Curious about Doll Chateau… They're one of my absolute favorite doll companies, which is precisely why I am standing here in the void, gently poking the internet with a stick. I haven't seen anything new from them in a while, and it's starting to feel like I imagined the whole brand during a particularly elaborate fever dream. Has anyone ordered from them recently? Are they alive? Are they hibernating? Did they ascend into some avant-garde resin dimension without telling us? What is going on? I need answers before I start building a tiny memorial shelf. ️
I actually ordered a head from them last year, and they are still taking forever to make orders... even though I have no idea why because no one I know or see online ever buys anything they make? lol Head order submitted in July 2025 and no news. I even asked Alice if they were still in business, and Alice said they were. I sent an email asking for an update last month, and Doll Chateau still needs more time, so ETA is looking like March. 8 months is... something. My favorite doll, my Stacy, is made by them, and I also love the Snow Nymph I got last year secondhand. Kills me that the waits are this long when it's been crickets.
I don't think you're imagining anything with them slowing down a bit. Doll Chateau has been one of my absolute favorite companies as well over the years and I've noticed a few things with them that are not my favorite. Slow production times on dolls(I honestly would expect no less than a full year of waiting), they've reduced so many of their standard non-limited dolls down to a very small line, and seem to be strongly favoring limited doll runs. At least that's how it seems to me.
Doll Chateau was what made me fall in love with BJDs years ago, but I missed out on so much since I only actually got into the hobby last year. I really hope they bring back some older iconic sculpts one day, even just for a limited period. There's so few options now and I'm not the biggest fan of their newest work that leans less like, avant-garde. They also seem to be getting rid of even more sculpts. The Alan centaur body was available a little while ago, but I recently checked on a few dealer sites and it's gone. You can only get the head as of now.
They are one of the most recasted brands besides Fairyland and Popovy Sisters, so I could see them losing steam and wanting to focus more on small releases.. It really takes the heart out of artists to work so hard only to get robbed like that. This is merely speculation, but If that were the reason, I wouldn't be too surprised.
