Tarek is a desert nomad, wandering for reasons only he knows. Perhaps he's searching for something, or perhaps he's running away. Whatever it is, he's not telling. During his travels he meets a strange deer mage named Nico, and against Nico's wishes, becomes his travel companion. Knowing a lot about survival and the wider world, Tarek feels responsible for the slightly younger, much more naive mage. Mostly he just ends up serving as Nico's translator to other people.
