Cerise Vauquelin is the oldest and most unruly daughter of a senator and a fire mage. Cerise has a rather challenging personality, to put it kindly. Stubborn and independent, everything about her seems to be honed to the edge of a knife—even her sense of humor has an edge to it. It isn’t that she means to be cruel, but she often speaks before thinking and isn’t prone to compromise. Cerise wants to burn bright and to burn high; she doesn’t care if she burns herself out, as long as the flame is glorious before it’s snuffed out. Fame and glory, and all the power that comes with it—the power to live her life as she pleases, whatever that means. To make her mark on the world, whether it wants her to or not.
