☆~~ Granado Doll Discussion Part 17 ~~☆

Feb 2, 2018

    1. Yes. And perhaps the seller sold it at a lower price due to the fact that its second hand I guess? And thank youuuu, i cant wait to customize him to my own liking. He's only my 2nd bjd afterall!

    2. Well my package started off strong then I got kind of discouraged — but in the end I’m still happy with the contents. :)

It was a 3lb package, and inside were 2 Vindoll heads (two of my fave sculpts, actually), 6 pairs of eyes (though only 4 different colors), ... AND A MOTHERF-ING RESIN SKATEBOARD Y’ALL

      https://flic.kr/p/2hinYZD

I’ll admit that I would rather have had 1 resin head instead of 2 Vindoll ones, seeing as I used to own Vindoll (it was my first BJD actually lol, back when they first came out) but sold it due to various reasons. I also used to own one of the sculpts I got, albeit in resin (the V-08 Loki head). Since what I was most hoping for in my bag was a V-07 head, it was borderline maddening to get V-08 instead.

But I will admit, I am in LUST with this skateboard. It is a really solid piece of resin, well made, and I love skateboards as accessories for my boys. So getting this helped ease some of the heartache at not getting any resin heads.

      https://flic.kr/p/2hiqKek

The sculpts I got are still super interesting, though — seeing as I don’t think these two have been released for Vindoll yet...

    3. I think you got my package by mistake LOL

Congrats! You got so many awesome stuff. all I got was two resin heads and 99% of my collection is vinyl. I only have one floating resin head. I'm more into Vindolls I have five :p

    4. Lol I’m sorry!! I think I had a defective Vindoll from that very first batch of them, and that turned me off of what is honestly a great concept. They’ve also expanded the sculpt options since then and that helps!

If you can find me a V-07 Hannibal head maybe we can do a 3-way trade!

    5. Ooh wow. Galileo is a very lovely sculpt. He's got a very friendly-looking face. :)

    6. So exciting to see that the lucky bags are coming in. :dance
I hope that the trades go well and everyone eventually receives what they are hoping for.

I would have brought one myself (and I so wanted to) But I couldn't afford it. Ahh well, maybe next time.

    7. Congrats to everyone who has received their lucky bags! I should get mine tomorrow, and the continued wait is killing me. (It was supposed to have been last Friday, but local flooding delayed it.)

Does anyone know If UPS’s weight counts are usually accurate? According to their website, my package only weighs 1 pound. That doesn’t fill me with much hope, though I keep telling myself “Believe, Allie. Believe.”

    8. I hadn't thought of the flooding in Houston causing a delay in delivery, but that might be the reason it hasn't arrived yet.

    9. Good luck! Yes, I'd say they're fairly accurate. Mine was also 1 pound per UPS and had a resin head, bust, and eyes.

    10. @SteamWitch Very possible. My Granado goodies have been in Houston since Wednesday or Thursday. I have another package that seems to have stalled in LA since this mess began. At least things seem to be moving now.

Thanks, @Kayka! I'll just have to wait and see.

    11. I signed up with UPS and got an email that my package will be delivered tomorrow!!

    14. IKR, I definitely have a few boys who are going to love the new eyes. I will keep Galileo he is gorgeous.

    15. YAY! Congrats. I know Galileo is awesome. If I was into resin I totally would have keep him. I can't wait to see what you do with him. Your guys always turn up awesome :)

    16. Yeah same. I'm really happy to have mine!
He may have to wait for the nicer body to become available, and I may need a second new head for the other one I've got now though XD

    17. Thank you!
Here is a comparison of Galileo to my Raguel and V-01

    18. Galileo is a really nice sculpt. I like him a lot.

    19. My lucky bag came this evening.

I received three pretty pairs of eyes, a fourth pair of eyes, and a Dark Lord Enoch in NS resin. I would never have purchased him by choice, and I admit I was disappointed at first. However, I realized I could use him for the demon aspect of the character shelled by the NS Enoch I already own. And I won't even need to worry about a new body, which is a plus.

In the end, I think I'm happy with what I received. Maybe. I'm going to sleep on it to be sure.

    20. Ooh more cool stuff!
My wallet thanks me for not spending the money but at the same time...a Dark Lord Enoch. :nosebleed

    22. Dark Lord Enoch IS cool! Too bad I'm on a dolly-diet (which I'll likely break, but hopefully not right now). :sweat

Hello everyone. I received my 2ndhand vigor and lucifer body last week and I cleaned him good ahahhahaha. The body does alot of nice poses. But can anyone tell me what are some limitations of the body with regards to movement and poseability. Also do granado resin yellow fast?

    27. I got around to painting my Remiel head. I'm also loving the bust.
I need to figure out a wig for him... and maybe try blue or green eyes.

@SteamWitch Very nice! I can't wait to see how you decide to finish him. :3nodding:

@lizumi156 The vigor body is fairly pose-able and sturdy. I haven't heard of Granado dolls yellowing any faster than other brands. All resin bjd's will experience some degree of yellowing over time due to unavoidable oxidation, but this is generally a slow process that takes course over a number of years. Just exercise reasonable precautions such as not leaving a doll in direct sunlight or excessively humid environments for prolonged periods, and generally, this will prevent untimely yellowing. You can search the forums for more info. There are lots of threads on the topic!

