Reason for choice:

I wanted a friend or sister for Mattie, in a similar style. While Geuru isn't quite the same style, as soon as I saw pictures of her, I knew I needed her before Haru discontinued her.

Name story:

I wanted something that reflected her chaotic and fiery energy. I liked the name "Kali", after the Hindu goddess of time, death, and destruction, but I wasn't quite sold. I then came across "Kalina", which is the Ukrainian/Russian name of a certain species of shrub (viburnum opulus) that is steeped in folklore, and the more I read about it, the more it fit her.
