Reason for choice:

Ringdoll had a sale deal for him where he cost about $400 dollars for a fullset. I couldn't easily consider buying a fullset before since most of Ringdolls were pretty hefty, so were Dollfies, and I had trouble figuring out a good starter on sites like Denver Doll Emporium, BJDivas, or Junkyspot. In the midst of an internship, I thought... I should treat myself. So I did!

Best Points:

I love his faceup and his eyes- he's very expressive, and whatever way I turn his head feels like a slight change in expression. His clothing is also very detailed without being a pain to put on, minus those damn pants. It all makes logical sense and despite not coming with an information booklet, I think I dressed him very well. He has such pretty, silky hair, and the fact that the wig uses a lacefront felt so ingenious to me. Admittedly, he's my first ever doll that's bigger than a Lil Fairy, but he's just so detailed and extravagant. His sculpt is beautiful, the body has so much detail that it almost feels a shame to cover it up! But for the sake of propriety, I must- all that beautiful clothing would be a waste!

Worst Points:

His body is quite stiff at first, and this might just be because he's so brand spanking new. I somehow managed to turn one of his legs entirely around when I tried to make him sit, and getting his pants on was a NIGHTMARE. Note to self- do not dress a doll with an uh, intimate attachment in front of parents. Also, the free stand that came with the doll had an issue- the screw for adjustments stripped really easily. My dad had to tape it and now is considering drilling a new hole. Also, trying to keep that hairline pristine is not easy, I may need styling gel, a piece is already separating!

Name story:

I chose the name Lan Hua because I didn't just want to call him Zhou Yu. The character 岚 means "mountain mist" and reminds me of MDZS in a way, though the official concept was from the Three Kingdoms. 华 doesn't mean flower, but instead "splendid, illustrious". Together, he's a splendid mountain mist!
