I have not been active in the hobby for years and I’m looking to sell my dolls, but I’m genuinely feeling overwhelmed with doing it, so if you have any ideas on how to approach selling my collection (or links to resources on how to), I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
You have Marketplace access so you could simply list them here on DoA, or do a combination of here, and Facebook, other doll forums (if you're on them) eBay, at local doll meets/events etc. Teddy
DoA rules prevent asking about specific price ranges for sales. Looking at the Sold Dolls section of the Marketplace can give you an idea of what particular dolls have sold for, as well as looking at sales on secondhand sites like Dollyteria or Mandarake. The secondhand buying scene is very much a buyer's market at the moment: unless a doll is highly sought after, it's unlikely to sell quickly or for a high price, especially if you're outside the US like I am. The vast majority of EN hobbyists are in the US, and many US hobbyists aren't looking to buy from other countries because of the tariffs. In terms of sales-specific tips, taking clear well-lit photos is always helpful. If the dolls have any mods or damage, make sure to clearly photograph it so a potential buyer knows what they'll be receiving. The more provenance you have for the dolls – things like CoAs, original boxes, booklets, screenshots of purchase history – the better. I've had the most sales through DoA: it helps that DoA has a detailed sales form to fill that covers just about everything a buyer would want to know about a potential purchase. Since Instagram nuked their tag system, I've found it to not be a useful platform for advertising sales. There are a few BJD Discord servers around, but from what I've seen, only items sold within in the US tend to sell quickly in those online spaces. Best of luck with your sales listings!
Thank you! Did you just search on facebook, or are there parts of the forum on here that I could find something like that? Thank you so much! This was really detailed and helpful, especially since you’re coming from an international perspective (I’m in the US)
If you use Discord, the biggest server for BJDs has a sales category (though you need to be active for a few weeks before you can access it); if you use Instagram, there are a handful of accounts that will share BJD sale posts you make there, including at least one for US-based sales only! But I've definitely heard that the marketplace here is best for sales haha. (Unsure if I should link them directly...I don't see any rules against it but I'm always worried I might've missed one but if you search on google/IG they're pretty easy to find!) Best of luck!!
I did just that to search groups on Facebook. There is a big FB group you can ask which correlates to the big Discord group (BJD Addicts). The group can point you to your local area's BJD group. And hopefully from there find someone to help. Good luck!
