also my Doll Family H Beilan who's 70+ cm in height have a larger better suiting head in comparison to the size of his body.

My Rong You head look like a needle pin on a tall tower with his 68cm body. I feel like I would like him more on the 62 cm T&D body. It does say that both the 62 cm and the 68 cm T&D body have the same neck circumference, 10cm. According to Alice's Collections anyways.

So I guess getting my Rong You the 62 cm body should be fine?

    13. I’m sorry to hear that his head looks so small on the tall body. With both necks’ being the same circumference it should definitely work to just get the shorter body for him.

    14. That's good to hear :) I were just wondering at first if the neck circumference were listed right on Alice's Collections site as it's a bit of difference between a 62 cm and a 68 cm body.

I love my Rong You, but that body does not feel like him :sweat A bit bummed about this, as if I don't already got too many things in my doll hobby that I need to get done, and now I have to add one more thing to the list  But I rather he feel like how I see him, than how he is at the moment!

    15. Right now I'm looking at Longsoul Yan Ling, and his head circumference is 20 cm. Rong You's head circumference is 21 cm.

Maybe it's just me who are more used to a bit larger heads on my doll bodies :sweat But I guess none of my dolls have ever had this kind of pin head feeling, except from when I tried owning an IH FID once. And it were not cuite my cup of tea!

Idk quite how it is, but are more companies going for much smaller head sizes than there used to be in the past?

I thought my Iplehouse YID and SID boys had small heads before, but compared to Rong You there is quite the differnce, it seem.

Idk how the rest of you feel about 20, 21 cm heads on tall bodies? I guess I'm just used to going from the large heads of the DOD DOIs, from back in the day and work my way down to Dollmore, MNM, Iplehouse, Luts, Rainman and Doll Family H. None of them feel like they have either too large or too small heads, and they all seem to fit nicely on their bodies proportionwise without anything feeling out of place, or making me feel like it bothers me.

It's my first time going as far down in head size as my Rong You. I do like the Loong Soul dolls too but if smaller heads on larger bodies bother me this much, I better be careful and choose sculpts that comes with smaller type bodies, or be willing to put in the time to hybrid them!

      • x 1
    16. Yan Ling can be on either a 62 or 68 cm body too, like Rong You and the younger Xiao Bei from TD too. I think I'm running into the opposite problem, where a lot of dolls I'm looking at that aren't TD or Loongsoul feel like their head measurements are too big!
But I only have one doll to compare them to at the moment, so I'm not really sure where that sweet spot is for proportions.

    17. I’m the opposite from you @manabusama . I like small heads but I like a more realistic style overall. I get upset with heads over 21cm on my 73cm bodies. I have many 65cm doll heads on the 73cm bodies too. I also don’t want a doll that has huge eyes or normal sized irises. We all have our own tastes and I think that’s fine. The nice thing about Loongsoul and Telethesia is you can buy the bodies separately and make hybrids with whatever size head is your preference.

    18. I guess it all comes down to what we start out with in the hobby. I started with very large head sizes XD And gradually got used to going smaller, and then a bit more smaller.

The thing for me now is that I create a group of BJDs that belongs to the same background story. So I rather the head sizes won't be all over the place. I want to keep them looking as if they fit into the same world. If the heads get on the smaller side I solve that by choosing a smaller body. But since it's my first time ordering a doll like Rong You, I did not know what to expect!

I'd love to undress him once more just to see if I feel differently when he does not have anything on. But that Hanfu outfit took so long to get on that I'm not very tempted to to take it of just yet :sweat

It's definitely good though it is possible to go for some smaller sized bodies :3nodding:

Since I started in the hobby so long ago, I guess a lot of the head sizes back then were much larger in comparison to how the sizes have become today. Or maybe it were more that the DOD DOI heads were particularly large! I have horrible memory, so I don't really remember much besides some of the dolls I've owned or still own.

I don't feel like there's anything wrong with the smaller head sizes, just as long as they are on 62-63 cm bodies XD It were kind of a shock to me to see my Rong You as he do feel like a tower to me :sweat

But there might also be because I made up his character some time before getting him, and he were supposed to be much smaller in comparison to DF H Beilan, a fire demon that he encounters somewhere in his background story. "Long tower" Rong You just did not match with the character in my bacground story

I ordered through Alice's Collections, and there were no TD 60 cm size separate body option there though.

