I used to collect other kinds of dolls a few years back, and was a feature writer for a doll magazine (Australian Doll Digest) as well as drawing paper dolls that were printed in the magazine each issue. I sold off most of my collection when I got married six years ago, and then...wouldn't you know it!...my wife started collecting. For those of you who know Blue (bluesime), she's mostly into Momoko but also has a Unoa doll and some Mamachapp. I went along with her to the Sydney meet-up a few weeks ago then decided I'd like to get a BJD of my own.

Well, it's my first time posting on this board. I'm not sure if I actually qualify as a BJD owner yet, because I just ordered my first doll yesterday - she is the Special Diana (SD size) from Blue Fairy - and I'm SO SO SO excited! >_< Unfortunately I probably won't get her for about 40 days, so maybe reading through this board and chatting will help to pass the time. Hope so. I love this doll and can't wait to see her in person.

I think I was drawn to the gentle look of the Blue Fairy girls. I don't think I'll ever have a huge collection of BJDs, but maybe just two or three that I'm really fond of (and can really spoil with clothes and stuff).

I'm also a long-time anime and manga fan, was a volunteer for several years at Animania in Sydney, but mostly we've been going to Smash! for the past four or five years. I like J-Pop and anything cute, and hope to make a return visit to Japan this year. Blue and I were at the Doll Show in Tokyo last year, and that was a blast.
