My fullset Rong You have been shipped

 

I'm a bit disappointed with my Rong You... Outfit is beautiful and well made. Didn't come with shoes though, something I would expect in a fullset doll. But his face-up does not look anything like in the pictures. I feel like I'm looking at an entierly different doll!

When I see him irl though it make me wonder if it really is the same sculpt that I got. It is, but wow how different he feels when I see him in front of me now. That can't be the same face-up as I saw when I ordered him! I got a ginger with a dark wig, the eyes makes him feel different too. And the wig does not look as good as in the pictures. It looks nothing like in the pictures

Don't get me wrong, I really love ginger characters, especially very heavy freckled ones But I fell in love with how he looked in the official pictures, and my Rong You, he does not feel the same.

I still love my Rong You. He's staying and I do got plans for this guy. But I most likely later someday will have to send the head off for a face-up that will make him feel more like he should have looked. Maybe I'll also get him another ancient style dark brown wig.

 

Oh wow, that is a completely different vibe than his promo pictures. I can understand the wig needing styling, they usually do after being pulled out of the packaging, but the faceup is completely different.

 

I tied something around his head, leaving it there until tomorrow. And hopefully then the bangs will look a bit better. I'll see if I find some other eyes for him later, hopefully that will help a bit too.

Yeah, the face-up is not even close to what it is in the pictures! I found that quite odd as I've never ordered a doll with a face-up where they did not look the same as in the pictures.

I will not have the chance to send him off for a face-up for a while, probably, as I got so many doll things to get done on my list. But meanwhile I'm curious if I could find him a ginger colored ancient styled wig. Just for the curiousity, I'm wondering how he would look. And what if I had him really freckled too later some time! Just a thought, trying to turn a disappointment into something good. I do still love my boy

 

Where did you order him from? You might be able to get the shoes at the very least if you contact them and let them know you didn't get any.
I wonder if the faceup is different because some companies will have a "standard" faceup and some will have a different option for the one in the pictures, but usually that's specified somewhere in the listing. Because that doesn't look anything like the images! That's so frustrating :/

 

I ordered from Alice's Collections. I'm not actually sure if these ancient style limited dolls comes with shoes. It said nothing about either clothes or shoes in the description.

It is possible to order ancient style shoes from other stores though. I've seen some also on Aliexpress.

It was only one face-up listed that I could choose. Any other limited dolls I've ordered from other companies, I always got exactly the face-up from the images. Yes it is very frustrating, because I fell in love with this doll but got something that does not even in the slightest resemble the doll I fell for.

I can't at the moment, but eventually he'll be sent off to get his face painted right!

A little bit of improvement with some new eyes. Not the color I want to go for but it were what I had available. And at least if fit the red brows better and and the rest of his outfit too, I guess. Don't mind his messy hair I'm still trying to get his bangs better in place.

 

I wonder if the wrong faceup is a one time fluke? Or if all telesthesia dolls from alices collections will get just a random faceup? I've been waiting to buy Xiao Bei from there for almost a year now (other doll plans kept getting in the way lol) and I was planning to get him with his wig and faceup, not the clothes. He'll be the first original character that I shell with a faceup not done by me because I just loved it so much! Now I'm a bit nervous that his faceup will be different too!

So I guess anyone else who's ever gotten a telesthesia fullset/faceup from alices collections, how have yours been?

 

I have no idea what went wrong, but I do recall that I have not had any face-up problems before with Alice's Collections. My Doll Zone gray skin Carter seem to have the right face-up at least. A very nicely done face-up.


Xiao Bei is really pretty, so I hope you get the right face-up, it would be frustrating for you as well if you do not get what you wanted. Crossing fingers it were just I who had bad luck with this one.

 

If you ordered the full set, it should have come with everything pictured. I'd assume that includes shoes, unless it specifically shows him without shoes. It looks like he came with other accessories though, so I'd think shoes would be part of the full outfit. It could be worth asking at least.

 

The images did not show his feet, so I really don't know about shoes. But yes it is worth asking.

 

Quick question, does anybody know of the TD light tan is a passable match to Switch Mocha Brown?

 

I’ve just ordered a Xiao Bei on layaway. I had actually been planning to get a ringdoll and happened to come across someone mentioning Telesthesia dolls and clicked out of curiosity and Xiao Bei literally jumped off the page at me and said “buy me!” Well who am I to argue with such a beautiful man. He’s so pretty. And he will fit the kpop vibe I plan for him. The ringdoll ones were traditional costume types and although they’re gorgeous I feel as if I wouldn’t interact with them much. I want a doll to dress and pose and play with. I don’t actually have any bjd’s yet. I just finished paying off a Granado Lucent 32cm but I knew I wanted a large doll at some point too. I’m so glad layaway is an option ☺️ I’m so excited to get him. Does anyone here have one yet or still waiting? I didn’t even check to see when he was released lol. I’ve ordered him with jointed hands. Does anyone have any photos of them in real life?

