Some writing with the pictures might help explain exactly what is going on. I'll admit freely that I was confused at what was going on until part five or so. Also I think the ton of little holes might have been more work than was really necessary.... http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?381973-2-Part-into-3-Part-Torso-tutorial That tutorial looks like it was much easier....
Well, actually, no. If you hadn't noticed, Cymorill was cutting in a straight line, which can be easily done with the disc cutter and the hacksaw blade. It's a helluva lot harder to cut a curved line with said disc cutter and hacksaw. Especially as the disc cutter will create a lot of excess lines that would have to be sanded out (Basically like drawing a curved line with a straight ruler). Not to mention Legend has to take into account the back as well; she can't just use a sawblade without a lot of care and going really slow. Besides, if you don't have all the exact tools, drilling holes like that is an alright substitute to cutting out said curved line.
KarieChaos Unfortunately, I have a poor English and I couldn't express all my minds so well and correct as I want. Therefore, I was try to make a detailed pictures of the process. But I guess you right. I will try to write some enclosed notes for this tutorial. ^^ Actually no. I agree with adhara. She explained everything very detailed. Furthermore, I used a cut-blade disc in the same mods. It was harder because of the cut-blade disc was delayed in too thick walls of resin and the result from cutting was very irregular.
Fantastic!! This is beautiful work! Great job! I wish I was that brave. Maybe someday when I'm not buried under a huge backup of projects I'll try this one.
This is excellent! I'm turned off of a lot of molds because of single joint torsos, but it doesn't look like it would be impossible to fix that now! Thank you. ^_^
this looks very doable... very well thought out pict guide. and wow at how thick his torso is O.o thank you for this amazing tutorial!
TatsuKitty, Rosslyn It's long process but not too difficult. =) I wish you good luck! rishimsin geishacookie If my tutorial helps to you some day, I'll be glad. ^_^ CountessAudronasha Fushia Lace Teddy Thank you very much. ^^ I'll try to do more tutorials, when I make new interesting modifications.
This is very detailed and well done. I think maybe just an explanantion on the tools you used for the photos will be good enough, since the photos are so detailed and show each step clearly. You make it look so easy, haha.
You make that look so easy! I wonder if it'd be do-able to a delf boy body. Got me thinking now. I'll admit its body that dont have the hip joint that frustrate me ^^; Like my EID, i'd love to give him a hip joint.
by the way, how much height did you loose with that mod? it really doesn't look like you lost that much at all. i am moving out of the "curious" mode and going into the "do i have all the tools..." mode. just trying to figure if i will loose height with this way of doing it. thanks.
cian Thanks! I asked my friend to help me to translate explanations because of my poor English. ^^" I'll write it here when she make it. pendrithgirl I guess it will be some different with Lust Delf body but I think it will be not too difficult. ^^ Tabbydragon You are welcome! ^^ Fushia Lace There is no saying true because I shortened neck and legs at 5-6 сm for this doll. I made the relative photos of "before" and "after". I hope it will help to you somehow.
thank you Legend! that answers my main concern with height loss. i likes my tall boys to stay that way, but i miss the pose ability. i also have another bod i'm really wanting but has no hip joint. killin me because it is such a beautiful bod too! this makes me believe i can indeed fix my stumbling block
Very nice job! I agree, the disc cutter would have been the wrong thing to use, and it does jam on thick resin unless it's at a high speed. Small guide holes and them the cutting bit were definietly the way to go! Turned out very nice, and not too much lost in torso height. Good work.
that torso was so thick!!!! O_O.. if i was the one doing the mod i would have panicked right after the parts have been cut!! nice job btw~~
Ooh, this looks really good, there's a doll I was really tempted to get for a character of mind but I found him a tad too tall and was wary of the fact that he was missing this joint, I have all the listed tools so I may seriously consider buying him and using this nifty tutorial to solve both problems at once. It looks so simple! Thanks for the share!
