I agree that the KDF boy body should get a renewal first u_u; I was a little disappointed when I saw the girl body was first in votes /:

 

Here's a pic of the new romantic body (sorry I forgot who asked about it on the last thread) - she's sitting and has a scarf on for modesty but if anyone wants any other kind of shots of the newer body just let me know :

 

I agree about the boy body! I voted for them too when I did the site poll. Almost all the other bodies have already had an update recently!

Poetic Soul Magnolia looks great in her new wig, and what a cool color for her! Her cloak is also gorgeous!

Ah, a new thread~ I was hoping I'd have my boy before the new thread, but oh well, haha. I definitely think that kdf boy body needs some live, though. I wish I could vote more than once, haha.

I'm back from my holiday! While I got to see and play with Miss Yui (and change her lashes!), I didn't have many opportunities to take photos of her. :< The last time I had Yui-longing I ended up buying another mini... /headdesk

PoeticSoul The colour suits Magnolia perfectly! When I saw user photos of that colour I was really kicking myself for not getting it because it's such a lovely blend of lilac and blond and silver all together.

I voted for boy renewal in the poll. What exactly do they mean by that though? I jsut voted becuase I think they need some new boys! But I wasn't sure if it was new sculpts or new bodies or what.

 

I am hoping for a new mature boy body. But also new boy faces later on.

 

I believe they were quite clear in their 'news' post that it is a 'body renewal' ^u^ And is why the Senior Delf Girl is not included, since they already got a new body...I just hope the rest of the new bodies aren't so lacking in poseability >_>...in my opinion, the new SDF girl body is rather lame =_=; They tried to make it look more pretty, ok, but why single-jointed? And no tights-joint either...*sigh*

I don`t like the skinny waist on the new SDF girl body. It`s to skinny. Type 1 have a better female shape I think. Type 2 get to Barbie like. No waist and just legs

I`m glad not KDF girl Romance body is like that.

@Shailara: Ditto on the SDF girl body sentiment. While she looks more sleek and clean, the non-mobility joint and the too small waist kinda put me off. I'm hoping they don't take the new redesigns too much in that direction. Maybe it's not so bad in person?

@Keilee: Agree on keeping the child look for the KDF. That's the main reason I've been drawn to LUTS in the first place. Just fix the elbows, the knees, and add the mobility joints and I'll be one happy Luts Lover!

Sorry for the quality, but my beloved pet, Squeaky, died yesterday morning and the last time I had ever taken her picture was when I took her out to take a picture of her with Kadan. It was taken with my phone. So, I thought I'd spam with that instead of something else in her memory.



As for the new body, I hope they do upgrade the KDF boy body - double jointed legs would be very nice, as well as perhaps a fix for the square elbows. I'm rather a penny pincher but I wouldn't mind buying the new body for Kadan if it had those two things...

I guess I missed the part about renewing the body. But I agree, more flexibility would be nice. Heck, I've got a KD girl and I still want more possibility. But I'm just crazy about posing. I've considered getting Alice an active line MNF body. But I'm not sure how much real difference there is. I've seen on MNF girl in person and she was more flexible but also very floppy. Not sure if that was the fault of stringing or if that's just the way their bodies are.

The twins raided Suzaku's closet. (There are perks to having a rock star in the house...) Now they're trying to look all punk and tough.



Also, I agree that the KDF boy body needs work (thigh joints! Pretty please? And the elbows are still kind of awkward) but I'm a little nervous about what they'll do after seeing the new SDF body. It seems like they're going for a more aesthetic approach like what Iplehouse and some others have done in the past, with hidden joints and the like, and I don't mind that, but I'm worried about the posability. (Single jointed arms? Optional non-jointed legs...?) I feel like Luts has had success with solid, better-than-average posing and should stick to that rather than worrying so much about the hiding the joints all of a sudden. That's just my opinion, though. :/ I'll just have to wait until the first girls arrive to see what the result is.

 

I must have missed it (I wasn't on DoA for quite some time and recently came back, long story). What did Iplehouse do to their joints? (lol, joints. I just had a very immature moment where that sounded hilarious. Most people can't talk like doll owners do!)

 

Currently, I'm pretty content with the KDF bodies, so I voted for new Senior bodies x___x
now I guess, we'll just have to see what wins the poll

pinkburrow, kdf Ani was my first introduction to Luts through a friend's doll...so she'll always have a warm place in my heart. Your girl is positively stunning!

Yeah, I'm just so over the lambskin poofy wigs right now. They look beautiful, it's true, but are such a pain because it's difficult to keep them out of her face on a day-to-day, hands-on level. At least I was able to find the perfect color for my vision of her...and now she has 3 of the new wigs in different styles, so more variety too.

 

does anyone know if an order of just wigs/clothes/shoes/stuff would be eligible for the free event head or does the order have to include a doll?

 

Nah. Just as long as your order total reaches the amount necessary for the head.
So you do not need to get a doll. And you could always contact them to make absolutely sure.

Now that I have gotten a new camera I can better join in with spam!

Maaaybe I am a bit too early to have them in their winter/autumn school uniforms now (especially with +33 C here)... But I had to try them on now that the shirts arrived.