 

Did you get the 62 cm Xiao Bei or the 75 cm older one? They're both gorgeous! I've been eyeing the 62 cm one as a possible base for a custom I want to make in the future.

I'm not sure how long the 62 cm one has been out, but it's a bit too soon for anyone to have received the 75 cm one yet as he's fairly new.

 

I have Xiao Bei on the way as well!! Same thing with me he stood out so much from all of the other dolls!! If I'm remembering correctly I think he (the 62 cm one, although I got him on the 68cm body) was released in October 2021, but I could be wrong. That should give loads of time for him to arrive to people so maybe he just wasn't a popular sculpt? I've been searching all over the internet for months and I still haven't found any owner photos or unboxings at all. This will be the first doll that I've purchased by the promo pics alone so I'm hoping I love him in person too! Especially since I got him with the wig and faceup!

 

Oh he’s the 75cm! I didn’t know there was an older one. Are they significantly different other than the size ?

 

Yeah the face molds are different! the 75 cm one is the "adult" version of the 62 cm character

 

Yay!! I got him with the wig and faceup too!! I was looking on YouTube and Instagram and haven’t found anything. I’m not great at unboxings but I’ll definitely be trying to record one when I get him. I’m so excited!

I wonder if Telesthesia dolls just aren't that popular in general. I've had a really hard time finding owner pics of almost any of their dolls! If they aren't it's a shame because they're really pretty!

It’s ok. The 75cm one appeals to me more but the 62 version is really pretty too! Mind you on looking around at the 70cm ones I found another one I like-Junxian.
So I can see me getting him at some point too. oh dear. And I thought I would just get one doll and be happy.

I'd say, TD aren't as popular as other Chinese companies but they have their own following, at least in China. They share lots of owner pics on their weibo.

I’m on a phone using safari otherwise I would. My laptop isn’t the greatest and I gave it to my son for his school work so I just use my phone for everything these days.

 

He was a limited edition doll, just like Dan Taiye. I think he was also sold on Alice's Collections but his page was deleted after the selling period was over. Weirdly enough, they still have sales pages for limited TD dolls on Taobao. Maybe some dealers there have some in stock?

 

I don’t suppose you know what “Xiao Bei” is in Chinese characters do you? I know dolls can change drastically with different eyes and wigs and I can’t visualise so it sometimes makes it difficult for me to know if it’s the same doll ( does that sound stupid?). Especially if I’m comparing promo photos to real life ones.

 

I don't know Chinese, but the characters for both 62 cm and 75 cm Xiao Bei are the same. The dictionary I'm using says it means "Little North", but I wonder if it has any significance in Chinese.

And it's not weird at all. I sometimes have a hard time recognising some sculpts. Although, there are companies that have such distinctive sculpts that it's hard to not recognise them. As for Xiao Bei, his older version has smaller eyes and his mouth is more open.

 

I'm not sure what character they used for Xiao, but i have seen his name get translated as little north, so the character used for 'Bei' should be one that means north. Google translate suggests these 小北 for "little north"

So Alice’s Collections have said I can request a custom faceup and they’ll see if it’s possible. Do you think something like the first 2 pics on the photo will work or should I just stick with the company one? I can’t picture it in my head so I don’t know if it’ll look good or not. Honestly it’s such a pain not being able to visualise. Makes it so hard to plan outfits and hairstyles for myself let alone other people. If I can’t see it, it’s like it doesn’t exist. Congrats on your order! I own 3 TD Dolls (Long TianQi boy and 2 FeiHuaDeng girls), and 1 from before they bought DragonDoll (Cheng). I did not intend to have FeiHuaDeng twice, but due to a unique situation got now twins (they are styled differently) . I named them Zaria and Willow. The Long TianQi is named Drow, and Cheng, my oldest from 2009, is named Mort.

@Blubell I hope they let you customize the Faceup, I usually do my own so all of mine have faceups done by my own hand. I they are wonderful dolls and I really love their posing too. Mort is a hybrid on an IOS Class80 body, and even though he’s meant for a 72cm body originally, he looks great in the taller one.

 

I would love to see photos of your dolls. I don’t have any plans to get girls yet but one day I will. Do you have any posing pics at all?

 

I think it will be helpful for whatever artist does the faceup if you can specify what you like about those photos and what you're going for. If you want the doll to look like that specific singer, then not likely possible, simply due to the constraints of the face mold. The face shapes aren't the same and the features themselves won't match. So they could make a very natural looking face up with pink eye shadow like the makeup the person in those pictures has, but it's not going to look like them. The more information you can provide an artist, the higher the chances of getting something you like.

