☆~~ Granado Doll Discussion Part 16 ~~☆

May 26, 2017

    1. heh heh yeah, grippy dots. Probably really called silicone dots? Dunno. There are about four in each shoulder joint, a couple in each hip joint, a couple in the chest joint... really helps him to hold poses. ^_^ Oh, and a big silicone disk for the top of the neck to help the head stay in place when you pose it too.

Just a quick n dirty shot of Eric. Had some blue cotton candy leftover from the hockey game last night.
      Eric: You call this "food"?

      ....not really. lol

    2. @Lawrichai - I hope so! But I've got to juggle work and now going back to study. So...only one free day a week now. If I'm not helping organise events. :sweat

@aernath - Those ears are so CUTE. :D

    3. @aernath Oh, so basically Granado put some silicone KIPS of sorts on their dolls? Quite thoughtful of them. :D

I really adore how they did his ears! It's really close to the elven ears from the LOTR movies, which isn't too overdone (for lack of better term).

    4. Geesh... why do I never get Alerts for this thread, even when it's listed as one I'm watching???

      Anyone doing the Photo Contest?

I'd like to... but am not sure what sort of theme to do...

I hope the new body will be a replacement for the 68cm. And that it'll match all the heads... and that they'll be made available to buy!!! (oh, wait... I'm trying not to buy any more dolls...!) :doh

    5. @april I know I will participate ^^
And you don't necessarily require a theme per say.
There are so many categories this year, all you may need is a visually interesting picture :D

You can go check the entries for previous years to inspire you :

    6. @AntarelNefertili There's a "kip" in the neck, but here's a shot of what the grippy dots look like in the shoulder.
They work quite well. The first time I saw them, was in my first Titan, and it made sense there since you're working with massive body parts. I just didn't expect them in a much smaller body. Just means they work that much better. ;)

I'll participate in the contest. I usually do. It's a great way to get myself up and about with the dolls, when the weather does so well at keeping me inside and immobile (and miserable).
I have a couple of ideas already now... maybe I can get one done in the next few days. The weather's going to be warmer for a little bit.

    7. Thanks, @Lawrichai ! I can't wait to see your photos (after the contest). You always do such a great job with them.

@aernath -- I always love your photos, too!

I still haven't come up with any ideas, but I'll take some kind of photos--just because I really need to do some doll-activities. I've been bad about doing anything with my dolls lately...

    8. @aernath Ohhhhh thank you for the picture! That's nice Granado is sending their dolls sueded of sorts -- with all that muscle, gravity tends to work against them when posing. :3 And, good idea with using the photo contest to stave off cabin fever. Maybe that could also be a theme. XD

@Lawrichai You really kill it every time with your photoshoots! Pardon me asking, but is Darth Sintros your character or was he part of the Star Wars universe prior to the Disney takeover? :D

Everyone, good luck with the contest! I just might participate for the experience since I finally got doll stands for my heavy boy and girl, which means I won't have to constantly worry about someone faceplanting during a photoshoot.

    9. @AntarelNefertili Sintros is an OC, he was created in the game "Star Wars; The Old Republic"
      =^.^=
      [IMG]

And my thanks to you and @april for your nice comment <3
This far it feels like I'm aiming for the props category ;) as my scenes were usually rather bland and devoid of objects. I want to change that this year since I'll be using the Gentleman Thief, so I don't need to spend time on a new faceup and a new wardrobe. ^^

      =^.^=

    10. @aernath - DollShe have little silicone dots in their big 28M boys too. Fantastic idea really! I think more companies should do this with their bigger dolls. It helps so much!

@Lawrichai - I love your Sith guys so much. :D

    11. @Lawrichai That's awesome! I also recall your photos from the DoA Anniversary Event. Looking forward to new pics of Neil doing his thief-y things. :3

I was doing some de-stressing doll shots several days ago, and here's one of the results. Michael looks like he's on the verge of being cut through by Fantasia Vivian, but rest assured that that isn't the case. ^_^ (On a side note -- this means I have a long way to go before attempting the Granado photo contest, because the entire background was just PS.)

    12. @AntarelNefertili ... if you hadn't mentioned the background being photoshoped, I wouldn't have noticed ><
Be more confident in your skills, and don't hesitate to play with lights and camera angles. =^.^=

    13. Backgrounds are tough. I PS'd my backgrounds for the last Granado Photo Contest (since they didn't say "no PS" in the rules)... but I wished I could have gone somewhere to find the perfect place! (I could have tried to haul my doll up to the top of Mammoth Mountain, but it would have been a LOT of trouble, and risky to my doll.)

I think your PS'd background looks great, @AntarelNefertili . I wouldn't have noticed that it was photoshopped, either.

Here is a shot from my series from last year--

    14. You guys with your photoshopped backgrounds! I thought they were real!

      • x 2
    15. Granado has posted another teaser of the guy in progress. He has a detachable penis. XD

      • x 1
    16. Options, baby, Options! lol :thumbup

      • x 1
    17. Detachable penis would be good considering they tend to be sculpted... generously! --But there's always the fear of what happens in that song--that they sometimes get misplaced! :o

      ---
Did you see the wig-gluing video Granado did? I'm not interested in gluing wigs to my guys (even though some wear mostly the same wig all the time)... but it said, "alcohol glue" was used... Does anyone know what kind that would be that is available in the US? Is it water-soluble if you want to remove it?