Yldenfrei Thanks for informing me, I did not know that which now makes my question kind of dumb... I've got a Kiwi as my first doll, she got here last month but because of school and my exams I haven't had the time to play with her until now. The thing is I'm having some trouble with her legs. Since this is my first doll I'm not sure if it simply needs to be re-strung or the legs are somehow defective o.O

 

xSushi I can't think of a way it could be a defect...their knees are pretty simple after all >3< If she arrived just last month, I'm guessing she kicks a lot because of tight stringing. You could leave her sitting with her knees bent all the time, the elastic should loosen up that way. A simple way to know if she needs to be restrung tighter is to have her knees bent and hold her upside down. If the lower part of the legs stay in place, she's ok, if they fall off, she needs restringing ^u^ (one leg of my girl's does that although she can still stand just fine, although not as easily >u<; )

 

Chaos Aroura: Sorry, I forgot that since this is the Kid Delf thread, most people probably don't keep up with Iplehouse like I do. (I've been stalking their Asa, I, and Ashanti sculpts since forever.) They have really realistic-looking dolls in a variety of different skin colors, and they work very hard to hide the joints. The best example I can find is here, in their Custom Doll system. (Obviously, there's some nudity there.) I've heard that they pose pretty well, but there's some sacrifice in stability and range of motion; some of the girls could barely sit properly. I've never seen an Iplehouse doll IRL, so anyone who has actually owned one, feel free to correct me on this.

So basically, my concern with the SDF body (And the possible future KDF body) is that we'll encounter the same kind of trade-off. I value posability more--I don't think of joints as an eyesore--but that's just my opinion.

(I know, right? The stuff we get to say... There are whole threads about it.)

About restringing, everyone, is there not a general test of if a doll is well strung by if they can balance on one leg?
Or is that just for some specific doll company?

 

Yumeiro I've never heard of that! oAo I only know that if they can't stand, means bad stringing/needs restringing. When I got Eulia (my kdf pine), I couldn't for the love of me get her to stand on one leg xD; Maybe it was her heels fault? Still, I bet it takes hours of fiddling with them to make them stand as their legs can't keep poses on the air too well xD; (if you know what I'm trying to say >_< )

 

I found the perfect wig for Serena and I got a chance to spray her in between rain showers this afternoon so I'll be working on her faceup tomorrow *yay*

I usually know if mine need restringing by pulling on a limb - if too much elastic is easily seen then I give them a tighten up

 

I have had to restring every single doll I have ever gotten from Luts. And I have even had to cut the elastic on a couple of them because they were too tight to unhook the hands. So I always buy elastic when I buy a doll from them.

 

Woo, I'm behind. I just got back from a week of vacation to 100+ degree weather. Allison's in her box to survive the heat, too.

About restringing, I think Allison might need to be restrung soon, but I feel as if I'm putting it off until the very last second. She can stand just fine, but there are moments when she just frustrates me when her hands won't stay close to her face unless I hold them.

 

That bites. I always remember after I've ordered dolls, "oh, I should have bought extra string just in case!" and never once have done it. I'd be in a sorry state if something ever happened here, I have no spare elastic. I remember when I first got into BJDs I thought when elastic wore out it just 'die' so I though 'but what if you're walking outside when it happens!?! Your doll will just fall to pieces on the ground!' Ah, newbie moments. I can look back and laugh now.

Thanks! I see what you mean now! Funny thing is, the joints (at least the general body, not the mobility) look a lot like my B&G boy's do, and his posing is worse than my Kid Delf girl's is!!

I really need to restring some of my dolls... I just keep forgetting to buy elastic. My oldest doll, Tori, was so floppy that he could barely stand; I just tightened the knots a bit for now, but it's just a temporary solution.

Hey, what size of string fits best in KDFs? I know what the company says, but I wanted to hear your opinions.

 

13thMuse I've never bought string for my girl, so I actually don't have a clue. But yeah, when it comes to body aesthetics (sp?) vs flexibility, I take flexibility. I can't stand it if you can't get the stand right or sit right. I mean what's the point of having pretty joints if they look unnatural standing?

13thmuse@ i've never had to restring cade since he is in one position all the time, and not a position where he is stretching the elastic. I feel like he still brand new all kicky and stuff and i bought him two years ago.

So, having finally bought a glue gun (imagine 25 years of not owning one ), I tried hot glue sueding Frei.

Totally worth the 15 minutes it took to follow this easy tutorial! Encouraging everyone to do this. Increase fun times with your lovelies! (LOL! I sound like a TV Commercial! )

 

Yeah, I know... But most of the times it seems one leg may be a little tiny bit shorter than the other. Also, the upper part of the legs, I don't know what you call it - the part where the leg connects with the torso - doesn't seem to fit well. The ball thing there is ok when she's sitting but when I put her up it will be too shaky so she won't stand up.
Ot maybe I'm just paranoid about the whole thing o.O

I have a question: Do Kid Delf's fit into Unoa clothes? Or are they (KDFs) too chunky?

I would think that most Unoa clothes are too small for the Kid Delfs. Kid Delfs are pretty much regular MSD size while Unoas are considered slim MSD size. I have other dolls that are slim MSD and no way could my KDF Magnolia squeeze into their clothes.
