Oh gosh, are the faceups from Telesthesia always like this?? from heaven to earth is the comparison between the promo pictures and the one in real life, and I was relieved that they always offered faceups they looked so sober in the photos so I though it won't be so hard to have it just like the pictures, guess not...
I think they are always like this. I've seen multiple people now post photos of Telesthesia dolls with weird faceups like these. I'm definitely removing mine this month and redoing it myself
Another reference picture, this time of resin colors. Originally posted in the Granado resin colors reference subforum, but because it features almost all my pale-skinned resin samples (including T&D), I'm also sharing this here. NP and NY Resin Comparisons by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr EDIT: Listing the various company resins here so the comparison photo will show up when using the search bar. DF-H (Doll Family H), LoongSoul, Iplehouse, Charm Doll, Granado, Telesthesia & Dragon
My junxian’s company face up wasn’t that bad but I got him in 2021 so maybe the artist changed, the recent ones really have been all over the place..
I know this is from like a year ago, but did you ever do that hybrid? Or anyone else know if TD matches LS? I have both white and normal skin Loong Soul bodies and I know they tend to run lighter than darker. But I don’t have any TD resin as of yet (ordered a body from TD recently but to match Soom Tawny). I might just buy the TD head and if it matches buy the Loong Soul body. TD might be able to color match too I should email Alice and ask, thought of that just now lol. EDIT —- NVM I see the color comparison above THANK YOU @AntarelNefertili! (lol I searched TD & LS instead of looking in the thread )
No biggie! I'll also edit the post to include the various company resins just so the comparison photo will show up when using the search bar. Also, my Xiao Bei-21 is on the 73cm LoongSoul body, and it's a really good match in terms of proportion.
@AntarelNefertili Thank you!! Just to confirm your boy has a 10.5cm neck? I noticed theres 10.5cm and 12cm neck versions of a lot of their dolls.
@RebelViva Yep, my LS body has a 10.5cm neck. I bought it as a full doll with one of the newer, more petite heads (hence the smaller neck size).
You’ll be happy to know, he did not skip leg day Photo courtesy of Alice’s Collections where you can already order him
Wow the new body is huge. Massive. Massive I could never picture myself buying somethi-........ *gets a good look at the new boy, Ah Fu* oh nooo, he's hot!!! OMG there is something in him that reminds me of the super beeffy OC that Hotoku (@analu_DT3) draws as a servant/bodyguard in one of their recurrent series/illustrations... I want him now
@NuttyRojita My first thought when I saw the body was "Is that you Snow Tiger?!" from the Full Volume manhwa. But, yeah kind of looks like Hotoku's drawings as well.
That's... Big! And the veins on the lower part of the trunk look so realistic. 85cm is too tall for me, but he's definitely gorgeous
We are eating good tonight I feel like telesthesiadoll has been killing it with the boys lately. Reminds me that the leopard boys were also cute.
85 cm?! Thank god his face is a miss for me, because his body is just my type… I wonder if they’ll ever modify their 75 cm body to be more like this one.
hahahahahaha yeesss totally looks like Beom from Full Volume hahaha, I really want him god, but he is so big, at least is not a limited item right? with TD their doll doesn't seem to be, gosh I really want him @Niel That's something I would appreciate since 75cm sound more reasonable to me, if they do this body and this face for the 75cm scale, I would gladly buy it.
Telesthesia doll has a resin match service. So if the body is sold separately, any BJD head will do provided it's large enough to look good. I was interested in the SD75 strong body because I wanted to make an hybrid with it, but now also this one has my attention!
While the new body is interesting, it's a hard pass for me. My 75cm guy (from another company, not T&D) is already a huge handful as is, and who knows how all the accumulated weight of resin will affect the posing. Not to mention the difficulty of finding to-scale heads if you go the hybrid route. I can see how all that heft will appeal to those who need it, tho!
What a MAN. While not something I'm looking for right now but it's nice to have the variety. Maybe some day a character with this body type will be exactly what I'm looking for
Those tiddies!! I love his face it reminds me of Lemoon heads perial or licit. But thankfully I have no use for him at 85cm. I love big himbo boys though so if they make one a 75cm size then I will be interested. Would be a good body for Toji (I'm shelling alot of JJK characters lol). Also thank you for confirming @AntarelNefertili , appreciate all the help!
