Miracledoll Discussion Thread

Dec 23, 2013

    1. I asked Alice about wait times for Miracle Doll a little while ago, and they said that the current wait time was around 5-8 months. I'm sure that it completely depends on what you ordered.

    2. Thank you very much! I was thinking of asking Alice's too!
Well, it's good to know, and something to think about. If the company has been reliable so far, it might still be worth considering.

    3. Did you all order through Alice? Or direct on Taobao via Superbuy or similar?

    4. I have not ordered yet. I wanted to know what they were like to deal with, and whether their resin colours would work for my purposes.

    5. It seems like Miracle Doll does offer color matching to some other companies so maybe one of them would work. Alice did say resin matches aren’t 100% but I already kind of figured that matching some artist heads perfectly would be difficult anyway.

    6. My body was ordered from Clover Singing.

    7. I ordered a head from Miracle Doll via Alice's in April 2022 and received it in December 2022. When I ordered I asked Alice's about the wait time they told me the estimated wait time for Miracle Doll is about 8 months.

    8. Does anyone have a good memory and possibly recall if Miracle Doll bodies ever go on sale for more than 10% with Alice?

    9. Has anybody here bought the 65 cm Miracle Doll Supermodel body with heel and flat feet? And if so, are the heel feet actually 1 cm longer (8 cm) than the flat feet (7 cm) ? I just received a pair of MD heeled feet from Alice's and they look like they are for a bigger doll - but Alice's says that they are not, according to Miracle Doll. Maybe they use one size of heeled feet for both the 65 cm and 68 cm muscle body? That would be weird. Pleae let me know if you have any information on this.
      Thank you!!

    10. Does anyone know if the 68cm ver. 3 male body has been discontinued? It's gone from Alice's collections, new clover singing and legend doll, but I never saw a discontinuation post :(
If it is, I really hope they make another 68cm body with a similar look to it!

    11. @maryw13 It may have been. I just checked MD's Taobao page and while the page for the body is still up, it's listed at a price that usually means the item is sold out. Unfortunate, if that's the case since I wanted to buy at least one more.

    12. @maryw13 If you do, please report back! I don't have the funds at the moment, so would hate to ask and then not purchase it.

    13. If anyone has a Maoyou beast body, how does she pose? @Follow-the-Wind made a post and the body looks amazing but it was two years ago. I really love these tall and slim DollChateau style fantasy bodies but I'm put off of them because it seems that they often don't pose that good; and I don't know about Miracle Doll but these bodies strike me more as display-oriented objects that you wouldn't want to touch that often. Am I wrong? Maybe I'm just making excuses for passing on Maoyou's last available orders. She's sold out everywhere now...

    14. I didn't handle it a lot, and I sold it earlier this year (I needed space). But yeah, it was quite a good body for make it stand, but that was all... so it is more a display-oriented body.

    15. Thank you for the answer! I'm still new so I might be getting some preconceptions from reading around. It's a pity you had to sell it. That character looked amazing.

    16. How long are miracledolls wai ttimes? Ive been eyeing the muscular girl msd body, not fully sure on it yet, so if anyone has it PLEASE please let me know how you like it and what you think of it

    17. Pretty long, I know others were quoting 5-8 months and I believe it. I ordered a doll back in November of 2023 and the only word I've gotten about it is that it'll take longer than Summer still :sigh

At least you can be sure what you ordered will look exactly like the model. Miracle Doll does a very good job of staying true to sculpt.

The one complaint I have with their dolls are their joints which I'm not a big fan of.

      _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Did anyone else order the 76cm Leopard Girl Body from MiracleDoll? I'm curious to see if anyone's received her yet?

    18. Thank you!!!
      What about their joints?

    19. This does vary on some of their sculpts for example I noticed the new 76cm muscle girl seems to have fixed it (at least I REALLY hope so), but the ankle joints are ball shaped with almost no leverage to keep them from slipping or hold them in place. I also unfortunately have a 3 part torso and it's exceptionally difficult to pose with, slips everywhere. Will need some adjustments for sure.

With the ankle and torso being an issue my girl needs a lot of support to stand :(

    20. Is this the sort of thing that can be fixed with sueding? I'm thinking of getting a doll on the 68cm boy body but if it's a terrible poser I might be better off looking into a hybrid with the head I want. I am willing to try modding a body once I get enough practice with smaller mods, so if there is something that can be done there as well (such as this mod here), it's worth knowing.

    21. Thanks! Would hot glue sueding help?

    22. @Cattya @JJ3_dolls

I'm sorry I've haven't attempted to mod her yet, I honestly couldn't say if sueding would help

I most likely will sell the 68cm body once I receive the 76cm Muscle Girl :sweat Although I love the sculpt and anatomy of the sculpt I wanted a taller girl.

