She was originally named Kaylee Stevens but changed her name to Katie Grayson when she was 18 as her brother and her best friend never called her Kaylee (and she didn't wasn't her step father's last name anymore). I had originally named her Kate after Kate Austen from Lost untill she developed into her own character

Katie grew up in the north west (mainly Wyoming and Montana). She grew up with an abusive step father. When she was 14 she, she stayed on her biological brother's farm and met Max, who at first bullied her but later became her best friend and lover. Because of her connections with Max and several others (including Jake, the warden of the mental facility both her and Max were at one point committed to Jake's father Chris and many others) she ended up getting mixed up in some odd government experiments that started in the 50s and restarted in current days. She was moved into the facility (an outdoor experiment area) where she is now trying to survive with her best friend/lover.
