Warning - the background of my main characters are of a Crime Lord and his pet Serial Killer. It gets bloody.

    ---

Parker was a failed medical student, something he felt really defined a certain facet of his life. He'd gone to medical school, he'd done well enough to gain a residency at a hospital, and he'd cracked under the pressure. What more was there to say?

These days he was content to stay at home and work on his digital art. No timelines, no limits, no pressure. He drew what he liked when he liked and occasionally left the house to take more reference photos. Parker hated it when he did that, especially if Remi left without saying something but he took Boris with him so what was the problem? Anything Remi left behind the bodyguard would make sure nothing got tracked back to Remi or Parker.

As if anyone would look at him and think 'serial killer'. No, that tag was for Parker who wore a smirk like a second skin and had been under police watch for years longer than Remi had known him. No, Remi was the sweet-faced artist who knew nothing of Parker's work among the Crime Kings of their city. Remi had failed medical school, he was nothing. A nobody. Certainly not someone used to being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night to sew someones ear back on. Or hack it off depending on the situation.

Funny how some big, strong, manly-men covered in tattoos couldn't bare to look him in the face after sawing someones arm off. They could rob a house or beat someone half to death, but somehow Remi was the scary one. Parker would just kiss him on the cheek and send him home whenever Remi complained about it, telling him that was his face that scared the thugs, not his actions.

Boris had agreed. According to him it was how Remi never even blinked at some of the things he'd been asked to use his medical knowledge for. How he'd make comments about his grocery list when elbows-deep in someones guts. His utter lack of care was terrifying.

...perhaps that was why Parker had brought the kid home. Trying to find something that would keep Remi too busy to go out on his own. Remi would have preferred another rabbit to some random teenager, but Parker was attached now so he guessed the boy could stay. Still- worst anniversary present ever.

.....and Remi totally did not bring home a daughter in some sort of petty revenge tactic either. She had red hair just like Parker, and wasn't it the statistical average for a family to have two kids? So it was perfectly logical. Good thing Boris liked kids well enough, Remi had no idea what to do with either of them and left it up to the bodyguard to figure out schooling and house rules.
