Gabrys is the youngest of three brothers, the prince who was never expected to amount to much, until the king of the neighbouring country decided to make theirs part of his own. Overnight the brothers were plunged into war that saw the two eldest take to the battlefield and Gabrys left behind in the castle, planning their battles from safety.

Over time, both brothers fell and Gabrys was left with only two choices: marry Ardashir, the neighbouring king, and assure the safety of his people--or fight until there was no one left.

In the interests of keeping his people alive, he chose the former.
