History: From a prominent Mississippi family, Rosemary suddenly found herself a student at Our Lady of Sorrows after her parents disappeared. She has other family, but her parents were estranged from them, and she instead has a legal guardian, a close friend of her father’s from law school. Due to the mysterious and unsettling circumstances surrounding her parents’ disappearance, her guardian felt it would be safer to send her to boarding school, and sent her to his own alma mater. Rosemary misses her parents desperately, but faces adversary with a smile. She is still learning her way around the school.

Rosemary means “ dew of the sea ”. Winterbourne is “a winter burn (stream)—that is, a stream that only runs during the winter”.