I do believe sueding would be better suited for the torso joint and would help prevent as much slippage from occuring but for the ankle I dont think it'll assist much.

Let me get some closer pictures to show how it connects

    25. Thanks to my wonderful buddy who buys these bodies and then decides they don't like them, I have 2 68-cm muscular female bodies, and today, I got the 76-cm muscular female body.
      I am in love.
I'm putting an Iplehouse Doria on one of the 68-cm bodies - she's going to be a buff Tilda Swinton Chronicles of Narnia White Witch.
The second head was claimed by Souldoll Duke of Arhanian's head.
And the 76 cm body? CrossFit Maleficent.

The joint openings are enormous. I'm using huge silicone washers to add friction, and I can fit a pretty honking sized washer in there.
I gotta take some pictures and get their outfits together. Man, I love these dolls.
Zhi Shen's head went on a Luts Type 5 body - she's going to be my Harley Quinn.

    26. Popping in real quick to see if anyone has any info on the Baiye adult version they teased on their IG? I checked out their Taobao and it looks like it's limited to previous customers, unless I missed a separate listing (which is totally possible, I was only using Google translate). Really hoping to get my hands on one!

    27. How long did you have to wait for your miracle doll orders to arrive? Im considering getting the female msd body

    28. It took 8 months for my 68cm body to arrive. But that was 12/23. The ankle arrived damaged (two big chips). It took a year to get replacements and there is a color difference. Haven’t considered any Miracle Dolls since. But this is just my experience.

    29. oh that doesnt sound great :( thanks for sharing!

    30. It was 5 months for 68cm slim body, but that was back in 21/22.

    31. I've ordered two dolls from them, both times it took 8-9 months.

    32. I think it took me 4-5 months to get my muscular 68 cm girl body a couple years back--I ordered through New Clover Singing, which helped. I currently have an order to them, through Alice's Collections, so I'll be able to tell you if they're the same speed. One thing that I have heard--I don't know 100% if its accurate--is that it's much faster to order through any dealer that is not Divas, and or that is not in the US, because MD ships smaller batches more often to the chinese dealers, because its so much cheaper for them to send dolls within china than it is to send the same stuff to the US.

    33. My doll with the broken ankles and replaced legs was through Cloversinging. I contacted her every three months and knew it was not her fault since I have bought many dolls from her. She told me Miracle Doll is very slow (even for her).

    34. Anyone have suggestions for good jointed hands to match Miracle Doll normal resin/their 68cm slim body? I'm not a big fan of the position of the fingers on the hands that came with my Ian, and they also seem rather roughly sanded for some reason. The character I'm shelling needs posable hands anyway, so I'm not too worried about the quality of the static hands since I figured I'd be replacing them. But fwiw if anyone is considering Miracle Doll the sanding between fingers isn't that clean.

(re: the current convo, I ordered through New Clover Singing, my blank Ian head/body with extra feet parts took 7 months or therabouts from ordering to being shipped. NCS was awesome and very accommodating, especially with my worry that he was lost in the mail due to some shipping delays (that were ultimately due to USPS issues, nothing on NCS or Miracle's end- NCS offered to re-order the doll if he was confirmed lost, which helped my anxiety a lot), but ultimately, he made it safe, and other than some roughness in some parts sanding wise, there was no damage or other issues.)

    35. If anyone's interested, I've ordered a 1/4 boy body (ver. 3, 47cm, normal skin) back in September, and now it's finally ready! So six months for production in total, plus about three weeks for shipping (I haven't received the body just yet). God I hope it arrives without any cracks! This body is my final hope for making my Dollmore Alex an msd size doll (the head is huge and originally has a big baby body).

    36. Well I have discovered my MiracleDoll Ian on the default slim body REFUSES to stand. Which is annoying because I found he looks really good in certain poses with his oversized shoes (I accidentally got them a size too big, but they absolutely suit the anime character look I'm going for) which may actually be partially the culprit (I've heard too-big shoes can be "stuffed" so I will be looking into ways to keep that from affecting how he stands negatively) but either he is still too tightly strung to actually allow more subtle poses or I just have to accept that the body will need work and isn't as well engineered as I would like.

I'm going to try wiring him, but for the moment I'm hoping to just get a stand for him I can edit out of photos somehow. He also won't sit upright when his legs are fully out and I have no idea why. His thigh joint kips might be interfering somehow?

Anyway at least he has pants now (Lomi's Playground on YouTube has a great basic leggings tutorial) and I plan to work on his outfit and wig, and am making a mockup for my attempt at a faceup... I don't have any good pics right now, if nothing else I am waiting for daylight again, but I'm glad I can have him somewhere other than the shelf in my room now that he is decent.

But damn. I didn't realize that everyone who said 1/3s were a literal handful and exhausting to carry around for too long were absolutely correct.