    19. Yeah I've noticed this trend too, of the ever shrinking head sizes in the large doll circles. It wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't own a bunch of older dolls with big heads, so it's a little off putting. My TD FeiHuaDeng twins are pretty pin headed in comparison to other dolls of mine in that size range.
My LoongSoul Black Dragon has a 20.9cm head circumference and it is quite the difference to his lover, who is shelled in an old Soom Chrom hybrid. I am so glad I opted for a puffy wig for the LS boy becaus it helps a little to even out the head sizes between the two.

My Dragondoll Cheng, from before the company's merger with Telesthesia, has a huge head, and looks right at home on the taller 80cm body I stuck him on. He did always look awkward being on a 72cm body before (the neck was rather short on the first uncle body from 2009 from Dragondoll), so I am glad he looks good on the taller body.

Honestly, smaller heads on more lithe bodies don't bother me as much as on buff bodies, I think that's what throws me off on Black Dragon in person. He's a pretty buff body and his head is so small!

    20. This is all why I got my Xiao Bei (the younger looking one) put on the 68cm body instead of the 62cm body that he's supposed to be on. In my opinion his head looks too big for that body in the promo photos, so I'm hoping that his head won't look too small for the 68cm body. However, I don't think it will because all of the measurements for the 68cm and 62cm heads are the exact same, not just the neck size. The measurements only go up when you reach the 72cm dolls, so I feel like I should be good. I also don't plan on keeping him on that body anyway, and changing it to a different company's body and then giving his to a different doll. That won't be for a while though.

    21. I personally think the 68cm TD dolls look perfectly fine proportion-wise. It's indeed a question of what type of aesthetic one is used too ^-^ The so-called pin-headed look is actually far more realistic (if you look at yourself in the mirror, you'll start noticing how "pin-headed" we are ourselves xD). That's especially true for a lot of male dolls in the 70cm+ category and I personally appreciate that since I don't want my dolls to be too cartoon-y ^_^

I have a 21.5cm TD head on their 74cm body and was very worried about the head being too small for such a buff body prior to his arrival. But once he's dressed and has his wig on, his proportions are perfectly normal and exactly my taste ♡

    23. My Xiao Bei came today! Annnnnd the faceup is nothing like the promos. There was someone a while back on here who said their telesthesia doll from acbjd was given a random faceup, and I think that's what happened with mine as well. I mean red eyebrows?! lol I'm gonna wipe it and try to do my own, and if I can't I have a couple artists in mind!

His wig is the one from the promos, but no wigs look exactly like the photos lol! He was also given random eyes that are way to big for him, I'm getting him ones with a smaller iris soon!

Other than that, I'd say he's pretty cute :XD:

      [IMG] [IMG]

      • x 5
    24. That's very different looking. And I see you got the red eyebrows as well! But he's still very cute even like this :)

In my case I expected to get the same faceup as in the promos, because I bought the fullset with the wig and outfit! But I luckily grew to really love my Rong You as a fiery ginger, and am thinking of sending him to get a different kind of ginger faceup, one that is very heavilly freckled, once I have the chance to do so.

I remember many years ago I ordered an individual MNM order of an idol of mine. He too got red eybrows like that, and the faceup looked nothing like my idol. I wonder maybe red eyebrows like this is easier and takes less time to paint?!

      • x 1
    25. Oh wow, those really aren't alike! He's still super cute though! Did you get him on the 62 or 68 cm body?

      • x 1
    26. Oh right!! You were the one that happened to! That's great that you grew to love the gingerness lol! Mine's a shell of an oc for me the red brows are a nope lol! That's also so weird that so many dolls are getting red brows!!

    27. 68cm! He is the Xiao Bei who's supposed to be on the 62cm, but that body felt too MSDish if that makes sense. So since the neck sizes are the same, I got him on the 68cm body! However I don't know what hands they gave him. They are abnormally HUGE and almost match the ones in the promo pics for the 75cm body, however all of their bodies have hands with that extra wrist ball joint. These hands don't, so I have no idea where they came from ahahahah. They are beautiful though and I can't stop staring at them so I'm not too mad lolol

    28. Yes that were me XD If it is supposed to be an OC then I can see why the wrong faceup would be a problem. But it would be a problem either way, especially if you were expecting to get the same faceup as in the official images!