I don't like the chest... The 2D body is fine, but this is too much for me, My eyes can't handle this much, looks like balloons about to burst My doll size limit is at 75cm. I get it's trending now, but male dolls just seem to go bigger and bigger, and more and more hulk like. I worry soon they'll really burst like an over inflated balloon! Maybe it's just me who just can't quite get on board with the larger is better. It feels almost like a culture shock, only that this is dolls. I guess I really struggle to get used to suddenly everything goes larger and larger
Ahaha, I don't mind seeing muscular bodies for variety (have yet to see a muscle girl I like), but @manabusama you are not alone with being at two minds with the "bigger is better" trend. Hopefully it poses as good as the photos, because that's a huge make or break for me. Apart from difficulty in finding pre-made clothes and shoes, you can only get so heavy before the weight overcomes the string tension. I've seen two Dollmore Trinities at a doll meet once, and even sitting needed careful support lest they tumble over.
I don't mind muscle bodies XD The T&D 75cm body look great! But the 85cm one's chest were too much chest for me I guess that's how some bodybuilders end up looking, but whenever I see a chest like that I can't get the mental image out of my head they are like chest balloons, and when it crosses a certain size it start feeling more like the dude have female boobs! The 2D Doll 83cm body is fine too, althought the size is still too tall for me. It at least got a bit more what I personally feel is ok for a body builder muscle man chest. But all that said, it's still going to be fun see owner pictures when it comes. Sometimes owner pictures is what it takes to change ones mind about something Never seen a Trinity or Lusion personally, but I can imagine they are both very large!
Yes, completely agreed! Another thing about having bulkier bodies is, don't they tend to be more limiting in terms of posability as well? I'm already struggling carrying my 70+cm doll boy around, I can't imagine 80+cm and above. I'm not a fan of this "bigger is better" trend. But I understand why they're doing this. There's only so much "new" body sculpts they can create within the 60-75cm body range, if they were to create something new that would pique the interest of BJD collectors, they could only go bigger and bulkier.
@Bubbleteaddict You would think the big size would limit them but The Voice dolls are bulky too and they are great posers. But I I do think that particular artist put in a lot more work to make sure the body was that way. They even come with silicone pads in the joints. Mine can lean back in heeled shoes and keep poses really well. I don't have any TD bodies yet (ordered the 74cm one back in November for my R.Dean head) so I don't have a bases of comparison just yet to say what kind of posers they are or if the construction is similar to The Voice to work for bigger models. But at least I can say it's possible for big muscly boys to be more flexible and not stiff. I guess we will have to wait on owner photos/reviews to see how the 85cm body turns out.
Posing has more to do with balancing the weight and gravity, and positions of elastic through the channels as well as careful mechanics for joints. Not much to do with size. I have small and large dolls that pose well and small and large dolls that pose terribly. I like the posing of the 74cm body btw.
Yea, a well-engineered body will outdo a lighter one, if done properly. For the record, I have a hefty guy from another company (Granado), and he strikes a good balance between form and function. Then again, he came with silicone kips, which I later changed up to full sueding because I got annoyed with repeatedly retrieving wayward kips from inside joint channels. Speaking of silicone kips, if one looks at the 85cm body pics in ACBJD, one will notice that T&D added them to the shoulder sockets. Wonder if they'll send those in with every order.
When the body arrives please show us how it looks that R.Dean head I'm very curious because it really stressed me thinking that the only match would be a ID70-ID75 body, And if my favorite heads go on sale again, I would love to have an alternate body in mind
Will do! T&D are very nice, I bought it on TaoBao through Bhiner. They knew I was matching another artists head so they wanted pictures etc and wanted to know neck sizes so they could make sure it would be a good match. I'm really excited to get him! Will be sure to spam pics!
Rong You by ManabuLi010, on Flickr My Rong You is moving closer to getting complete. He got his new hair and hanfu outfit, but am currently on a temporary DZ 62cm body, until I'm able to order his T&D 62cm body. He's in normal pink, but DZ's normal pink is a bit more yellow in tone, but that may very well also be it have yellowed since I bought that body back in 2018. Oneday he'll get a more boyish ginger faceup and be heavilly freckled from head to toe
Can anyone confirm how their stable their resin color batches are for either of their normal resin colors? I’m debating grabbing a couple heads first before committing to bodies later.