Also, still on the lookout for jointed hands/recs, I have some in mind but they're all from China and I'm in the USA so. no luck with that for now, unforch.

    37. @Cattya I haven't handled my body in quite a while, but I don't remember having problems getting it to stand, but it's true the body could be better engineered.

Here's a thread on my some updates I did to the body, because I did experience the body not wanting to sit up straight.

    38. My Ian (who I jokingly call "Shigadolly" because he is a character/"cos doll" based off of Tomura Shigaraki from BNHA) still has trouble standing freely but I think it may be a matter of the shoes being too big for him, might try ordering new ones from ACBJD now the tariff nonsense is less new. Or actually get around to stuffing the shoes with something, idk.

He and my Dabi (DollZone Jake on Resinsoul body, still a WIP without his scars) joined me when I went to a convention last weekend!! The cat backpacks you can find on Amazon really work well for dolls of his size. Shigs fits with his knee joints fully bent, his head touching the top of the "bubble" actually keeps him in place pretty well! Dabi was flopping around a lot but Shigs stayed put reasonably well.

He has a wig I made (first attempt!) that looks okayish alone and works well with the hoodie I got him, if a little long on its own. He needs his in-series outfit, but for now this is him and Dabi in their containment unit with Shigs really excited to travel, it seems, and Dabi in the back there trying to pretend he's not interested. c:

Shigs's "faceup" is just some penciled-on scars and mole over a base coat of MSC for the moment, I fully intend to paint something more official but I needed it done quick for the con and I don't trust myself not to ruin a full faceup in the time I had between working on cosplay.

His mouth part was painted by me as my technically-second ever attempt at BJD faceup work, I ended up not painting the teeth themselves because of fear of messing up, and, again, time constraints. The watercolor on the tongue kind of overlaps on the teeth a bit, but hopefully not enough to be too noticeable. Unfortunately with his proper eyes in the paint on the tongue looks a bit cartoonishly bright in a way I'm not fond of.

I'm getting used to him being a bigger doll and am almost tempted to create a bigger Dabi as well to match, but for now Lil' Dabi is my main focus for that character, even if he is [name redacted due to spoilers]-moding at the moment. :D iykyk

@Cloudedmind I actually did see your thread, it helped me decide I liked the look of the MiracleDoll body! :D I possibly should have paid more attention to the posing complaints though, because I'm also not too wild about the engineering... if I get enough confidence I might attempt to emulate your mod, but I want to avoid taking this guy apart for as long as possible since I've never restrung anything bigger than 1/4 scale and it was already so hard to be able to get his head on in the first place I worry I won't have the strength to put him back together again if the string has actual tension... D: Not to mention the anxiety over making modifications to a doll myself is intimidating. But I will keep it in mind for someday!!

Also, for anyone reading this, if anyone has recs for good jointed hands and what color works best with MiracleDoll normal, I would still very much love any suggestions. Ian's default hands really do not suit Shigaraki at all, unfortunately.

    39. Stacy's Pink Ocean agreed to have a Melanie made for me back in April and I am trying very hard to be chill about it considering I am not realistically expecting this to arrive until winter. I was surprised but thrilled they were able to arrange this considering how old the design is and they already have a new version of their 65cm girl. I assume pressure on doll companies facing impending tariffs at the time were raising concerns about being able to stay afloat, and a payment up front may have helped.

I have looked through this thread trying to find an answer, and I apologize if I missed a post, but does anyone know of a good substitute for hands on the version two 65cm in normal? In pictures she is suffering a somewhat serious case of sausage fingers and I am not hopeful she's better in person!

    40. @werepope congrats on getting a Melanie ordered, hopefully by the time yours is ready to ship the... person(for lack of some choicier words)... ordering all these tariffs will have backed down again like the last several times. I do think it is very good for companies to still be getting orders despite all this since I also worry about the state of the hobby being affected by this stuff, I can only hope that USAmericans are not so huge a chunk of the market to have the (hopefully temporary) loss of access be too devastating. I am pretty sure lines of shipping will open up again eventually so you should be able to get your doll at some point... but aside from all this doomer nonsense, I'd love to read about your plans for your doll! Still being able to buy older designs is so great, I know stuff gets discontinued for reasons that can include things like the mold running out of uses or something, but it's always such a pleasant surprise when a doll that you might have thought harder to get turns out to be still available!

In my case, I'm hoping to actually attempt a more serious faceup for my Ian I call "Shigadolly" (who I also didn't expect to be able to get when I first discovered the sculpt existed hehe) but I have definitely been noticing more of the posing issues that I could have read about previously in this thread had I looked. I still prefer the aesthetic of the 68cm slim body for the character but for someone whose entire fight style involves grabbing people with his bare hands and turning them into dust, having arms that can only hold 3 positions is kind of an issue. Since I eventually plan on emulating Cloudedmind's thigh mod when I get confident enough, I figure I might as well look into arm posability mods as well if wiring ends up not solving the problem.