I had actually based part of my Rong You's character on the faceup in the official images, so I were a bit disappointed at first. But I love Rong You not only for the faceup he have in the images, so I think I would be able to love him in many different faceup styles as well.

Once I had a closer look at his face, more sides to add to his original background story quickly came to me :)

    29. Also I'm not sure if you can tell from my pictures, but his hands are HUGE. So beautiful, but huge. Through some digging I really think he was given hands for the 72cm body! I'm so torn because they are way prettier than the original hands for the 68cm body, but they really do look abnormally large in person.

    30. [IMG]Long alien fingers! by ManabuLi010, on Flickr

Huge hands you say :sweat They are beautifully sculpted but so large it look really off on my boy as well!

      Thelesthesia & Dragon Rong You

I did undress my Rong You yesterday just to see how I felt about the head and body proportions, and he does not look nearly as bad as I remembered it. But the problem for me is still that I feel that type of face does not belong on a body like that. It's just when I see very feminine, almost childlike face sculpts on big muscular bodies it look wrong to me.

But one of the main problems is also the kind of character my Rong You were always meant to be, and this body does not fit with that kind of character type.

My character are not supposed to be this tall and leggy, he were originally supposed to be a bit more smaller in comparison to my demon king 72 cm tall DF H Beilan. I have in mind a kind of background story, with some elements similar to Mo Dao Zu Shi and The Untamed mixed with some other fantasy ideas. Beilan is this big demon my Rong You encounter oneday. It's important that the size difference between these 2 characters are not too similar, so Rong You are definitely going to get a smaller body once I have the chance to.

Alice's Collections only offered Rong You on the 68 cm body. If I had only known that Legend Doll had the 62 cm body option available for him as well with the fullset, then I would have ordered from there!

My plans now is to later order 62 cm Xiao Bei as soon as I'm able to and swap heads when he arrive. When I have no idea yet as I have some other non-hobby things around the house to tend to at the moment.

    31. Oh!! So it looks like we both got those hands for the 68cm body. Interesting, because they don't match the ones from the body promo pictures

    32. From the images I took it looks like long fingered alien hands XD Are adult hands supposed to be able to cover the entire face, because mine doesn't! The tip of my midle finger got some cm to go before it reaches my hairline.

Looking at both the 68 and 72 cm body, I feel that neither of the hands shown in the images is what I got!

I tried to see if Alice's Collections or Legend Doll sold separate hands, but they didn't. Alice's Collections sells some jointed hands though that look very nice. Maybe I'll get those for the 68 cm body when I order the new body for my Rong You later.

    33. I have a new 74cm body and a 68cm. The 74cm is really huge, also his hands, but they don't look too large for the body.
Here is a picture of both next together (both are in light tan - the smaller one is from 2018, the large one arrived a few weeks ago):

I once painted a 72cm boy in dark tan for a friend some years ago (before 2018), her is a picture if you are interested (sorry for the bad quality):

    34. Update on the hands! I emailed acbjd who contacted TD for me, and apparently those large hands are the new standard hands for the 68cm body. They must be so new though that they haven't updated the photos

      • x 1
    35. Large hands definitely look good on most dolls. The dolls in your pictures look great this way :)

But personaly I feel that if a face sculpt is very feminine, or also even a bit child like, it fit better with less huge manly hands, and also better on a smaller type of body. Big hands are great on the right sculpt and character, but with my Rong You, in his background character story he's not tall and leggy like this. He's supposed to be shorter than my Doll Family H .Beilan.

      OK, I see!

I realize I have some hand preferences when it comes to dolls. Pretty much my whole life in this hobby I've had dolls that had hands that were sculpted a bit more realistic looking. I'm not talking about the size of the hands, but the shape! Some years back I got a DZ Devon on the 62 cm body. His hands are not big man hands, it's the right size for his body. But it were my first encounter with, "uh, I don't like these hans so much". I got the same kind of alien or long thin anime fingered hands feeling from them. And now I see that TD and DF H have this kind of hands too, but in the large man hands size. I guess some companies go for the alien, anime kind of hand aesthetic.