 

Oh no I know they won’t look alike I just like the natural Korean makeup look. I just wondered if the colours would match. I like subtle makeup on people but I’m not sure of dolls need more dramatic makeup to look good.

 

I’m joining the Xiao Bei club, I’ve been eyeing the 62 cm one. He’s so beautiful but I’m a little bit worried ordering without seeing any real life pictures. And I love the company faceup specifically, hopefully if it will look very close to the promos…

Plenty of dolls have pretty natural looks! What your dolls "need" to look good is entirely up to you and your personal tastes!

 

You can tell I’m a newbie can’t you? Lol. I just wondered if it was like stage makeup or if natural makeup would show on a doll. That sounds stupid now I think about it. I’m not talented enough to do my own faceup ( I can’t even do my own makeup well so I never bother ). I don’t want to send him off as soon as I get him for a faceup either. I’ve sent the photo references via email anyway and will see what they say.

 

Exactly!! I loveeeee his faceup so I ordered him with it, but I'm so worried that it'll look different. If so, I'll probably try to do it myself or send him to an artist.

I mean originally Wei Yue Jin sp (Limited) was released in 2019. But I was able to order my Wei Yue Jin sp around the beginning of 2021 via Clover-Singing. TD sold their last dolls through it's Taobao shop.

And I'm also in favor of the TD dolls getting more love and attention.

Thank you! Entertainingly enough, Mort is taller. In his boots Drow is at about 75cm in height, not sure how he managed that as he’s only supposed to be around 72cm…


See what I mean? Guy on the left is 71cm, Mort in the middle is 81cm with shoes, and then Drow on the right just won’t let me pin down his height!

Omg 81cm???? That’s awesome!! Wow how heavy is he?

 

He weighs about 4kg so he’s not easy to lug around. His height is mostly in his legs though! I had to get custom pants made for him.

Thank you, I was happy to share!! I love my big boys and girls a lot. I'm primarily an SD and taller collector, but I also love my YoSD sized dolls too. Mort is and will remain my tallest as I don't want to go bigger than him. I used to want to stick him on a 75cm body, as the character is tall as all get out, but then a local collector was selling an IoS Class80 body for pick up and let me try his head on it. I fell in love with the additional height and walked home with the box the same day!

 

I got my Telesthesia Yun Minglin a few days ago, and wanted to share pictures. He is my 3rd doll from Telesthesia now, my first was a Quing Niu Sheng in light tan. Compared to Quing he is so much taller!! I have ordered my new boy on the slimmer and shorter body - 74cm instead of the Strong 75cm body which was default for Yun. And he is still a giant! He almost as large as my Spiritdoll Dolce 80cm, stands like a rock next to my tallest dolls (Dollmore Trinity, Parabox Otohime and Spiritdoll Dolce).

He arrived with a doll stand (but I cannot trust this one because the saddle seems so small and light for this huge man).
The light tan seems a bit more lighter compared to Quing but it looks so healthy and wonderful.
Like the smaller Quing Niu Sheng (72cm) he came with a bag of men parts, but those are so large, no idea who would use them (as long as my fingers!)

He is truly stunning, congrats on his arrival!! I've been debating getting another TD Doll but in dark tan, I just don't know who yet and it is a super low priority to me currently (I got two characters/dolls left to get on my planned list, after that I will just go with the flow).

I don't think they are quite accurate with their measurements, since my 72cm Long TianQi definitely seems taller than that. His manbits are quite mighty too. Out of my 4 bodies with magentic peens his I think are the biggest. My 75cm Loongsoul Black Dragon has the smallest of the bunch.

For anyone wondering/curious/really interested in Weiyuejin, Clover-Singing actually still has a listing up for him (and not a sold out one from the looks of it).

TD does have some very lovely ladies, gents, etc. but—being a character-specific collector—haven't seen a head that really fits with any of my OCs. I do have a couple of their bodies, the 68cm male and the 65cm female, and they do have a good range for posing. Definitely a major improvement with the 65cm I used to hybrid my Iplehouse girl onto over her original body.

 

Ooh how do you like the 68cm male body? I’m getting my Xaio Bei (originally on the 62cm body) on that one and I’ve wondered about how it poses!

 

All these discussions made me want to finish my Dan Taiye's face-up, so I decided to take a quick pic of him and tweak it a bit to see what he'll look like when I finally get to draw his eyelashes and eyebrows. I was going for a stern kind of face but guess he'll be a cute boy insteeead... (?) maybeee.

 

Ahh if only i didn't already have a couple dolls to finish paying for I'd be sorely tempted to buy him!
