I just got my first BJD a few weeks ago, and I'm having a lot of fun with her so far. I don't know anyone involved with these dolls in real life, and all I do know about them is what I've read or seen in videos.

I bought a few patterns from Etsy to make clothes for her, and I've been working on some of my own designs, as well. (I just love sewing these tiny seams and hems!) I'm into thrifting, antique-ing, and up-cycling found items into new and quirky artwear, or just squirreling things away that might be useful one day. My partner calls this "hoarding," but it's actually "collecting." I collect a LOT of things though, so I probably won't necessarily be collecting BJDs, rather I may end up with a few in different sizes that I'm mainly sewing clothing for. Hopefully, I stick with it.

I ordered my ResinSoul Mei from DDE at the beginning of May. She was in-stock, with a face-up, and had normal skin. She came with random eyes, which were a sort of golden brown hazel color, not bright yellow like they are in the picture. Her face-up is nice, but really subtle. Her brows and lashes are a sort of light ashy brown, and her lips are a matte coral pink. I would have liked them to be a bit darker and have had some gloss to them, but it's no big deal. I had also ordered a wig, which I liked very much, and heel feet, which I haven't used yet. I don't really have a specific character in mind for her. I just wanted to try different looks and see what I liked. I have her with green eyes now, and the wig I originally picked out. I also have a red wig that I love the color of, but the style seems a bit dramatic for every day.

I was really happy with how she was able to stand and sit. I was worried I would have trouble with it from reviews I had read, but I had no problems getting her to stand on her own, and once she was standing, she would stay where I put her until I decided to move her again. She can even stand on just one leg. It's pretty awesome. It might be better to have a doll with more joints, double joints, or more posing options. I might get more range out of her if I used wiring or sueding, but I really don't know how tight or loose she's supposed to be because I don't have anything to compare her to. For now, she stays as is, which I'm happy with.
