Hey, I know the feeling! Every other DDD order I wanted in on, I had a tooth go bad and need pulled. This is a fourth time's the charm. She'll happen for you!
I decided to go for a Paulianne faceup this year, since I've always admired their work. And I was able to get a slot! I'm so excited!!
Hi, I changed my order to Aurelia & Lulleby Aurelia, not in Woodland Echo, but changed to Ghostly Moon. I am so excited! Also a bit scared too of how it will turn out… Anyone else felt tempted by that resin and ordered a doll in it? Which head(s) did you pick?
I have Charlotta human on layaway in Angelic Pink resin also the extra hands and feet as well because I might want them in the future. I didn't get an extra head because Charlotta was the only doll I've wanted since I discovered these dolls last year and missed out on last years preorder. I'm planning on getting her painted by Paulianne, my idea for her faceup is a Draculaura inspired faceup except no fangs, I think she'll look so cute, I'm excited haha. It was really tough trying to choose a resin skintone but I eventually settled on Angelic Pink because I've always wanted a pink doll. Edit: I submitted another order during the preorder period and I'm getting another girl, Lullaby Lily in Cyber Tenshi, I can't wait to see Ghostly Moon and Whiny Angel resins in person.
Thank you for this! I was wondering as well. This was very helpful. I have ordered Ursula in Caramel Forest with Lullaby Ursula as an example head, and the feral hands/feet set. I’m excited. But I’m a bit concerned that this may be the first time I get stung with customs fees. From her site it looks like she doesn’t under declare. To be fair I’m not sure I’d want her to since the package is so valuable it’d be horrible if something happened to it mid post or it went astray. Anyone have experience with DDD packages? (I’m in NZ and if goods are over 1000NZD they’re subject to fees etc)
@Buzzibee I'm from the UK and I got stung with custom fees. She definitely won't underdeclare. I had to pay 20% of the total value in fees and considering I bought 2 dolls it was a big chunk of money. Maybe you could ask if she'd send the extra head and hands and feet in a separate parcel so then you'd have 2 parcels under (hopefully) 1000 instead of one over 1000. Obviously you'd pay extra shipping, but if that's cheaper than the custom charges it might be something to consider?
Does anyone know if she marks the County of Origin as Poland or China (since I think F Doll casted the last preorder)? I'm trying to mentally prepare myself since I live in the US and I'd need to budget for the insane tariff if marked as Made in China. I don't think it was last time I ordered, but I don't 100% remember
Iirc she marks the origin as Poland!! I’m in Canada, so it doesn’t matter much to me what country the origin is, but I think it’s Poland. I’d budget for the insane tariff just in case I’m wrong though!
@ViperOrchid - I just checked my shipping box from the Miss Marionette preorder before this most recent one and it says "Office of origin" is Poland, destination from Poland, etc. Nothing at all about China. But it is wise to prepare just in case. The uncertainty is frustrating (I have orders that will come from China, Spain, and Korea, so I am concerned too). In theory I can see how tariffs could be a tool for good, but the current implementation seems rather confusing and potentially unfair to people in lower-income brackets. But anyway - this isn't the place to continue the subject! - I just hope things become more clear and balanced soon. On the more positive subject, I am so excited about my planned DoDollsDream + MerryDollRound hybrid! I fell in love with Olathe the first time I saw her; however, finding a body in the right size/color was difficult. But I think this is going to be perfection! P1410022 by Flora Lingua Dolls, on Flickr Olathe has a very narrow neck opening and Miss Marionettes have wide necks so the hybrid needs modding. I don't want to modify either doll (I still want to use the Lullaby Ao head). So I plan to sculpt a special neck joint for Olathe and have it scanned and printed. It won't match perfectly in color or texture, but I'm fine with that. Before I can do this I have to unstring her, which is scary, because she is TIGHTLY strung. But I'll work up the courage soon!
@Chameleon @StellaMarigold Thank you guys! That's good to know, but I will still prepare just in case. ^^ @StellaMarigold And I can't wait to see how your Hybrid turns out, I wouldn't have thought of sculpting a new joint!
@ViperOrchid - Thank you! I hope to sculpt my own dolls at some point. I've only practiced with heads (using LaDoll clay) so far, but it is a start. In this case, since I didn't want to change either Olathe or the body I figured it was the only way, and the shape is basically a tube with a hole drilled through it, so it should be very easy.
I forgot to post it here, but I got my Charlotta back from Komorebi Dolls! I absolutely love how she turned out.
I fully paid off my girl!!!!!! Now I have to make sure I have enough for whatever terrifying customs fees I might have.
I have my Magaret painted, but I don't really like the eyebrow. I'm planning to get a new makeup, but adding that I've got another lullaby Aurelia unpainted, taht would be great burden (and pleasure too
Your Margaret is beautiful!! If Margaret is available in the next preorder, I will be seriously tempted (I say, still paying off my layaway for 2 dolls this preorder!)