I also am still interested in recs for jointed hands or alternative hands in general, I saw earlier in the thread that Doll Legend (?) used to be a good match awhile back but upon looking for more info they seem to have have either taken a long hiatus or shut down so... back to the drawing board there. Unfortunately being in the USA with the tariff nonsense going on it's not likely I can order jointed hands in the near future anyway, so I'm focusing on other things at the moment for him like styling the wig more and attempting a higher quality faceup than the pencil scribbles he currently has. I'm actually going to work on seeing if the pencil is removable without a full wipe tomorrow and possibly experiment some with watercolor pencils instead. I might post progress pics in the appropriate forum if I don't forget it exists again-

    41. New I wish you the best of luck in your modding endeavors, @Cattya! It's all very far advanced for me! Melanie will be arriving today, just a couple weeks shy of a year since I ordered her! I will likely be making another post with a few pictures when she does, but I did want to take a moment and let you know about my own tariff/import fees with this purchase, since it's so recent and after the SCOTUS tariff decision.

I ordered through Stacy's Pink Ocean who I believe is located in Shanghai based on our communication. I was notified on March 10th that the doll had arrived there from the artist. I was then provided a UPS tracking number to me here in the States. The package shipped to me from Korea, which I thought was interesting since I know that the doll was in Shanghai when received by Stacy. Presumably this was a way to avoid a high import cost and it worked!

I received an email on March 16th that my package was with customs and would require payment of fees, either online now or on delivery with an extra fee for waiting. For a doll that I paid about $600, the fee was $25. I do not know the value it was declared at but presumably that is something I could find out if I wanted to, through UPS or on the paperwork when it arrives.

I hope this helps with concerns about tariffs! I picked the exact wrong time to order this doll but I am glad I did when I did! The artist's willingness to make a doll that had not been produced for so long might have been influenced by the fact that they were predicting a drop in sales and I paid up front with no layaway, so it must have been worth their while because it was work!

As I understand it, the artist agreed to make this doll for me before they checked the mold was in good condition. Turns out it wasn't and it had to be remade. But good news for anyone else who might have been eyeing this lovely sculpt, she's got a brand new mold! This might be just the time to ask about getting her!

If you are still looking for recommendations, try Telesthesia and Dragon normal yellow.

Be prepared for a plethora of fabulous hand options. T&D has different hand sizes for each of their bodies, and their jointed hands come in different sizes, too. Don't just order off ACBJD.com - email A first.

T&D is a hair paler than my MD normal body, but 1) it's a relatively easy/quick color fix, if it bothers you that much, and 2) it's hands.

    43. New Has anyone talked about the special limited 10th anniversary version of Baiye that Miracle Doll released? I can barely find any info about it, but there's one in stock on Alice's Collections right now (with pictures of the blank head in the 1/4 Xing Rui boy body listing). This version of the face is so sweet, I think it's my favorite version of him--I'd be so tempted if I wasn't trying to save my money for dolls I already have plans for, haha.

Thanks, I wish me luck as well! Carving up expensive resin is a daunting prospect, I probably won't get around to it for a while yet but I definitely want to improve my Shigadolly's posing when I'm a bit more confident.

I hope everything went smoothly with your Melanie's arrival! I appreciate the info about tariffs as well, it's useful to have some idea of how this sort of thing is working considering all the chaos about it.

Thank you so much for the recommendation!! They do indeed appear to have a variety of sizes, I still need to get around to measuring Shigs' wrists to figure out the right one but I think that brand is what I'm going with. The hands on the ACBJD listing appear to have a bit stubby-looking fingers, but that may be the angle- the page on Legend Doll (which I think may be another dealer for T&D if I understand correctly?) shows them looking a lot better. That may be dependent on which size is shown, however, so I will measure my doll and figure out from there, probably asking ACBJD for more pics if possible since I have had good experiences ordering through them before.

I especially appreciate shipping from ACBJD being tariff-free, though I'm a little nervous about not being able to choose the shipping method; I've heard horror stories about FedEx recently, but idk if ACBJD uses them for last mile or something else. At least going through a trustworthy dealer will mean that any issues will be handled reasonably... but yeah, shipping in general to the USA from elsewhere has been a bit rocky lately and likely will be for a while. But Shigs needs his grabby fingers!

I have to wait until after NYC Doll Con to order them anyway, since right now my savings are going towards a shopping spree there. I already spotted a cute shirt on a vendor post I'd love to grab him if they have the right size!!

It's unfortunate and upsetting that DoA is going to shut down, but there will be plenty of time to share Shigs in whatever fun new outfits I get him before time's up, I suppose.
