☆~~ Granado Doll Discussion Part 14 ~~☆

Aug 25, 2016

    1. thanks @Lawrichai ! they do look so cool together! can't wait to give them faces. :D

    2. yes @fishcake - definitely will be a while even if I move them up the faceup queue - which I'm going to do. ^^ (still not sure about sending heads out - paranoid about transit... plus I could see it being addictive and not good for the wallet. XP) but they look so great even blank - can't stop playing with them on my work desk... ^^

    3. You do fantastic faceups! We all just need a dedicated heated spray room.

    4. :blushthanks! Oh yeah that would be totally nice! This winter biz...

    5. I would like it more if my house was bigger. On the other hand I would just fill it up with doll stuff ;)

    6. *wheeee* My April Story order arrived today! :dance The resin color is very good - the Granado WS is a shade pinker than the April Story WS, but it's pretty close. :D The neck's a bit off, but I think I can mod it to be better. :)

    7. that's awesome, congrats!!! very curious about your plans for the neck / head and looking forward to seeing it! ^^

    8. Oh that is a good combo, @AirimirOfGondor People's faces are a little pinker than their bodies so this looks "right" to me as is! Great shoulders too!

    9. @ATYL From directly head-on, it looks quite wonderful. When he turns his head to the side though, or if you look from an upward-angle at him, you can see that it's terribly thin right at the base of the head. :P

@fishcake OMG the shoulders are so great! :love And I'll not lie, I am a biiiiig fan of that adam's apple! :XD:

    10. Usually my Sidonia decides for herself which way she will pose ;) - we have ended up with some good ones that way. I think I'd have more trouble getting her to stand up but I will try her out again soon :) She is an "interesting" poser!

    11. OMG your doll stuff! Saw your "inventory" pics on the blog - SO amazing!! :abow:

@AirimirOfGondor yeah the back of my granado head on aprilstory body had a helmet looking gap. wouldn't know how to fix it but fortunately hair helped. hope yours will be an easy fix as well!! it's really a great body for the head! :D

    12. @ATYL they're a beautiful pair! Is that sunshine and white?

@LyanneNZ I can get mine to stand, but sitting defeats her. :)

    13. Has anyone else had any trouble finding shoes to fit their Evol body? If there anywhere to even find shoes that size? Finding shoes for my Søren is proving pretty difficult. I evne ordered a pair that said they'd fit and they absolutely did not.

    14. @ATYL - Ooh they're lovely! Congratulations! :D

@AirimirOfGondor - Nice hybrid! He looks quite good on that body. :)

    15. Sorry to hear that :(

When I got my EVOL I figured the feet would be a bit bigger, so I got two pairs of Granado's boots knowing I could mod them.
I haven't tried ordering from another company yet ... I was considering learning to make custom ones at some point, since they are very expensive and we have no mean to try them on before ordering them online.

    16. The Iplehouse HID and EID share the same shoe options, so my guess is that both of them have the same length of foot : 10.2 cm
      The EVOL feet are 10cm.

Now there is no details about the feet thickness, or width.
I guess at that point, it'll be a question of trials and error ><

Is there a thread in DOA about a collection of available shoe models that have been proved to fit the EVOL?

    17. My Evol dolls are wearing EID boots. Haven't tried dress shoes though.

    18. It may be the same problem as the Dollshe 28m's have. Their feet measure in a way that it sounds like some shoes will fit, but then they do not because their toes are too wide. I guess the different widths of different parts of the feet need to be taken into consideration too. I have some Dollmore glamour model sized boots, but unfortunately, I do not have an Evol body to test them on. They do fit my Impldoll Idol well, and with a little room to spare, and his feet are similar in size to Iplehouse EID and Soom ID. There's also a pair of soom boots that I have that are snug on him but they work. I'm not sure if they would work for Evol.

In the Dollshe discussion thread, someone tried Blueblood doll boots and they fit the 28m quite well, so that might be another option for Evol feet.

    19. Are any of my fellow Granado lovers located in Russia? Rangvar has been looking for someone in her localish community that has an Evol or an Embody to do a quick fitting. She's offering a special something for someone who can provide this service for her, I figured I'd drop a note here to see if anyone can help her out in addition to helping themselves out, because this lady is seriously talented and has a solid history of positive feedback from commissions, so a free thing from her would be amazing. >_>

    20. @TheIronWillAlchemist -- I have an Evol (Neptune) and EIDs... and the Evol fits (tried without socks!) Iplehouse EID shoes perfectly. They don't have a lot of room in there--but I think thin socks would work with most of the shoes. EIDs have very wide feet, so most everything that will fit them will fit other dolls with similar lengthed feet.

I tried to buy some Luts SuperSenior sized shoes for my EID years ago, but they were too tight, even though people swore they'd fit! Those were tight on my Evol/Neptune, too! I might have been able to close the zipper with work, but didn't want to force it any more... I pretty much have had to stick to Iplehouse EID shoes for my Iplehouse dolls.

I bought the boots Granado offered with my Neptune and they are a nice fit. I'm ordering more from Granado along with my Michael...

I really don't expect to find much else out there that will work... But I'm lucky that I already have to EIDs--so I have a decent shoe-wardrobe for them all!

