Hey all! After approx a year of having this account I'm finally posting an introduction since I officially have my BJD in my hands. I've been a BJD lover since I was a tween but the cost was prohibitive until recently, and I'm so glad I took the plunge and bought my doll. I was a little bold and decided to hybrid for my first purchase since I was making a character doll (Mairon/Annatar/Sauron from LOTR--my interpretation of him, not Rings of Power related). Luckily he turned out great. I went with a Doll Chateau Eudes head on a Dollzone B60-005 male body and I could hardly be happier. I was big into customizing monster high dolls for a while so I'm planning on doing the face up myself. Fingers crossed it goes well and then I will take lots of pictures of him I'm pretty big into LOTR (obviously) and very much into the elf-ish look for dolls. I'd super love to put together an accompanying Melkor/Morgoth doll at some point if I can find a face sculpt I think would suit him. Oh, and if anyone has any suggestions on where to find good elf clothes I'd be in your debt! I've been poking around but I'm surprised at how little I can find that fits that Tolkien aesthetic.
Congrats on your first doll! I love Lotr as well. And that sculpt is beautiful and omg what a perfect fit for Sauron I'm very excited to see how he turns out
Hi!! That sounds absolutely lovely, I hope you have fun with the faceup and that it turns out how you envisioned! I've no leads for elf clothes, but hopefully someone can pop into this thread and give you some pointers If all else fails, there's always the option of commissioning someone!
Thank you! Aaaa you really made my week, haha. I am excited too. Hooves crossed I do a good job of him. I am trying to base his vibe loosely off of the artist Krabat's depiction(s) of him, which I think will be very hard considering how softly painted he is in their works and the intensity of the sculpt I chose. But I did do it to myself, so... I appreciate it! I will probably end up commissioning someone at some point. I'm just so particular.
