Sumire

Maker:
Sugarble
Head Sculpt:
4R
Skintone:
Purebright
Body:
"New" Sugarsleek girl body
Sex:
Female
  • Face-up artist(s):
    Kittzel (me)
    Date of acquisition:
    May 14, 2016
    Provenance:
    Direct from Sugarble
    Reason for choice:
I had been toying with the idea of finding a small white-resin elf-eared doll to shell a character, and I liked that her body was a more mature and delicate than most tinies. It was the 40%-off clearance sale that made me take the leap, though.
    Best Points:
Cute face, beautiful delicate sculpting details in her ears and hands, pretty body, easy portable size. Also, her naga tail is way cool.
    Worst Points:
Her single-jointed arms aren't great for posing, but not the worst. Her legs, however, have TERRIBLE engineering which makes getting her to stand an eternal battle. Her faceplate doesn't attach very solidly to her head back, and can be jostled off very easily when changing her wig.
  • Eyes:
    12mm Oscar Doll red crystal
    Favourite colours:
    red, black, white
    Fashion style(s):
    Japanese-inspired or modern casual
    Key fashion accessory:
    fantasy parts
Her character is inspired in part by Japanese folklore, so her "default" look is based on kimono and hakama. She changes her clothes to fit the occasion, though (she is a shapeshifter, after all).
  • Name story:
The original idea was to shell a childhood OC, a fairy named Violet, but because I was living in Japan when I bought her I decided to alter the character into a Japanese spirit. Sumire is the Japanese name for violet (the flower, not the color).
    Character age:
    Pre-adolescent, about 6 or 7
    Character gender:
    female
    Offsite roleplay:
This doll's character is not available for offsite roleplay.

Thank you! I love the Sugarsleeks and I'm surprised they weren't more popular when they were available. The new line is a little bit too chunky for me but the faces are still cute.

She is adorable! The floofy ears are amazing>.<

Thanks! It took three tries to get to this point (brushed yarn wefts sewn to a crocheted core), and I think it'll take one more to get the more flowy look I was really going for... The poofiness of the yarn always makes the final product larger than I expect!

Oh that's awesome! Crochet base huh? Im a begginer crocheter myself, so its awesome to see one of the many uses. Do you want less floofy or more floofy?

I want it to be more floof on a smaller base, so the fluff is longer and silkier but the ears overall are not any bigger. The problem is that the base is too big so I had to cut the fluff down to size and it got short and fuzzy.
