I live in a small coastal town in the South-West of England. My interests include:- painting, reading, wildlife, music, and dancing. I'm also a big sci-fi geek.
I have been collecting dolls and nostalgic toys from the 1980's/early 1990's since the age of 16 with my enthusiasm for dolls still going strong over 16 years later. I took about a year out of collecting when I was in my teens at college feeling that perhaps it wasn't appropriate but soon found myself collecting once again especially after discovering the Internet. About 5 years ago I then became interested in Asian dolls after finding a cute mouse toy made by Takara. It got me thinking about Asian toys in general. I began searching on the internet and admittedly found it difficult to find out about dolls and toys that were released exclusively in Asia during the 80's/90's. I did discover Licca Castle dolls though which I also collect and then discovered a random page one day showing pictures of a doll called Kiki (Kinoko Juice). I was fascinated by them but disappointed to learn that they weren't available outside Japan. It was in the comments section that someone referred to the term BJD which was new to me. I looked it up, discovered BJD companies, did plenty of research and then purchased my first resin BJD.
I have downsized my collection making them much more managable - preferring to have no more than a handful at a time to concentrate on as I do collect other dolls as previously stated so need to prioritise space.
I like to visit forums for advice and am always happy to help others with suggestions where I can. :)
