Purchased from CharmeC here on DoA. She had history of purchasing this doll in her feedback from another DoA member many years prior. I am at least the third owner.

Reason for choice:

I really love all of the Volks Rozen Maiden sculpts. Hinaichigo is the only tiny doll I’ve ever wanted to have in my collection.

Best Points:

Her big round eyes and pout is the best part of her! I also really love how solid Volks dolls feel.

Worst Points:

None! She is a bit yellowed, but that’s to be expected from a doll of her age (made in 2007).

Hina is a really special doll to me, as is the character Hinaichigo from Rozen Maiden.

I first saw Rozen Maiden when I was 20, about a year after I moved out of my parents’ home. My youngest sister was 7 when I left. Hinaichigo reminded me of my sister so much — they both have big green eyes and blonde curls, love pink, loved strawberries, and they’re also both 6 out of 7 dolls/kids. I missed her a lot when I moved, and so Hinaichigo became a really special character to me.

Age 20 was also when I got interested in the BJD hobby, and with that, this doll sculpt also became special. Volks Hinaichigo had been on my wishlist since I got into this hobby — a grail really since she was rather expensive back in 2009!

I had a very long hiatus from the hobby and Hina was the first doll I acquired since returning. She’s certainly the most meaningful doll I could have added to my collection at any time, but it’s felt extra special now.

The current wig is straighter, but this is meant to be easier for maintenance as an every day wig. Most wigs I get for Hina I’d like to have some curls to them. Though honestly the straight hair works too, my sister straightens hers now.

I am hoping to sew clothes for her, but Yo-SD is definitely very new territory for me! I will have to make a lot of patterns. I’d like Hina to wear cute childlike dresses sometimes, but I would also like to make clothes for her that are inspired by my sister’s very boho style. Eventually she will have a new face-up. Right now it’s the original.