I like the hands sculpted by Iplehouse, Rainman, Luts, Dream of Doll, and my Dollmore Kid hands better. Most my dolls are from these companies. At least the dolls I have from these companies don't have the kind of hands I'm not to fond of. Idk, how all their sculpts are. But it also really depends on the character whether I like it or not, as my gray skin DollZone Carter got thin alien fingers too, but for him I don't mind. He's a strange character that fit these kinds of hands!

    36. Does anyone have a ZheBie with a non company faceup? His sculpt is perfect, but I need a softer look for my character.

    37. does anyone own a mochen sculp? i am interested in him but have never seen a owner photo so it's hard to know what he really looks like.

    38. Happy to share that my Xiao Bei came in yesterday! I missed the shipping email, so it was a big surprise since I paid for him in… July, I believe? Wasn’t expecting him until like December. His head is smaller than I thought, so will need to look for a new wig. The faceup is also different from promos, definitely a lot more red/pink. Wondering why, it’s clearly more brown/gray toned in the photos. Doubt that was a filter. But he’s still cute! I will post photos once I take some in decent quality. And yes, the body came with the extra parts. Made me laugh so hard

    40. Congrats :) Same with me, I were surprized by the size of the head. I thought it would be a bit bigger. I don't mind the size, but personally I want to place him on a smaller body. His character were meant to be around the 63cm size anyways. But I bought my Rong You on the 68cm body because I thought that were the only option. Turns out I could have ordered Rong You on the 62cm body had I only ordered from Legend Doll!

    41. Thank you!! Rong You is so beautiful. But I'm curious how he looks like on a 68 cm body? I got the 62 cm Xiao Bei, so you can imagine his head is even smaller. I feel like the 68 head on a 62 cm body would be perfect!!! But I'm also a bit influenced by my first BJD doll who has a bigger head and overall slightly different proportions. If TD was my first, I probably be surprised by a bigger head lol

    42. Looking forward to seeing photos as a fellow Xiao Bei owner!! Shipping time was quick as well for me, and yeah I got a faceup that looks nothing like the photos. However, I don't find the head to be terribly small! And I got the 62cm head on the 68cm body! I have more photos of him and his body on my instagram @forestbjd if that helps too!

    43. I can help with the 68 cm body :) Seeing my Rong You like this, there's nothing that look wrong with the head and body proportions, other than the head still look wrong because the body is so muscular and masculine, while the head is is completely the opposite of that. It just look a bit odd I think :sweat

But when he's in his hanfu outfit he feels like a tower to me :sweat

      Rong You

I'm also used to a bit larger heads. I also started out with a really large head back in the beginning of my hobby. A Dream of Doll, DOI - Luke. But most of all with Rong you, he were meant to be a smaller built character the size that you bougt your doll in. I just did not think I could order Rong You on a smaller body, and I wanted him even if it meant having to get him a smaller body later!

    44. I fell in love with one of the older (and smaller) telethesia boy dolls, Alcate and am currently in the process of saving up to buy him before Oct 31.
I can’t seem to find any photos other than hishis stock ones and searching here Didn’t turn up anything. Can anyone help?

    45. Does anyone have a doll in Dark Tan? I've seen the option and wonder what it looks like!

    46. Coming back with the makeup close up photos! (Poor guy also managed to take a little fall after I took these and sustained some layering damage on his nose. I'm in the process of fixing it because it wasn't too bad, but still went through all stages of grief...lesson learned). Either way, here you go:

    47. For those of you with the 62/68 cm Xiao Bei, in pictures it looks like his mouth is slightly open--does he have teeth showing or not? I can't quite tell from any of the pictures i see of him, either painted or blank ><

    48. No teeth showing! Here's a pic of mine which is the 62cm Xiao Bei head on the 68cm body! He also has the supposed "company faceup" which looks drastically different from the promos. This is his wig from the promos as well!

    50. I wasn't supposed to take pics of this doll until the faceup is done, but my self-control went out the window when I saw the result of a trial styling. Sculpt is Xiao Bei (Age of 21 version), on the LoongSoul B-B73-02 body. I was worried the hybrid would not work out, but surprisingly, the fit/mobility was good, and the proportions were even better than the rather petite LS ZhuZhao head that's sharing the body.