    28. I'll add that florescent lights are also bad for our dolls, but LED lights without UV light are safe and used in museums.

    29. I haven't heard of any issues with Granado resin yellowing any faster than others, either. I'd be curious to know if owners of older Granado dolls have seen anything?

I've got other (non-Granado) dolls that are older... I think you just have to expect some yellowing to happen over time (decades, not years, unless there are specific problems or unless someone has exposed their dolls to direct sunlight for prolonged periods or Florescent light... or left them in very high heat or something like that). Yellowing should not be very obvious in most colors, but reds do tend to fade a tad more easily, and yellowing might show a bit more in white dolls, since there is no color to kind of hide the slight change towards yellow. Most people describe the changes as "mellowing" since it really shouldn't be a drastic change even after 10 years.

    30. Mellowing is generally a very gradual process and often you won't notice that there's been a colour change especially if it's even over the entire doll and is an age related thing as opposed to a sun or light exposure thing. I think the amount that resin mellows is also dependent on the formulation a company uses and simple chance, too. A number of companies are also now adding UV protection into the resin mixture to help retard the mellowing of the resin although nothing can stop it completely.

I have an RS doll in red that's 7 years old. He's still a soft brick red. He might have mellowed somewhat but I can't see any colour change. Alternately, I have an RS doll in the old blue (that's more like a dingy blue-toned white) that's 10 years old and he's very visibly mellowed into a gorgeous light turquoise that actually works better for his character. His colour change is utterly even and he looks like he was cast in that colour as even the inside of his head cap is light turquoise. He was a noticeable different colour when he was about 4 or 5 years old despite living in his box 99% of the time (I have no display space). I strongly suspect he was from a wonky batch because his change was so drastic and seems to be through the entire doll and not just surface discolouration without any of the usual factors that would cause resin to mellow.

I have WS dolls from the same company (SD) that are various ages and the change is exceedingly minor. This could be mellowing or it could be that they changed resin formulation at some point and actually started off with a slightly different undertone to the white. Even so, the white that is older is simply not paper white any more and more of a subtle creamy white. They are still easily identifiable as WS dolls and if they weren't side by side, you likely wouldn't know one had mellowed.

    31. @SteamWitch - Ohh what a cutie! :D Freckles are the best!

@Kayka - He turned out really well! I love the way your painted his lips. :)

    32. Thank you!!!
Your Remiel looks very good, congrats. Thank you, he is in the eye change out/wig swap stage now.

Thank you, I love freckles too and these came out well. I'm still experimenting with his final look.

    33. I think it's true about mellowing--that it's gradual and not obvious!

Unless resin batches have serious issues (there have been problems with certain resin batches and the companies and owners usually know about this right away or within a few years if something yellows super-quickly or yellows unevenly too quickly--or unless some owners have left dolls in the light wearing the same clothes for too long and there are uneven yellowing problems--most bjd owners shouldn't have to worry too much about yellowing.

    34. hey i was curious on if anyone knew what the neck measurements on the enoch head is? i know what the neck on the body is but i havent been able to find anything about what it is on the heads :0c

    35. Thanks to all the replies about granado lucifer and on yellowing in general. I'll take the necessary precautions, but I'll definitely make sure not to be held back by being too wooried of my doll yellowing. Its natural afterall.

Here's my boi after having his faceup done. His name is Branch btw.

    36. @lizumi156 It's nice to see another Lucifer around since there don't seem to be too many of them kicking around. Liroshan (my 53cm Lucifer) still needs to have his face painted *sigh*. It's on my ever-growing list of doll stuff that needs to happen.

    37. He looks like a fun guy @lizumi156. Congrats!

    38. <3 you definitely need to give him a faceup. Idk but somehow this sculpt seems to naturally have that cool aura to him. And he's super handsomeee, painted or not :) , just like any other granado boiiii.

P.S I would definitely love to see what you're going to do with your lucifer <3

Thank you! He definitely does. Tho. his supposed character is really just a shy and anxious person, who is almost always misinterpreted to be a snob (bec of his looks and on how distant he tends to be). Very cliche, but I like him that way, and I think it would suit him <3

    39. Liroshan is the God of Dusk & Dawn in my Divine Worship World. His partner is Sancire (Dollshe Saint 55cm in espresso ebony; I'm still waiting on him 16 months after ordering *grumbles*). Liroshan is in grey (Granado calls it syringa, which is a grey with purple undertones and syringa is the genus name of lilacs; how cool is that?), has a mohair wig that I dyed to be dark orange with dark red tips and eyes that I traded a friend for that are an "oops" pair of slightly mismatched Enchanted Doll eyes called grapefruit (one is noticeably lighter than the other). He has a mark on his chest that is a rainbow-ish sun in shades of red/orange/pink/purple and gold and silver vines on both forearms. He is frequently shirtless and shoeless although he'll sometimes grudgingly wear a short open vest if someone pesters him to appear more clothed.
