That was a fantastic April Fool's joke! I wonder if they heard groaning from some people about having no room for a Titan??? Room isn't as much of a problem as money and trying to handle such a big guy, I think! But yeah--Hilarious!

 

At least their joke this year didn't get me like it did last year! XD I was prepared for silliness this time around. Still, this year was very funny.

I love what I have seen of Mercury so far...maybe there is a robot arm? The boy version shows one and the options on the girl has 3 Maiden Body set options

Mercury is thankfully too cute for my taste. *phew* My wallet is safe. Looks like Granado's also re-done their resin colour comparison chart (which is super handy).

 

Yeah, that's what I was thinking (colour name-wise).

 

I asked and Syringa is a new color. They posted a comparison with Asura.
They said Asura will not be made anymore and this is the gray that is replacing it.

 

Ooh, that's quite nice actually.

 

Oh no, the new color combined with the upcoming event is going to drain my pocketbook. I was hoping they would release Uranus again soon, but not this soon. I'll have to see if I can spare enough for another layaway (I have two going with other doll companies right now.) If not, I'll just have to wait until next time and hope syringa doesn't go the same way asura went.

 

Mercury is so cute as a boy, I think he would be perfect as a mini! A friend for Tera.
And I thought being safe from him/her would make me safe. Haha. Those heads. I'm thinking I need a Pancho and evo Uranus.
If I had the money, I would love to get all four!
I need to go play with the dolls I already have, and stop drooling over the new ones....
But, Mercury is so adorable as a boy! Makes me want to pinch his cheeks! lol

Oh, and yes! See? Sunshine IS different. I wish they had posted that resin line up when they actually CHANGED the resin! *grumble* Looks like I'll be buying Tan instead these days.
I love Uranus, but I am still annoyed that he came in the new Sunshine without notice.

 

Hmmm... that new gray might tip me over the edge into Titan territory...I've been quietly assembling parts to make the Arishok (from DA 2) Now I have to have a gander at the available headsculpts and contemplate deeply

Right? And the hulked out Titan body would work pretty well too. But the head is the problem!!

 

I think no matter which sculpt you pick, even from other companies, that it's going to need heavy mods. I'd say get a cheaper head and mod it, then blush/paint it to match.

 

Hmmm... I wonder what my Sunshine Neptune will look like??? New or old Sunshine--probably new since he's 2016, but I ordered before the announcement??? (It's still "Preparing") Ah, well...! It'll be a surprise! Haven't had a doll in that color before so I might not know differently... I probably should have just ordered Tan, since it looked great in all the official photos! -- but I have an Iplehouse Real Skin and wanted something a bit more reddish...! We'll see, I guess.

 

I have one doll in Sunshine (older). It's very orange. I don't know what the new one looks like compared to it. Hard to tell in the pictures.

 

It's a tricorn hat. I think I need to strap on those swords and take him out for a full length photo.

Thank you, it is one I made for the Saint I sold so it had to find a new owner. One of the Souldoll twins wore it at the Masquerade Meet.

 

Here he is in all his pirate glory, Captain Strange standing in the dirt like a rock on a windy day. I'm sure he would rather stand on the deck of a ship.
The coat is made of corduroy and blue leather, with lots of gilded trim. I made his scabbard too, it's very steampunk.

@SteamWitch That whole outfit is fabulous--though the scabbard might be my favorite part, it's so cool!

I'm afraid I am going to get Mercury..she is so adorable as a girl; I even like her as a fullset, though I am not sure I can manage all of it. I'm so happy there are shoes!

Mercury is adorable, but I'm safe. The event / re-release on the other hand ... I might need to snatch a Pancho head.
Does anyone happen to have a comparison between Granado's and Ringdoll's tan skin? I'm trying to make up my mind about two dudes at once ...

Jany, here is your request, I freadkedn out when I set the fist hand on Austin's chest, it was an exact match! So I had to pull up the sleeves on both my tan Ringdolls. Ash is over 3 years old and was always darker. Evz body is about 2 years old and so is the fist hand but it has been in a closed box all this time. So the newer tan seems to match exactly - who knew.

@april - I ordered my Uranus from the first batch of them, before Evo was even announced, and he came in that new, more reddish color. But since you're wanting a little more red, I think this will be perfect for you then!

That's a pretty big difference!!! The red of the old sunshine was red enough... but the new sunshine seems super-red! Ah, well. I'll have to wait and see if I like it or not. Red does tend to be more fugitive, so maybe the resin will mellow a bit over time???

I was rather expecting the old sunshine. But what can ya do?

Actually, the difference doesn't look as bad in your Sunshine lineup... Maybe I won't know any better since I don't have a comparison??? (I hope!!!)

 

Oh forgive my dirty mind but I can't help wondering where Ash and Evz' hands are going in that photo above.

@aernath: XD Thanks. It was actually rather fun and ... surprisingly easy to sew them. Had to pay attention though when posing them. Sometimes they'd slip down and show butt XD

I hope that now that the planets are through, Granado will add a few regulars again.

