Best Points:

Droopy elf ears!! & her eye colour tends to change shades with lighting. Also her balance is actually pretty good, especially with shoes.

Worst Points:

Kicky & extremely limited posing, especially coming from Azone's Pure Neemo series...but kind of to be expected at the price point.

The third doll I ordered, but first to arrive since she was in-stock. Def ordered out of impatience, ha. Mirai is the first BJD I've ever laid hands on. I was a bit nervous about having to do her face-up but I think it turned out alright! I didn't want anything fancy. Which also sums up why I was alright with buying an $88 doll in the first place - nothing fancy, I just wanted to get my feet wet. BJDs, as I'm learning, are a whole different animal from mechanical joint dolls. Like, what even are glass eyes? Why do the pupils disappear? What is elastic and why did anyone ever think it was okay to use on a doll? We shall see, ha.

So we've learned her pupils disappear because her eyes are cones instead of spheres. Denver Doll Emporium said this isn't considered a defect so they won't do anything about it, so for now, Mirai has a character quirk.

She is positive and calm, friendly and social - just the sort of person you'd want when starting a small colony of people from many different backgrounds that will all need to cohabilitate. We are lucky to have her. Sumire gets along best with Mirai, which is particularly releaving as there wasn't anyone in particular Sumire really got on with until now. Mirai also helped to quickly warm Anabell to the group as well. She's not quite the "mom friend" - she won't really "baby" you - but she's definitely the "friend friend"...or something.

She's an elf of some sort so she casually knows a bit of magic. You'll mostly catch her nonchalantly floating things around her like books or cups or ipads. She's also quite skilled at keeping cups of tea and the like the perfect temperature. These, along with a few other parlor tricks such as snapping to light small fires, and, similarily, blowing out small fires from across the room (we're talking single-wick candles here). Her signature move is "INDEX THUMB FINGER TASER!!" (you have to shout it) where she generates a small current between her index finger and thumb and delivers a weak shock...it feels about like a bad static shock, but she makes a cute "bzzt!" sound with her voice so it's kind of almost worth it maybe. She developed this technique after coming into contact with humans, of course.
