Not much ideas on suitable headmoulds, but I thought that you might like to see Deathnote Unoas [Alchemic Labo/Gentarou Araki]. I believe both Raito and L are Sist. Shinigami Ninyoukan was the first I saw with Deathnote dolls and I adore her L.

I think Camine would make a good Near (make full use of those chubby cheeks!)

For L, though... hmm... definitely a mould with nice large eyes... nothing springs to mind at the moment, but best of luck finding the right sculpt! I'd love to see him when he's done!

Edit: How about Chiwoo from Luts? Mod his eyes a little, add the right faceup to get them nice and dark, and I think that might work well. I think Chiwoo has an L mouth, somehow.

 

I love deathnote. I plan to redo my T.Too face to be L.. I just hope it works. I know T.Too eyes are a bit too smal.. but L looks sleepy sometimes too. ^^;;

 

Yeah Chiwoo is definetly a possibility... but his cheeks'd need heavy sanding... Im thinking Yder... he has huge eyes and narrow face.. but his mouth'd need a little work I think

Not that this necessarily helps you, but I'm going to make my DIM R-Asiam look like L. Maybe his eyes are a little small, but otherwise I think Asiam is a good L. ^__^

Ooo, mae, I'd been wondering what mold those boys were. I came across them when I was *newer* to BJD! ^^-

well, uh, see, I've always thought it'd be pretty nifty if someone took an EL, sanded his eyes (dropped the 'e'..) and made an L...but maybe that's just me..? o_o;;;

EL chin and cheeks and general face-shape look like a good L to me..just yeah, sand those eyes out real good..with that mouth, though, he's probably a safer "no" than anything..[unless you're up for some major slight-mods??] hah, ignore my ramble, listen to everyone else! ^^;

 

I must say I agree with you whole heartedly, gayle. Thats the first doll that popped in my head too. Calvin already has those HUGE eyes, and narrow face.

I totally think Yder. He would be perfect as is.

Oddly enough when I first started reading the manga I instantly envisioned L as Yder. A little bit of facial sanding, and that's about it. lol

 

I think that the Raito is a Volks old FCS F28, the L is definitely a Volks old FCS F29, just for extra info Misa is an Anais.

Oh! I remembered another L doll - rather, a cosplay L; Dyne's Arkadi, an old FCS F28. I think she did a great job with him, he looked quite like it. Version 1 and Version 2.

F-16 has good eyes for looking tired though

but for a more "realistic" L I would just go for yder, perhaps some cheaksanding involved, but the furwig and eyeshades would do it all

as a person who OWNS both a Yder and dollmore calvin
seriously, they dont work for L

while they both might have the huge eyes, yders facial features are to small in comparison to be perfectly canon to the style
his eye shape is also wrong
his head is also very small in comparison to ... everything i've seen in person ( even the delf girls, ack D: )

calvin has a tottally diffrent problem, everything besides his mouth is tottally outsized to his head, seriously, my project for the last week has been shaving down his nose ( wich was originally nearly 1/4 inch wide ) and taking an exacto to his gigantic dumbo ears, down to 3/4 of an inch long from maybe 7/8-15/16"

aslo, the most blaring thing about calvin is that, no, its not just the angle, he really doesnt have any jawline

the only thing thats right is the eye shape X'D;

frankly i think that Camine would be would be the best 60cm match, with maybe a bit of lower lip sanding to make it thinner, and you could open his eyes a little more if you truely need that omgbiggiganticeyelook
Soom Kanoa looks like the same way, though he's a little less stylized then Camine, he'd also need some cheek sanding, by the look of it

you could also go for CP Dambi, or i guess you could see chiwoo with some heavy cheek sanding

Kiss would also work, kinna, thats another big eye option but its a much better match then yder

i cant think of any 45cm off the top of my head but yeah

sigh, that took me WAY to long, youknow, and i didnt even go to look at dollzone xD
but from what i remember, they wouldnt work that well

 

Is it okay to post pics of other people's dolls? Someone posted a beautiful L on the death note LJ community a while back, and I think I saved it. o_o I can't tell what kind it is, but I'm sure someone here could.

Personally I like Yder as L. Donovan was never supposed to be an L doll but the resemblance just sort of happened. He's an Elf Yder vampire with modded eyes.