@Snowy - If I do ever end up making them I shall! Though they'll likely be in a separate thread as Iwan's certainly not going to be wearing one. The sewing machine is something like...forty years old so a replacement doesn't seem like such a hollow threat to make. Having said that...I've always wanted an overlocker. Also, Iwan needs a cape. Because he'd look fab in one.

Is anyone planning on getting Mercury or any of the re-released dolls??

 

Does anyone know if this: http://legenddoll.net/brand-122-c0.html is a reputable dealer for Granado dolls? They seem to have several discontinued or not for sale on the Granado site available dolls. I know some vendors get an allotment of a certain doll and when those are sold then that is all they get. It just seems odd that this vendor still has dolls for sale that have'nt been for sale for a while.

 

@Luckyl I know it's a legit seller for other companies. Unsure about G. I think I remember someone wanting to order a Pancho outside the order period and they got back to that person a couple of days later apologizing and refunding. They might have the one or other mold in stock thought. I'd just directly ask them if they really could get you the mold in question since he was limited.

I was going to ask on the Granado board but someone had already done it - Granado confirmed they're legitimate, they have access to the Chinese order page and apparently even when a sculpt is discontinued for "international" pre-orders, they sometimes still sell them locally.
I'm planning a Pancho during the re-release too (would have got him through Legenddoll otherwise), but probably just a head. The Must-Catch IOS event scrambled my plans a bit.

@Quiet and Insane -^^- Thanks! I love them as well. I was disappointed at first when the motiv didn't seem to want to go with the green tiles, but then my mum and dad had this idea to frame them with the pretty green-goldish mosaic tiles I found while looking for the green fake-marbled ones and ... well.. -^^- I love my bathroom.
The time I invested to have it look like I always wanted was time well spent. And now it makes a great backdrop for some pics ;P

 

@Snowy - Bathroom tiles tend to make for good backdrops. At least at my house, it's also the room with the best lighting, so I tend to take portraits and other random photos in there (hence why you often see towels or the towel rack in my photos. XD

 

Hi all, newbie here, apologies if this question is in the wrong spot.

I absolutely love the EVOL body, but none of the Granado heads thrill me. They're certainly pretty, but none of them are the one I'm looking for. Andrew's kind of close, but what I really want is the furrowed brow as seen in Iplehouse's Dexter and Andrew's brow is smooth. I realize that the furrow can be simulated in the faceup, but I'd prefer that feature to be sculpted as part of the head.

What would you guys recommend I do? Keep waiting and watching to see if Granado releases a head sculpt that fits my vision? Get the body from Granado and the head from somewhere else? I'm pretty new to the hobby so I don't know if all of the pictures of Granado's previous sculpts are in their gallery, but I've looked through all the models they've had and none of them are right for me.

Honestly, even Iplehouse's Dexter isn't perfect, I like the furrow but I'm looking for a more masculine/chiseled face sculpt and Dexter is a bit too much on the pretty boy spectrum for me. Can any of you bjd learned scholars suggest any heads that you think might work for me that would also fit on the EVOL body?

 

Impl Nicholas? I'm not sure if he'd fit on the Evol, mind you, but what you described reminded me of him.

I'd say grab the body and find a head. I'm a big fan of hybrids. Then again, they might come up with a head that fits your bill ... you never know! But you can still get the head later too.

 

I'd say since the Evol line is fairly new, there's a pretty good chance they'll make something like you're looking for. But that could take a year or more.
The neck is 11.8cm around, so remember that when you're looking for a different head to put on the Evol body. It's a little on the larger side, so your choices may be few.

@Jany -- Thanks for the suggestion! Being so new to this hobby I only know of a few companies, so it's hard to even know where to start browsing. I don't think I would've even found IMPL's Nicholas if you hadn't suggested it, not anytime soon that's for sure! He's definitely in the right direction of what I'm looking for, but I'd prefer less full lips. Seems like a big demand though, as all of the dolls seem to have nice full lips. XD Regardless, now that I've seen IMPL's style and it looks like the kind that I like, I have a new vendor to follow!

@aernath -- Thanks for the head's up and the info! I don't mind waiting, as I'm not in a rush to get a doll right away. P.S. Joe is beautiful!


All in all, I wonder if I'm being over-ambitious by waiting for "Mr. Right" to come along. I feel like he sort of did, well, part of him anyway, with the body. Was it more difficult for all of you to find the right heads than it was to find the right bodies?

 

Nope ... but I was unsure for ages, looking at various sculpts and companies and liking loads of dolls, loving them even, but never this "THIS will be my first" effect ... until the girl in my avatar was released. Pretty sure that can happen to you, Mr. Right coming up at some point. More and more companies are going the less "cute" and more mature route. Not just mature, more ... defined features, I guess, for both boys and girls. It's worth keeping an eye out at any rate.