    18. I don't think I'd use anything with the word alcohol in the name. That is typically bad/melty for resin. I think most people use regular white glue when doing wigs in that style.

    19. I glue wigs to some of my guys heads but I just use white glue or white tacky glue because it dries faster. No clue what alcohol glue is; seems like it would mess up the faceup.

    20. Beside the penis hole, what really caught my attention in that latest body teaser are those extra joints in the thighs !!! O.O About Friggin'TIME! <3

      • x 1
    21. /me imagines a horde of Granadudes tramping past, singing this ... Sacred needs to cover that.:eusa_sile

    22. Awwww thanks guys, I needed that confidence boost! Even though the Granado contest is pretty lenient on PS use, I'm pretty sure not everyone agrees with a huge PS job. ^_^

      Anyhoo, about that body...

Well, I guess it's also to our advantage that his treasures are now detachable? XD @Jany your reaction is priceless. I'd like to add another song to the mix (it's slightly NSFW, so please don't play this at full volume if you're in the office!): here. Has anyone tried compiling a song list for Sacred? :eusa_sile

With those new thigh joints, though, his legs are already bound to be more poseable than the legs of the current hybrid I'm using. If Crocus had also integrated an arm swivel, I'd be a very happy camper.

    23. @AntarelNefertili - That whole background is photoshopped? :o If you hadn't mentioned it then I would never have noticed!

Ok I totally need a guy with a detchable peen. A friend and I always joked about turning them into earrings. I am absolutely loving this body so far, plus thigh joints! I have two dolls with thigh joints and they are both probably some of the best at holding interesting sitting-down poses, including but not limited to the lotus pose!

    24. I got my shipping notice from Granado on the 12th. Tracking has not updated at all aside from the first where it was left at the sorting center. I don't recall it usually taking this long for tracking to update with them, or to get the doll. I hope something hasn't happened to him T_T

    25. I had that happen to a head last year ... he got stuck for a month, but he wasn't the only Granado parcel that stopped moving. I think after a couple of weeks and several stuck parcels Granado launched an enquiry, and stuff started moving again not long after that. As far as I know, no dolls got hurt on the way.
Fingers crossed yours makes it home safely!

    26. Yep, @Quiet and Insane, it was originally just my trusty, crinkly white sheet. ^_^ This was another photo I took at the same time frame, which shows what I mean. Aaaaaand yes those thigh joint designs are wonderful for posing! I became ecstatic when I saw that the new body will have them.

@LuckyXIII I've had that happen before (but then again, my country's postal service ain't exactly stellar). Granado was really nice and took it upon themselves to monitor the item, sending me an email when it became apparent customs was holding it up. Someone did leave a dirty fingerprint on my poor Michael's forehead (not to mention slashing his protective packaging -- my God, my heart!), but otherwise he made it home in one piece. Hopefully you'll have your doll soon!

    27. The detachable peen is great for tight pants - no worries about a gaping fly spoiling an otherwise great shot (pointed look at a few of my guys)
As to worries of misplacing said manly bits, I stick the usual one on the fridge when it's tight pants photo time. I'm also an immature and terrible person who puts the whole spectrum of parts on the fridge when my MIL visits
(I'm sorry, was that another backhanded comment about my "creepy" doll hobby? drinks are in the fridge, please, help yourself :mwahaha)

    28. @AntarelNefertili - No way! :o That turned out so well! Thigh joints are great indeed.

@Girrl - Oh man yeah I know alllllll about that. :| The Dollshe Drainpipe strikes again. At least Iwan has a body with a more modest peen. Hilariously if it did get in the way he'd be the only one I'd be willing to castrate. Then stick it in a specimen jar.
Oh yes. I'd love a set for fridge magnet purposes!

    29. HAHAHAHA !!! :D

    30. Specimen jars all 'round! ;)

    31. Perhaps Granado should start sending out, uhhhh, "pickle jars" with their body orders now, eh? ;)

    40. *laughing too hard at this thread to type a reasonable reply*

      "pickle jars"

My SpiritDoll guy has "optional parts" and I think I'm going to have to stash them in a jar now. It must be done. My inner twelve year-old demands it. XD

I am going to interrupt this conversation to introduce Captain Remiel's new wig by TwinStars BJD. He definitely feels more piratey now.

      • x 6
    43. Always good to see photos, even if it interrupts convos about detachable bits! That's a fantastic wig. Definitely adds to the pirate-look!

    44. It's always nice to see photos of other Granadudes! Captain Jack Sparrow vibe there, @Therealwalter. :)

On the other hand, those who have access to Granado's FB may want to read their comment on the new body. Someone was inquiring about its height, and the answer was "about 7x cm height". And we were expecting something 6x cm in height or shorter. :sweat Hopefully the 3D software will make it easier for them to resize the body into smaller dimensions tho!

    45. Alright, so I just posted on Granado's q&a board asking if there are mail delays. Tomorrow marks three weeks since my guy supposedly shipped and tracking hasn't moved at all and there has been no sign of him here. :(

    46. Ugh, I just got a response back from Granado about my missing package. They said they will talk to their shipping person but it will be 2-3 weeks because it is close to Chinese new year. I really, really hope he shows up soon T_T

      • x 2
    47. Oh man, that's just bad luck! I hope he shows up soon on your front porch! We don't need no tracking if he makes his own way faster!

    48. A new discussion thread: Part 17 !

      :)