    22. Omygosh that outfit is so perfect!!! What beautiful, tiny details!

    23. Thank you so much, @fishcake. I am very happy with how it turned out. The long wait is well worth it.

    24. Thank you, @Lawrichai. Neptune is my favourite sculpt.

    25. @suok2011 omg, why can't I "Like" this more than once?! He looks fabulous!

    26. @aernath, thank you for liking him. You can "like" another picture.

    27. The sword is impressive because he has a scabbard and a hangar for it! And matching shoes :D

    28. The sword is a letter opener that i found on eBay specifically for his character, and Veronica ( seamstress ) made the scabbard and belt according to the sword's size. The whole outfit is awesome, she payed so much attention to all little details. I am actually blown away with her work.

    29. @suok2011 - Oh my goodness he's just spectacular! :D

    30. Thank you, @Quiet and Insane , i think so too.

    31. It got better :love
Like @fishcake said, the scabbard, hanger and matching shoes bump an already phenomenal outfit/cosplay over the top. Well done you!

    32. @suok2011 he's fantastic! The details are just amazing.

    33. @suok2011 -- It's been said already, but I also wanted to chime in that your guy is fantastic! :D And what great thinking, using a sword letter opener for his sword! I will have to watch e-bay for weapons appropriate for my assassin guy. Can you tell me what the length of your guy's sword is, for an idea of scale?

    34. Thank you all for liking my Jamie. Huge thank you to a talented Veronika who created this outfit and a face artist who did his face up. And of course to Granado for creating such a wonderful sculpt.

The length of the sword including the handle is 24 cm or 9.5". You can put in search sword letter openers, and there will be a lot to choose from.

    35. I know they will be ot here, but I just wanted to make a quick mention that Granado has posted pictures of the skeletal system for their upcoming vinyl doll.

    36. YES !!
I own a Phicen 1/6 seamless body and I was hoping to see the day where we could have 1/3 dolls made this way :D
I'm really excited to see the final product!

    37. I can't wait to see what they make for their new dolls! Knowing granado, it'll be great, no matter what

    38. When I asked Granado if the Vindoll would be like a Phicen one, I got this reply:

"I think they are not the same thing. But our Vindolls look strong "

    39. I do too and she is an excellent poser! They're so squishy and fun. I would be really excited if they were similar!

    40. Anyone have any recommendations for titan-sized clothing outside of Granado, themselves? ;v ;
I'm looking for basic, casual wear-- t-shirts, wife beaters, blue jeans...
      Thanks in advance! <3

    41. I saw one in a baby shirt once. It was in a photostory.

    42. lmao. Thanks for the suggestion~

    43. In the same line of thought, if you're good at sewing, you could modify newborn patterns to fit them, but I think there aren't many bjd clothes that will fit them.

    44. /instant laugh at the idea of a Titan wearing a shirt with little sheep and ducks on it
      =^.^=

    45. I'm totally okay with sewing. But, admittedly, I'm also very lazy with it. I'd rather buy clothing to spare me some time, because I like doing other things instead. It's terrible. :' D

Thank you guys for your help so far!

    46. For pants, you can also modify baby pants. Those you need to buy for a higher age (I bought 18months size pants for a soom super gem size before, so for a titan body, you might want to look around the 2yrs old sizes). I stray away from things with pockets and such so I can just sew down one side then the other and cut off the excess. If you want to get fancy, more can be done (adjusting pockets, raising the crotch, etc)

    47. Moderation Note

Only the listed Grandfathered vinyl doll lines are allowed on Den of Angels. Any vinyl dolls introduced after the current criteria was established are Off Topic. If you have any questions, please start a new thread in Ask the Mods.

    48. Alright, I wouldn't have known that, thank you.

    49. Oooh. That's an idea too! Thank you for that.

    50. Titan clothes are available at Aernaths shirt shack on Etsy. I almost wish I had a Titan so I could get the Minion shirt.

    51. Thanks for the suggestion! I had searched around a bit, and I saw their clothing before asking;;; Unfortunately, the clothing they make doesn't suit my doll's style. : <

    52. Annnnd everything I had lined up for my Jupiter is too small or too big. Well, except his eyes. The eyes worked well! But apparently his head is closer to a 6/7 than a 7/8...maybe I misread somewhere...

    53. Oh, that's too bad @ryuunohime. At least you have the right eyes! I'd heard the heads were small, but I didn't think 6/7 wigs would work.... My Neptune can wear 8/9, but they are a bit large. I'd have thought 7/8 would be OK... but it really does depend on the wig...

    54. Almost all Granado's male heads are 20cm or circumference. (Charles is 22cm and Titan's are 24cm)

Though I don't know about generic wig sizes and how they fit...
I've only been custom-tailoring my own wigs ever since I started with bjds... ><

    55. Hmm, it might just be this wig. I know they're not exactly standardized! There's another wig I was hoping to try for him, so I might end up just buying it in both sizes and sell the one that doesn't work. ^^

In lieu of that, though, I love him! Seriously impressed with the quality. The tan color is gorgeous and there's not a seam line on him anywhere! He stands like a rock, too. I'll try to get a picture soon <3

    56. Every now and then I find something I just can't pass up.
This time it was this onesie at Target on clearance for $2.25... (I just tucked the bottom up underneath)
