Rafayeh is really REALLY tightly strung, so if you can't get her head off by yourself, definitely enlist a friend for help. And be sure to get that s hook in the little groove on the neck once you do pull it through so it doesn't escape, otherwise you'll have a real struggle on your hands getting her restrung again. It happened to me and it was AWFUL. I'm good at stringing her head now, though, so it'll get easier with some practice.

Raffi shouldn't have this problem thankfully - all her faceplates are magnetic instead, so it should be a little easier to put eyes in.

It was so tightly strung that the hook slid out the placement: fortunately the holes were small and it got stuck in the second neck piece! I managed to take it out, but only with the help of my mom who was keeping the elastic band with the pliers while I was putting back on the pieces.. I wouldn't have done it without help

Yes!! Being so tightly strung, I couldn't see anything inside and already know what to look for was necessary
They really should add some instructions

 

I am waiting on my pink Rafayeh from BJDivas - hopefully they receive it soon and can ship! Has anyone else seen pink ones from the latest release in the wild yet? Oh wow the eye thing sounds scary!

 

I got mine from bjdivas at the end of january! So maybe you won't have to wait that much longer :3

 

My Rafayeh is coming from bjdivas as well. Ive just got the tracking number today. Mine is in dark green, can't wait to se her!. but yes the way to put in eyes sound like no easy task, im NOT looking forward to that..:S

She actually reminds me a bit of Cuartosdolls Jormungand, and I would not be mad if they started going in the same direction as cuartos did.

After hearing about the US getting rid of de minimus for China by May 2nd, I reached out to Whale Tower to see how my dark green Raffi was coming along, since May will technically be 5ish months from when I ordered her.

Sadly, they got back to me and said she'd likely be ready in July. They're going to underdeclare her, but there's still likely going to be tariffs. Those who ordered a Raffi, be prepared for that and start saving up now. Stupid trade war....

 

Whale Tower released their Snake Bone series - two snakes, big and small, plus a stylized 75cm dude to go with them.

I paid deposit for the small snake today, through Whale Tower's Taobao store. It's gonna be my first pet/creature BJD! Production time is 6 months, so I guess I'll be in this room for the rest of the year.

 

My Raffi that I ordered through Taobao just came in today through my agent, so just a little over 6 months. I also ordered one through Whaletower themselves, but no word that one arrived yet.

 

I emailed them as soon as I saw this post, and my dark green Raffi with every face plate is shipping this week! It'll be a race - will she get here before Resin Rose!?

EDIT - Just paid the shipping fee. It's UPS, so she has a chance, but it's gonna be cloooose!

 

I checked in today with WT about the status of the Snake Bone release - I ordered the Small Snake from their Taobao store. WT replied that they will only ship after Chinese new year, which means late February at the earliest. I suspect they'll ship in March.

I've been waiting for this doll for 7.5 months already, I'm still keen on it.

 

I saw on Dolcedolls insta that the shipping for the Snake release was going to be delayed to February....I can wait...I currently have no idea where I would display these since I ordered a big snake as well as the smaller version...so gives me time to clean up a bit to make room, haha.

 

@middletails Hi, nice to know someone else joined that preorder too! I considered buying the Big Snake, but decided it's too big and unwieldy to play with and display with my 1/3 crew. So I got the Small Snake instead, I think it'll fit in better with the others. I am keen to see pics of Big Snake though, and how big it actually is - please share whenever you receive your snakes!

 

@aihre I will definately share once I received my snakes! I don't have any ideas atm on how to paint them...I was thinking of looking at real life snakes, I know they come in some really nice colors.

 

@middletails My plan is to look at real snakes too. In terms of colours, I'm going for a fantasy look, I've been tossing up a violet/cyan/gold colour scheme. I hope to get some inspiration from real life for snake patterning while using a fantasy colour scheme. My little snake is an avatar of one of my human angel characters, so when it arrives I hope to paint both snake and human head together in a similar colour scheme!

I've also found a really good Chinese aesthetics artist (Furfur) on Weibo who specializes in painting creature/animal BJDs, including a few spectacular Rafayehs and Raffis -- I'm definitely going to look to them for inspiration even though my skills are nowhere close. XD This is their Weibo account, I'm sure they're also on Rednote/XHS with a similar name.
