Biography: Ilya and his twin brother, Sasha, were raised in Russia by their alcoholic and abusive uncle. Ilya was often in trouble at school and didn't have many friends. At home, he was in trouble just as frequently. He has always been fiercely protective of Sasha, and when the principal of their high school refused to let them attend a dance together, breaking Sasha's heart, Ilya went to the principal's house and smashed the windows out of his car in the dead of night. He was never caught for that incident, but his uncle pulled him out of school to send him to work in a junk yard as punishment for a pattern of bad behavior. Finally Ilya couldn't take it anymore and ran away from home. He wasn't reunited with Sasha until years later, when their uncle died and he was contacted about taking care of the estate, and Ilya was shocked to find his brother a college graduate now living with his boyfriend.

Biography: Sasha was popular in high school, but he spent every free moment he had with Ilya. When Ilya suddenly quit school, Sasha never understood why. He only knew how lonely he felt without his brother. When Ilya disappeared without saying a word or even leaving him a note, Sasha was devastated. It was a long time before he stopped crying and was able to think about something other than his own pain and what might have happened to his twin. When their uncle grew sick from a long life of alcohol abuse, Sasha took care of him until the end. After their uncle's passing, Sasha returned to their childhood home to sort through old belongings. That's when he again finds Ilya. By then he had forgiven his brother and was mature enough to understand why Ilya left the way he did. Soon after his reunion with his twin, Sasha ended his relationship with his boyfriend and asked Ilya to move in with him.
