I have loved dolls since my childhood. Back in 2009, while I was looking for information about the vintage dolls I collected at the time, I came across a new type of doll known as ABJD. I was not sure if I wanted to stop collecting vintage dolls and start up with a new hobby that I new little about. I was not only collecting but also working on learning how to restore dolls. Fast Forward to 2011, I decided to get a well known book about BJDs so that I could get an introduction and be able to study the hobby. I followed most of the suggestions in the book. I took my time to research the BJD company that I would want to buy my first doll. My first BJD type doll was not an ABJD but actually a BJD type doll made by a doll artist back in 1970s of porcelain. I did not give up on my dream of having an ABJD. Well, of course time passed and I kept changing my mind about which ABJD company I wanted a doll from week to week. There are a variety of beautiful ABJDs out there but I could not settle on one. Then in October 2013, I was browsing my favorite website and found an ABJD that captured my eye. I could not stop thinking about her. I eventually took the plunge and bought her. My first ABJD is a IslandDoll Cookie in tan skin. Her name is Alexis aka Honey. Alexis is absolutely beautiful. I am in the process of making her clothes.
