Wearables Catch-all sewing thread for downturningeyes

Making a thread to document this dress! The very first dress I made for this doll is one of the first things I had sewn in nearly a decade, and one of my first doll sewing projects ever. It’s incredibly messy and was made with no pattern or, really, planning, so I’ve been planning to make a new, better dress since about may/June of 2024, bought fabric and embellishments in October 2024, and finally started it…..this January. I am incredibly lucky to know a very helpful person who is not only a very talented seamster but also an owner of BJDs who they sew for extensively so they’re able to give me tips! Anyways:

This is the basic design I decided on, although the sleeves will be different.

For the pattern, I started from 2 bases: the top is very loosely (mostly used it to get a better idea of sizing) from the Minifee basic pattern by Missy’s Imaginings, and the sleeve is very heavily modified from the Fairyland Minifee Fantasy Dress pattern on ithilear.net/Lomi’s Playground.

Next thing planned is to finish the edges of the draping sleeve and possibly picot bead it? And then close the sleeves (you can see where they’re held by pins). Then onto the underskirt and overskirt, then a cape. Trying lots of new stuff with this project

 

Haven’t been able to sew much (other project, also a full time undergrad student) but I got the sleeve edge sewn…and I’m not sure how I feel. The inside is going to be visible but it looks messy. I think I’ll be adding some lacy fabric inside too which would hopefully cover it up somewhat?

 

Added another project: bomber jacket. Working off a human pattern, with sizing based off a doll sized jacket pattern.

I have the front sewn to the back and the pockets done so far!

 

Finished the jacket and also I finally have a sewing machine! Only got to use it for adding the zipper but still
