Esme

Maker:
Dollshe
Head Sculpt:
Diana
Skintone:
Copper Oriental
Body:
16F
Sex:
Female
  • Face-up artist(s):
First faceup unknown, current Angel Toast
    Date of acquisition:
    2020
    Provenance:
Purchased from a friend in Russia who goes by the name of Esme Weatherfax. Because of what we went through together I named the doll after her.
    Reason for choice:
I was visiting a friend of mine and she showed me her doll and I immediately fell in love with her. After ordering her through Dollshe and finding out she would take years to get I purchased her second hand not wanting to wait.
    Best Points:
She has a beautiful face sculpt
    Worst Points:
The leg joints are weak and break on the sides. Two years is a long time to wait.
It was right about the time that Covid struck the world when I purchased her second hand from a friend in Russia. Due to Covid it took a little longer to deliver but when the piece of cardboard that once was her box came in the mail with just the delivery address on it, it was quite the shock. I couldn't believe the post office marked it as delivered. What followed was a three month dramatic search by both myself and my friend (who I got to know much better and she even offered to send me another doll) that was a 3 month long experience. Needless to say we finally found her in the bowels of the lost package warehouse within the postal system and she was ultimately delivered in one piece. An because of the monumental effort I named the doll after my new found friends online name.

This is Esme the day she arrived after being lost in the mail.

  • Name story:
Esme was named after the friend I bought her from after going through an intense experience with the post office that we did together, I also incorporated her nationality from that experience.
New to the United States, I didn't take long for her to capture Wyatt's attention. Wyatt (5th Motif Venitu) a motorcycle mechanic was out for a ride near the college and saw her sitting by herself on a bench looking a little out of place. Needless to say it wasn't long until they became friends and started hanging out together.
    Character age:
    20
    Character gender:
    Female
    Offsite roleplay:
This doll's character is not available for offsite roleplay.

Wow - congratulations that lovely Esme has two sisters, Contessa (Tess) and Bailey <3 <3
My knowledge of the crazy things about Dollshe and the orders. The $350 offers are/were so-called group orders - read the small print ;-)
30 Diana's had to be ordered to produce them for the low cost of $350. That's why there were longer waiting times - the 30 pieces had to be reached first.
If you didn't want to wait that long, you just had to dig deeper into your pockets. Many people overlooked this and demonized Dollshe for it.
My third 16F is a Natalie Portman ^_^
Thank you very much for your comprehensive answer / information <3
Despite all the hype surrounding Dollshe, the lovely Diana is a great addition to any BJD collection!
And I love your picture creations!

Serves me right I guess for not reading the fine print. I had no idea that's why the price was so cheap. I got them both for that price though. Natalie Portman.....would love to see her!

Natalie from Dollshe was a disappointment for me. I thought she would be more like the photos of Mathilda from Leon: The Professional. But as with Johnny Depp, I don't buy from Dollshe based on original star photos... I was able to use her as Padmé: - https://www.flickr.com/photos/jl_the_lion/52790070131

She's so beautiful! And what a story behind her! I'm glad she was found, that had to have felt nearly hopeless!

It was pretty intense but the fact that the seller and I became really good friends working together to solve the problem actually made it very memorable especially after she was found. I still can't believe the happy ending!

I related to your story so much as my last doll was lost by FedEx but marked as delivered. A different ending, he was never found, nothing ever arrived in my apartment complex at all, but the company did replace him for me as his loss was largely due to them not notifying me he had ever shipped. What an experience that was. A kind soul on Instagram even offered to sell me their doll if the company chose not to replace him for me and refund me instead. It was a rollercoaster to say the least, I don't think I'll ever forget it.
Anyways huge congrats on getting your beautiful girl, she is absolutely stunning!! I'm so happy you got her in the end <3

Glad the company replaced him for you! I still can't believe the post office marks packages that are destroyed delivered without a single description stating what state they are in. How is the person sending you the item going to know you're not trying to pull one over on them. But alas it is a mute point now the work it took to find her was phenomenal. This form, that form, ........

My congratulations to the enchanting Esme <3
I also have two of these wonderful Diana's. And there are parallels in the exciting story to Esme. I had been waiting for the arrival of the first Diana for two years when a dear friend from the UK offered me a Diana <3
So now I have Avril and Madison in my family. Two BJDs I wouldn't want to be without.
It scares me to hear about the problems with the leg joints! I have three 16F bodies and all of them are still intact.
Despite all this, your Esme is a dream and very desirable :love
And you created wonderful pictures/artworks with Esme! <3 <3 <3

Dollshe was doing weird things the two years I waited for the Diana I ordered. One day they were over $800 to order one the next like $350.00. So in the process I actually ordered two. I figured if I had to wait two years might as well wait for two. Both of them were the cheaper price. I now have three. Contessa (Tess) and Bailey. Thanks for you comments!
