Found this article about dollhouses made from discarded suitcases. Imagine being able to pack your doll and all their stuff in their own home for moving or storage! https://www.messynessychic.com/2017...-check-out-these-vintage-suitcase-dollhouses/
Those all look pretty awesome, but I would worry about the weight issues not to mention everything has to be glued down. Still would not mind having one for photo shoots.
Ermahgerd I love this. We have some old suitcases that are in too poor of shape to be used for travel. This is a perfect upcycling idea. Thank you for sharing!
Volks made a product that has the same idea, though how sturdy it is I am unsure. It was called the Dollfie Spring Box. Basically they take those cardboard fancy boxes, sell it to you with a paper background you have to install yourself (I'm still flattening mine), and 2 decor items you can glue in/use along with a free wig. They sold them based on size so I got the SD sized one. The idea is you can place your dolls inside it to have a season in a Japanese style garden with fake cherry blossoms. Since I'm still in the process of putting it together, I am not sure how well it will work as a diorama/storage.
I've got a couple of "carbon fiber" suitcases the DH bought without checking ratings...yes they are light but the handles popped off after only a couple trips and surprise surprise, when I tried to redeem the guarantee, the manufacturer had gone out of business. So useless for a trip but with removable exterior window frames (in case I have to do more than walk them across a room) I think they'd make great SD roomlets.
Ahh, love this idea! People sell old suitcases second hand all the time but they're never very good for modern travel and eventually get thrown out anyway (once you wheel you never want to unwheel I guess) - maybe I'll relieve someone from their burden for my 1/4s hmm
So cute! I used to have a little paperboard suitcase style box that I made into a room-box for my tiny Pukpuki to travel with. I need to get it out and fix it up. The interior items packed away into a little wooden chest and then she fit into her bed wrapped in fleece, and some loose fleece padded the inside. Then I could get it all out again when I set it up somewhere.