    51. That is an incredible sculpt :love It is actually much appreciated to see unpainted faces. I always want to know what a face sculpt actually look like underneat all that paint in the official images, before deciding to buy a doll myself. They look so realistic while unpainted, and you get to see the sculpted details more clearly. A blank face gives room for imagination, so I always like these blank face images :3nodding:

    52. He's lovely. Thanks for this, I recently discovered that T&D will sell heads only with face ups, and I too ordered Xiao Bei-21. In my case I am interested in putting him on a female Iplehouse SiD body, not sure if the proportions will be right.

    53. @manabusama I have to agree, there are some things you'd only notice if the sculpt is blank. And Xiao Bei-21 is really nice-looking even if unpainted! The sculpting on his teeth is really detailed too, although the faceup artist may be in for a challenge to get those tiny sections properly painted.

@Ardent I have a female Iplehouse SID that is due to arrive in a month or two, but I do have other similarly proportioned female bodies (specifically the Impldoll Starwoman MGB). The neck measurements differ from Iplehouse's, but would you like me to try putting Xiao Bei on the Impldoll Starwoman MGB just to see how it may look?

    54. If you have the time that would be suuuuper kind of you! ❤️

    55. @Ardent Here ya go!

T&D Xiao Bei-21 on the Starwoman MGB (short-shoulder ed)

      Some notes:
      - On the Impldoll Starwoman MGB, Xiao Bei-21 stands at 66cm on flat feet. If you smack on the heeled feet and add killer heels (like the one my Iplehouse Scarlet hybrid is using on the right), you could potentially reach 71cm height.
      - The Impldoll body has 9cm neck circumference (Xiao Bei-21 has REALLY good mobility on it), but Iplehouse bodies have mushroom necks, so an SID/T&D hybrid may need subtractive modding on the body to work.
      - Shoulder width is 14cm -- Xiao Bei-21 looks proportionate on that width. The SID has shorter shoulders, so dunno if the EID woman would be a better fit in that regard.

    56. I love the TD sculpts and have been debating maybe adding another to my collection once I get the dolls on my definitely-to-buy list. I currently have 3 full TD Dolls and 2 hybrids. 2 FeiHuaDeng girls named Willow and Zaria, 1 Long TianQi named Drow, 1 Cheng named Mort (from before Telesthesia merged with Dragondoll) on an IoS Class80 body, and a TD 60cm girl body hybrid with a DiM Bellosse head named Celine.

I really need to take more pictures of Drow and Mort, Mort has been in my collection the longest as I got him from The Junky Spot black friday sale back in 2011. He was old stock from 2009 according to his CoA, I barely paid $300 for him back then with faceup. I wiped the faceup pretty quickly as it kinda made him look like a Vulcan drag queen. Nothing against Vulcans, Drag Queens, or even Vulcan drag queens, but Mort simply isn't one. If anyone would like to see an old picture of him, just let me know, I should be able to dig one up!

    57. Wow, thank you SO much! I think he/she looks fantastic, very proportional to me. Possibly the SID body will be too small or the neck will not work. He says he is for a 10.5 cm neck so I was hopeful. I do have other, larger or taller female bodies to work with, I am particularly thinking about the Classy65F body that should ship from IOS in the next few months. We shall see.. thank you again!

    58. *scuttles in* Hi I was wondering if anyone has the YanXi 68cm boy ideally with his face-up? I'm also curious if they would body blush him like the promo pictures because those tattoos are so cool.

    59. Has anyone had experience with their Taobao store or through the 甜酒 dealer? I've been eyeing one of their dolls for a few months now and the sculpt that I want is only available at certain times through their official store but the listing is always available through their dealer. The price is also lower through their dealer, but I'm beginning to feel a little uneasy about the discrepancy in availability and prices, even if the dealer is very reputable.

    60. You're welcome, and just a quick note: the LoongSoul body that my Xiao Bei-21 will be using has 10.5cm neck circumference and it still works a treat. What I was worried about Iplehouse is the shape of the neck (which makes them rather tricky to hybrid), but he may be able to use it, provided he is not bobble-headed on the SID.