I think my Telesthesia boy is easily the softest/smoothest resin doll in my collection. He's like holding a cloud. He poses really nicely too, makes me want another one. And that new boy Ah Fu, that really big 75cm guy, I definitely want him someday as I am a fan of big dolls.
Anybody gonna get the new guy Poet Hai Gu. I think he’s so nice…but I can’t decide if I’m gonna get the company face up. It looks so good in photos, but I wonder if it will look the same.
I saw photos of a Telesthesia doll with a default face-up recently and it only looks like the promo photos if you squint. It’s not very detailed either. So I think TD either heavily photoshops their promo photos or does a different face-up for the shoots. The promos are quite misleading…
I was afraid of that…I’ve never gotten a company face up by them,so I haven’t seen it in person. But I have seen some photos by other people that didn’t look very good.
if anyone owns a 62cm male and 74-75cm body would you be able to post some comparison photos? i feel like 68cm would be to tall for my shorter character but i fear 62cm is going to be too short
I don't have the 74-75cm body but I do have the 68cm body vs the 62cm DZ. And just between those 2 you can see there's quite the size differenze! Dollzone 63cm body and Telesthesia & Dragon 68cm with the head by ManabuLi010, on Flickr
@manabusama thanks for the reference! that size difference isn't actually to dramatic to me, my characters are supposed to be 5'3 and 6'6 so in real life it would be a pretty massive height difference but i worry in doll scale it would look to bizarre
I've never had a doll in the 74-75cm range. I do plan to get one eventually, but that will be a Grand Senior Delf Mars. I just thought that since you mentioned the 68cm body, at least I have that and can show the difference between it and a 62cm body. To me at least it is a bit big in difference, but that's just me not being used to anything larger than 70cm XD But I too am just as curious as you what a 62cm body will look next to a 74-75cm body! Hope somebody have som images to show
Not A telesthesia body….but I have a 65cm switch body and a 75cm Soom body for comparison , I can get a photo for you when I get off work.
@Becca8249 I like that size difference a lot That's definitely a giant in comparison to the 68cm body and the 62cm body I got XD There's many character opportunities here with the size difference. Older brother, younger brother. A giant, a human species of much smaller size. The smaller one could also be a non-human character. Or the larger a big demon king! Can't wait to the day I get to see what it's like for myself, to have a doll of that big size
I love having big size differences in my collection. Its like you say,it opens up a lot of different character options.! I have 4 big guys over 70cm and I LOVE that size the best.
When Luts itroduced their GSDF I were for some time a bit scared of the size, I weren't sure I could get used to them. I still don't own any 75cm doll, but images alone have made them start to grow on me I had to have a look at some of the T&D 75cm sculpts, and Chen Yu he'd fit perfect into any character inspired by Mo Dao Zu Shi
that is insanely helpful thank you so much, the height difference is massive but the proportions don't look to bad and i have seen actual human adults with just as big height gaps before so it's not completely unrealistic! my short boy is a lil demon anyway so it doesn't need to be super realistic i guess
I love Chen Yu…had my eye on him for a little while, but T&D just released the new guy poet Hai Gu. And now I really want him
. No problem! I personally love having so many different sizes in my collection. I think as long as the dolls are still 1/3 scale they work together, and give you lots of character options
Hai Gu is pretty cool too I know just how hard this doll hobby can be, it's like being in a candy store I tend to fall for dolls that got ancient Chinese style, so when I see Chen Yu my mind goes, "Lan Zhan"
Thank you! The height difference is really helpful to see! I was able to handle one IRL fairly recently at a local meetup, but I was blown away with the posing abilities of the Telesthesia bodies. I need so many for my MXTX dolls.
After months of thinking if I should send out my Xiao Bei-21 to a faceup artist, I decided to do his faceup myself so I could practice. I realized too late that my emergency dollie eyelashes were unusable, so he doesn't have any attached at the moment. Genderbent Adhara by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Let's see if I can remember how to do this. I very rarely post photos and always forget how. Yesterday my Telesthesia and Dragon dark tan Xiao Bei came in. TD dark tan Xiao Bei