Wellllll, my girls are paid off finally, and DDD is saying September/October is when the girls will be coming in, so I’m excited that the wait is almost over (and dreading finding out what shipping is gonna be for 2 full dolls, 2 sets of hands, and a spare head!)
I didn't go for a Pauli faceup... but I'm gnawing limbs off over not having my "she's here, play your shipping!" email yet. Plzzzzzzz I want my girl
I am also now among the 'obsessively refreshing instagram for faceup photos' even though I'll be getting Ursula and Lullaby Ursula unpainted. I just want to see more of their faces! Starting to get excited. (And slightly dreading the customs)
I’m also hoping to see dolls coming in soon… I had to message DDD to ask them to ship my dolls DHL cause my post is striking again! Dreading how much that’s gonna cost!
I got the tracking number for my Misses! I'm so excited to have her home soon If anyone else in the US is curious, they're only shipping through DHL right now, so be prepared to pay a little more.
Amazing news!!! I’m waiting on bated breath for the shipping notification for my girls too. I also, uh, may have talked DDD into letting me layaway a ghostly moon Ursula during their teacup preorder! I didn’t mean to, I just asked when more Misses would be available, and she let me buy one then and there!
Excellent! Hopefully my girl will be shipping soon too. Hopefully she can ship through Canada Post - the thought of how much DHL would charge for her makes me physically ill.
I got my Duty invoice, too. Mine was about the same as @siteblock but another person got one for about $197. It seems like if you ordered extra parts the duty is higher.
I was gonna say oof... and then I did the conversion and that's about the same duty as I'm expecting when converted to CAD. So, still oof! But I was honestly expecting around 500 or so because DHL haaaaaates me.
I received my Misses the other day, and I don't believe I can be any happier with her! I'm already excited for the next preorder.
Viper, she's perfection! Also I GOT MY EMAIL AAAAAAAAAA I've spent most of the day mentally bopping about like Stewie going to Disneyland. I'm going to be insufferable, between excitement for Tsumugi to be in my hands and the del Toro Frankenstein film dropping next Friday. A good time to love beauty and monsters
She came in this afternoon. The wig is a bit too big (whups), and one of each eye colour is being re-glued together, so she's temporarily heterochromatic. Her thick hips and legs also ensured that only one bottom and one pair of socks actually fit too. Miss Charlotta, angelic pink
My Urara arrived!! I have so much to say I don't even know what to start with. The Ghostly Moon resin is enchanting! I love how all her hands, feet, legs etc are different from each other with the swirl pattern. I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about it because it's so new to me on resin dolls, but I love it. Makes me not want to dress her so I don't cover any of it up xD Urara's faceup says "Offline" in katakana that's specifically supposed to look like misaligned Risograph printing. She's an important concept to me - I love retro technology a lot and it is the focus of my studies in Uni, but she represents the difference stages and fading of nostalgia for me personally. The translucent resin is reminiscent of this for me especially. Urara as a whole was just the perfect way for this to come to life through and through. I truly love her and I can't remember the last time I felt this enchanted by a doll. And of course, Paulianne pulled the whole thing together and gave her life. I am STRUGGLING to find a wig color/cut for her though XDD I think I need brighter colors and I don't have any on hand. I'm afraid she will be bald for a minute
My marionette was my first doll and I was impressed at how much bubble wrap Malgorzata gets into that box. I'm pleased they take such careful time to package everything for international shipping so well, the outer box had some minor damage but the inner doll box was untouched.
A DDD as a first doll was an amazing choice! DDDs are honestly the closest I’ve ever gotten to breaking and getting a humanoid, they’re that good.
I wasn't at any point tempted by any dolls until I saw DDD. They are truly exquisite. Did you see the teaser for their upcoming MSD scale dolls?
Sorry for the strange question, but I haven’t been able to find an answer elsewhere. What size shoes best fit Miss Marionette? I know around what general size, but I’m mostly asking if there are there any measurements to keep in mind.
I've been going off of the official measurements posted on their website. Dolls - Do Dolls Dream It lists their measurements: Feet – default: 6,8 cm (length); 2,5 cm (width); 3 cm (height) I picked up a few pairs of shoes on Taobao in anticipation for her delivery- just some basic faux-leather mary-janes. I got them in the 1/3 size since DDD Marionettes seemingly are meant to have many similar measurements as other 1/3 scale dolls like Dollfies. The 1/3 scale fits the flat feet well. I didn't pick up any heels to try with the ballerina feet, and I probably wouldn't try cramming the pointed toes into shoes. I'll say that the feet have a considerable vault, by that I mean the top part of the foot is arched and has a lot of height to it, so your shoes of choice should probably have functional laces or straps. I am very wary of boots that go past the ankles since DDD dolls have very generous calves, so I can't speak to those.
New Hello! I have a Miss Marionette head and I've been considering hybrid options (as magnificent as the body is, it's just not my thing). Does anyone who has a DDD MM head also happen to have a FanFF model body (preferably the model 2.0) and be able to take a picture of the two together? That would be amazing
New I recently received some Fanff super high heels shoes and they fit the miss marionette heeled feet well. The arches are similiar.
