Mikey's older sister ran away from home when he was only one year old. Sensing that he would eventually become a changeling like herself, she left her chimera Pickles behind to take care of him.

Mikey went through his crysalis when he was four, turning out to be a Troll. He didn't know that he had a sister until shortly after that when their mother died. When he was sent to a foster home Pickles told him about his sister and they went on a grand quest to find her.
